It was a normal day for me; I took the bus to school, stayed until three, and then went to a local thrift-shop to see if anything was worth buying. Nothing out of the ordinary.
I had been at the shop for almost ten minutes when I felt something… odd about the atmosphere around me. It was almost like someone was trying to get my attention, but since the store was nearly empty, I downplayed it as being my own imagination. After a while, I went up to the second floor where the books were. When I was walking up the steps, I felt something cool brush by, like a breeze. It was not unpleasant, but I still got a it freaked out.
The book selection at the thrift-shop is never that great, but I still like to poke around. When I was looking at an old paperback novel, I heard something, almost like a floorboard creak. I looked up but I saw that no one was on the floor. Getting seriously unnerved, I decided to call it quits and go home before my parents got home from work.
As I was turning the corner to go down the steps, I heard the creak again and turned. In the direction I JUST came from was a girl around my age. She had pale skin, caramel-colored hair and warm, chocolate eyes. She was standing there, completely relaxed, with her arms crossed over her front. I let out a sigh and laughed, making her smile. I immediately stopped; her smile was different from any other I had EVER seen. It was warm, wise and kind.
I was staring, and I knew it, but it was impossible to look away from her face. Her eyes were locked with mine and I could almost SEE the wisdom in them. She looked over her shoulder and sighed, but it was silent. When she looked back at me, her smile had softened to the point where she looked neutral. I was about to ask her name but then she began to walk towards me. The feelings I had had when I first entered the store vanished as she passed me, replaced by the feeling of pure warmth. When I looked around for her, I could not find her again.
On my way home, I was picked up by my brother and I told him everything. He chuckled and played it off as my imagination, but I KNEW for a FACT that I had seen her.
From then on, I go to the thrift shop to see if I can see her again. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I completely strike out. There was one time when I was there looking for her that I saw her looking down at a toddler who was crying over a toy. She patted the kid’s head and he immediately stopped crying and began laughing–almost like he was being tickled. Needless to say, his mother was grateful for the change of attitude.
I want to know if she’s a ghost or an angel – the feeling she gave off was so calming that I could believe either. Does anyone know anything about what she might want? She always looks so peaceful when I see her. She also roams all around the shop, as if she’s keeping watch over it.

I wonder what she is too. Its nice to hear a story like this where ypur left with a pleasant feeling and calm. I wonder if anyone knows. Great story.
The owner said he has seen her leaning over the railing when he is closing the shop.
Apparently, she likes the second floor. The owner also said that she’s been there since he bought the place.
Very cool story,I wonder who she is?
It makes you wonder what her connection to the place is. I wonder. She obviously loves the building and its patrons at least.
That’s a great story, I bet she is an angel, to have the warmth and calm she let out.
Scare of …what?
As I clearly read in people’s mind – a celestial gift I can’t help, I see that you made up that story, to get attention. You got mine, what else?
What makes you think this story is made up? I have read many others on here that sounded way more ficticious than this one. I believe its a true & very beatiful story
I am not sure if it is real. To me, it is more like a fiction story.
I liked this story, and found it believable as well. But you jus never know who’s stories are fictious and who’s are not. Thanks for sharing!
