Walking Into Things

Thirty two year old Nancy Burgess in need of a higher paying job due to recently becoming a single mother of two had joined an agency to help her with the process. As a nurses assistant, her income had only added up to be enough to cover the phone bill, groceries, and the utilities. Since our dad had been hurt on the job his disability could be counted on every two weeks but if you counted it, it wouldn’t add up to much. His income prior to the fall was more than sufficient to cover the mortgage, the car, and just about anything else that came their way.

She knew there wasn’t much work to choose from out there and that her only background was in the medical field yet she made it clear to her representative from the job placement company that hospice care (helping those on their death beds as they come to the end of their days …

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls

Book Review

Have you heard of these cool classics with a zombie twist? First we had had Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (which is a New York Times Best Seller) and now Steve Hockensmith has written the prequel to Jane Austen’s “zombinated” classic novel.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls is the third Quirk Classic. This book is not based on an original Austen work, but it does stay true to the characters she created and gives Hockensmith an opportunity to fully demonstrate his creative genius.

Description of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls from the Publisher:

With more than one million copies in print, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was the surprise publishing phenomenon of 2009. A best seller on three continents, PPZ has been translated into 21 languages and optioned to become a major motion picture.

In this terrifying and hilarious prequel, we witness the genesis of the zombie plague in early-nineteenth-century …

The Mystery of Count St. Germain

The Count of St. Germain is a mysterious character that first appeared in 1710. He was known as a famous adventurer of the 18th century, who was known throughout Europe as “the miracle man”. Not much is known about his true identity, with varying stories of his origin including The son of Francis II Rákóczi, the Prince of Transylvania, Francis Bacon, true heir to the Throne of England, The illegitimate son of Maria Anna of Pfalz-Neuburg, the widow of Charles II of Spain, and the son of John V, the king of Portugal. Even more strangely, according to witnesses, he had lived for at least two hundred years, while hardly changing his appearance with nearly god-like powers.

The mystery of Saint Germain may never be solved because of his own apparent self-mythologizing which is deepened since his name was seemingly invented by him as a French version of the Latin Sanctus Germanus, meaning “Holy Brother.” As mentioned earlier, his first …

Emily and the Doll

Hi, I feel the need to share this story with someone. I have told my parents this before but they never believed me. I was 7 when this whole thing started. I was born in a small town in Illinois and my mother took me and my older sister out of state to Arizona when I was seven. My sister was 11, she trusts what I am telling is true because she is Wiccan and is in to all the supernatural stuff.

Ok so when we first moved to Arizona into this small house with my mom and her boyfriend who has two older sons who are both older than me and my sister. I am the baby in the family. My step dada Thomas had made a room in his house just for my sister and I. It was small but we each had our own beds. He filled the room with dolls and babies and stuffed animals. But …

Imaginary Friend or Gaurdian Angel?

About ten years ago, my daughter had an “imaginary friend” named Thomas. But after a while, we started getting scratches in rows of four on our backs, everyone, even my dog. This happened at night. Slowly the scratches stopped, but we kept hearing voices  and we came home once, finding the dog locked in the oven. Fortunately it wasn’t turned on.

Being a fan of ghost stories, I decided to give a test. My daughter was seven now and was afraid just to fall asleep. I sat down when I was alone, and began my test. I put the recorder on the floor, and asked if there were any spirits here, and If there was for them to give a knock. Still calm, as it could have been a coincidence, I began asking questions. I said for it to give one knock for no, and two for yes. I asked it the simple questions, such as are there more spirits …

Our House Ghost the Drunk

I am 23 years old and live in South Africa. We used to rent a house just outside Pretoria on the Old Warmbath Road. My dad at that time was working in Iraq on a 4 month on/1 month off basis building armoured vehicles, so me, my mom and younger brother was alone for long periods of time. The house we rented was kind of old, still with those old ceilings with the patterns on and wooden floors. Also, we had no nearby neighbours because it was a plot house (that is like a farm, just the size of the property is smaller). So, me and my mom and brother moved in and settled nicely. We all loved the wide open space and the big yard and everything. I had about five dogs and a potbelly pig that was housetrained, she used to sleep in the house with one of my dogs, my dachshund.

