My Daughter Attracts Spirits

Posted on March 2, 2010

This story spans over three homes in Cheshire, England

When I was pregnant with my daughter I lived in a small mother and baby unit, close to my previous home. I had enjoyed every second of living there, but when my daughter was born things almost immediately began to change. My flat was on the upper floor with another three flats. When returning from the communal living room at night with the other girls we all became aware of a presence on the upper landing. No one mentioned it to each other but we all noticed one and other switching on the light for the landing before we turned the corner.

One night, I think my daughter was a month old, I was sitting in the communal living room with Becky. We both heard a strange noise coming from my baby monitor which I had turned on so I could hear if my daughter woke up. We both listened to the monitor and came to the conclusion that it was her mobile (one of those musical things with animals hanging off of it, you attach them to the side of the cot), the unmistakable sound of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’. I’m not sure how but I managed to persuade Becky to come and investigate with me.

By the time we reached the upper landing we were both pretty unsure of what exactly we were about to see. Upon reaching my flat door I noted that the door handle was down, it looked as if it was being held that way. So, tentatively, I unlocked the door and went down the short hallway to where my daughter was sleeping, and sure enough the mobile had been wound up and was playing by itself, needless to say I always took her to the communal living room with me after that!

About a week later another girl who lived in the flat opposite me spoke to me one night and complained of hearing ‘dragging’ and ‘scratching’ noises down her bedroom wall, coming from the living room, which was on the other side. She even asked the staff in the mother and baby unit if we could have a priest in to bless the place. They never did because when I moved out a month later, the happenings stopped.

When my daughter was two months old I moved out of the mother and baby unit into a ‘sheltered accommodation’ flat, and I was chuffed because I had my own front door. But after moving in things soon settled into the same routine as my old flat in the unit. There was a door at the top of the landing which would constantly open and shut, even though there was no breeze and no windows where open. The door also ‘clicked’ when it was shut properly, and even if you made the door click, it would click back open again. A friend of mine came to stay one night and she left in the morning, after watching the door open and shut all night, vowing never to stay again.

I would wake in the middle of the night and smell burning, only to search the flat and find the oven switched on. I would turn it off and go back to bed but in the morning would find it switched back on, so in the end I learned to switch my oven off at the mains before going to sleep.

Strangely enough the girl who lived below me said that she could hear strange noises coming from our adjoined wall (in the bedrooms), like scratching. But I still didn’t link any of it together.

I stayed there until my daughter was approximately 10 months old and moved into my current home. We spent until just after Christmas in blissful peace, no magic ovens, no strange noises and no crazy doors. But as my daughter turned one the noises started happening again. Footsteps have been heard by a number of people sitting downstairs, although the only person upstairs was my daughter and she was asleep in her cot. I became aware that this was the presence of more than one child, don’t ask me how, I just knew. I was bathing my daughter one night and had the distinct feeling of small children running in and out of the bathroom. So I finished up and we both went downstairs.

So all this went on for a further seven months, and one morning I woke up and automatically looked at my bedroom door, which had opened. And sure enough a face popped round the door, but it wasn’t the face of my daughter. It was a small blonde child, female, with a shawl draped around her head, over her shoulders and under her chin. She looked around four years old, and she started walking over to me. I wasn’t scared and I just lay there in bed and watched her walk up to about two feet away, she looked at me in the eye, then turned and walked back out of the room. I waited for a few minutes then got out of bed and walked round the house looking for this little girl, but my search resulted in nothing. I have also been woken up by somebody shouting my name, bangs, coughs, and other strange noises.

About four months ago my mother visited a renowned medium, and everything else she has told us has either been true or come true, so I have no doubt in what she says is the truth. She even told my mum I was pregnant before I knew. Anyway to cut the story short this medium told my mum that it was my daughter attracting the spirits, and it will happen to her for pretty much the rest of her life. And as for the spirits that have been haunting them? asked my mum, to which the medium answered, three very young girls, triplets.

The house goes through quiet and noisy stages, sometimes it will be quiet for weeks, then it’ll start again. I’ve been told recently that the girls have departed, and have been replaced by a boy. Just recently my daughter (who is now nearly 3) has started pointing to a specific corner of the living room and telling me that it is “Mac,” strange huh?
