The Old Hag Came in Threes

Posted on March 12, 2011

The “Old Hag” or “Witch on Your Back” has absolutely nothing to do with seizures or paralysis.

Basements have always made me feel uneasy. When they are dark it seems as if someone is there. When I was 13 I moved into the basement despite my protests, it was a brand-new house my parents said. Nothing could go wrong. Weird minor things happened. I ignored them because it was a basement it was normal for these things to happen in my mind. Smoke out of the corner of your eye. Shutting the door hearing it latch to find its still open…

I was painting my bedroom so I slept in the unfinished spare room. I don’t know how many nights went by before this happened but I didn’t know what to do when it did. I woke up tingly from head to toe. I tried to move my arms but it was like they were pinned by my side. There was a light, very little, out of the corner of my right eye. A minute went past which seemed like hours and I snapped out of it the light was gone but I was looking right at what I had been during this spell so I knew it was not a dream.

I moved back into my room after that night thinking it could possibly be the room itself that had something to do with what had happened. Apparently I was wrong. A couple nights later I was “visited” once again. the same tingly but no light. I recall trying to move my arms using all my strength. I knew my phone was by my head. I needed to call someone for help.

When I “snapped out of it” my arms were half way up my body close to retrieving my phone. At this point I decided to tell my boyfriend what had happened to me. He told me about the old wives tale about a witch on your back and proceeded to tell me the only way to get rid of it is to pray. So about a month later when it happened again I prayed and it worked! Until I stopped praying and it returned. It did this for a good seven times before finally leaving me be.

It has not happened since. I was 18 at the time of this happening it has been 2 years. I don’t know about you, but sleep paralysis doesn’t seem to go away and come back in the matter of seconds.

You should use Ouija board. It helps alot people. :)

    • Jaybee says:

Fan, I think, judging from the amount of stories on here, that it would be far more advisable for folks to stay away from Ouija boards. They seem to hurt far and away more people than they help. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve seen anything where someone was actually helped by a Ouija board.

      • BekkieLassy says:

        I completely agree with Jaybee.
@Fan. I think you sould visit the Ouija board section of this site. Its way to dangerous to take that chance with the witch.
If a spirit/ghost realy want to contact you it will with out the use of ene boad game of the comunicating sort.

I had my dealings with “old hag” when I was a child. It was the most terrifying thing that ever happened to me. It happened often, and I could always tell on any given night when it would happen. We also moved a hundred miles away one time. I was certain it wouldn’t find me. It didn’t for a few months and I thought I had eluded it. I was wrong. It then continued about once a month for a few more years. I finally got old enough and fed up enough to confront it. I decided to challenge it to come to me one night. Apparently, it accepted the challenge. As the hag sat upon my chest cackleling, I decided to fight. I convinced myself I was no longer afraid and confronted my demon. As soon as I was no longer scared, I had the ability to swing my arms freely and try to hit the hag. After several well meaning swings, it was gone. Although I never made physical contact with anything I knew that was the last time it would ever happen, and I was right. That was over 30 years ago. What I learned from my experience and reading other peoples as well, is that it feeds on fear. It doesn’t matter if you use your own aggression as I did, or prayer, or just put yourself into a calm state of mind. As long as you are afraid, it can feed.

Im kind of disturbed that you would tell someone so freely to use a ouiji board. if you dont know what your doing and wrongly contact someone it could be catastrophic. my friend will never be the same. and i dont think its the fear. ive been scared at night for my entire life ive been told by many people im being followed. recently ive seen a face half way in/ out of a window as i was driving past the face was blue though the man looked black he had sunken eyes. i have moved out of the basement and now life in a place that has no basement. despite not having a basement weird things are happening and i dont know if its just my imagination but things always go missing and turn up right infront of my face. weird things have happened since i was a child my first home friends houses and after i leave the occurances end. like “the basement” my younger sister and her friend who rents now lives down there and they do not have anything to report even small

The first time I dealt with sleep paralysis it felt more like a demon was holding onto me and laughing in my ear because I couldn’t get out of it : / I haven’t had it in months but your story makes me believe it might happen again.

  5. Mrs.Varner says:

This kind of reminds me of “Las Brujas (The Witches)” my Colombian friend has told me. Her aunt was having similar experiences of feeling smothered after she got a new boyfriend. My Colombian friend told me that to cure this, you tell the “Bruja” to come get some salt. The person haunting you will be drawn to your house and…ask for some salt! There also sashes blessed by the church that you wear in your sleep. When la Bruja comes to you, you essentially “whip” her and she leaves you alone.

  6. BekkieLassy says:

I am Sooooo glad some one see it the way I do.
It’s not sleep parilysis when it goes away the minute u pray.
It’s a demon or ghost pinning you to your bed.
How can some people talk about a ghost standing next to their bed and then they see it climb on their bed, having marks all over their boddy and stil call it sleep parilysis?!!!!
I completely agree with you Visited