After a while, we started noticing …

Paranormal Experiences at our Catering Company

Well I want to start out by saying that I believe in the paranormal and I always have. I have had experiences since I was about 7 years old and that was about 16 years ago. But my most recent ones have been while I was employed at my families catering company.

My family actually purchased this company almost 6 years ago from a woman that we had gone to see and book for my up and coming wedding (which never happened). As soon as the papers and what-not were signed and we started working in the first building (We have leased several), strange things were happening. I cant even remember the first occurrence I had, but one that sticks out in my mind is when I was moping up the men’s washroom at a Christmas party as someone had made a disgusting mess when all of a sudden I felt sheer terror and had to get out of there. …

Farm Haunting

Though my personal paranormal encounter does not include any gruesome experiences with an Ouija board like some of the others on the site, the ordeal still shocked me quite a bit. My experience has not had a great impact on my life other than the fact I can still remember every detail because of how startling it was and the fact that I now believe in a paranormal or supernatural presence.

My father had always dreamt of owning a house with a relatively large sized yard so when we were financially capable we moved across town to a relatively new house situated on top of a hill. The only family we considered neighbors owned a small sheep farm next door in the original farmhouse built in the early 1900′s. The road our new home was off of (which I shall call Tom Duncan Rd so I do not distribute my family’s address) was named after the man who built and …

My Daughter Attracts Spirits

This story spans over three homes in Cheshire, England

When I was pregnant with my daughter I lived in a small mother and baby unit, close to my previous home. I had enjoyed every second of living there, but when my daughter was born things almost immediately began to change. My flat was on the upper floor with another three flats. When returning from the communal living room at night with the other girls we all became aware of a presence on the upper landing. No one mentioned it to each other but we all noticed one and other switching on the light for the landing before we turned the corner.

One night, I think my daughter was a month old, I was sitting in the communal living room with Becky. We both heard a strange noise coming from my baby monitor which I had turned on so I could hear if my daughter woke up. We both listened to …

Seeing Demons in Everyday Life

In 2005 I was involved in a bad relationship with my youngest daughter’s father. Lorin was a hot tempered man. I was praying a lot and talking to god in my prayers. Several times I dreamed I was battling a demon in my dreams. Lorin started to abuse me and my children on occasion. In Lorin’s eyes sometimes I could see them change into a demonic eyes. Lorin’s eyes would get real squinty and look pure evil.

One day a trailer was being torn down. I drove up to the trailer to look for a door for my trailer. I saw an old woman dressed in black going through the trailer’s junk. The old woman told me her name it was Linda. I saw Linda on several occasions and she drove to my home one day to ask for a ride. I hesitated to respond to Linda’s request since I was pretty broke and Linda offered no gas money. But …

Finley’s Haunted Bar and Grill

Finley’s Bar and Grill, smack dab in the middle of farm land is the last of the mom and pop operations complete with its own entity who has resided there for the 16 years that Debra Finley and husband Mark have owned the place. I felt a heaviness of energy years ago when I stopped in for a delicious lunch and wanted to ask if it was haunted at that time but felt it was inappropriate as the place was full inside and in the garden with customers.

Recently on a day off I just popped in Finley’s, introduced myself then asked the owners if they have experienced paranormal activity. They were taken aback and wanted to know who told me. After establishing I wasn’t to crazy just curious if they could validate my feelings, they both opened up and shared the personal experiences they and their staff have had for the 16 years they have owned the business. This …

Four Negative Energies

My name is Nathan, I am 20 years old I am developing my mediumship in a development circle. For a few months now all has been going well.

As a kid I had always seen and felt spirits but I moved into my present house when I was five years old I have been living here for 15 years. Throughout the years my family has heard odd bangs or voices and seen figures lurking about but didn’t really take much notice of it. I remember when I was about eight or nine getting woken up in the middle of the night by a voice that was mumbling to me. I was frightened, I didn’t really catch what this spirit was saying ’til I jumped out of bed and got into my brothers bed screaming, then I heard the spirit say “something’s here from hell.” But years went by and all we had were odd creaks and bangs and scratches still …
