My Nightmare And The Dark Figure

Posted on February 22, 2009

I’m almost 30 and I have had two encounters that truly warrant some wonder.

When I was five years old, I lived in Luther, Oklahoma. A very small town. I had a cousin stay the night one night who was three years older than myself. I have to start out the morning after. I awoke with nightmares still in my head and a mysterious and strange looking sore on my leg. The sore triggered the full memory of the nightmare I had. So I began to tell my cousin my odd nightmare. Who in turn told me she had had the exact same dream.

We both looked at a plastic covered window to see a very distinct line cut through it.  Now I will tell you what we both had assumed a very bad dream. We had lain for a while trying to sleep when a figure appeared on the outside of my makeshift plastic window frame. When the figure sliced through the plastic with a knife and reached in and scrapped my leg with the knife. With the make shift window now sliced I could see the figure clearly as a young but also somehow ancient soldier.

I’m not sure to this day how I ever got to sleep and assumed that my experience was a dream but I did. And my cousin still shivers to this day if you speak the word soldier even in casual conversation. I have a scar now on my leg from where the odd scrape appeared that night. This happened in 1984 or 85. But with the wrong trigger still gives me nightmares.

When I was 13 years old I met my husband to be for the first time. I was on the outskirts of Weleetka, Oklahoma about where the line meets Dustin, Oklahoma. I had not seen my father in a couple of years and my younger brother, sister and myself had come for a visit.

On a stormy early evening in summer, while my father was away at work I heard a knock on the door. I went to answer the door… about 30 yards maybe 40 at most, a dark figure stood. My best description would be a silhouette of a dark cowboy wearing a cowboy hat and a long trench coat. The hat tilted so you couldn’t make out a face, and it seemed he hovered off the ground as if he had no feet. The figure never moved while in my sight, and never spoke. I did yell across the short distance to ask what he needed. I never thought at first of danger, I was in small town in Oklahoma, I felt no need of it. The figure just stayed still as a statue. Eventually I did get scared and shut and locked the door.

A few moments later I looked out the window to see if the “man” was still there but he was gone. Keeping in mind that I was 13 when I saw this, 1993 maybe 94.

I married my husband in 2000. One day as I was talking to my mother in law and we were talking about spirits and she told me of a spirit that visited her around 1980 maybe before. She described her visitor exactly the same as the dark figure I had seen in the woods that night so many years ago. She said she was living in Henryetta, Oklahoma at the time.

I often wonder if it is a spirit watching over my husband. It seems the two times I can ever account for him my husband was involved. The thought of him still scares me, being so dark and quiet. I just hope I never see him again.

this might have been scary but remember most ghosts can’t hurt u

  2. Jackie says:

This is quite unusual, i’ve not come across a story like this before.

Here I go again, but whatever cut your leg was obviously evil and it seems to me to be either a demon or maneavalont spirit.

The second visiter with the cowboy hat was Caretaker!!

  3. The Caretaker says:

Jackie, you promised you would never tell! :)

  4. Jackie says:

Is that why you changed my avatar again, to get me back lol

    • The Caretaker says:

I have no control over your avatar lady but if I did I would change it to look like mine except for with long hair.

  5. Jackie says:

    LOL!

Now when ya going to stop scaring people in the dead of night? You’re freaking this poor girl out and who knows how many others.

  6. jackie says:

You can’t get out of it that easy, everyone uses that one nowadays. Just own up, you will be respected for it!!

  7. jackie says:

    April,

sorry about that, just couldn’t resist. :)

Being serious now, but it didn’t seem as though this was causing any threat to you, so I wouldn’t be too concerned about it. It’s the first encounter that is the most disturbing.

  8. Alpha says:

Those were some pretty scary encounters you had my friend….
Particularly the one where the figure sliced through the makeshift window and stabbed your leg. I would have been petrified!

As for the mysterious stranger in the trench coat and cowboy hat….i’m not sure why he came to see you. Unless you had made contact already with your to-be husband and his mum? He may have came to you then to just check you out (not like a date-date thing) but perhaps his meeting had more a significant impact, considering the foreboding, eerie circumstances….(thunderstorm and so on)

I’m guessing it was also quite a strong spirit in order for it to have stayed visible for so long….

    Take care man

(lolz at jackie…caretaker coming to visit her! Nice one)

  9. jackie says:

    Alpha,

hand shake offered…after saying your writing was getting too intellectual! No offence!!! ;)

  10. crystal mustard says:

just curious which part of Luther you were in?i live in Luther now and just wondered which house this occured in.

  11. Tanjiwah says:

I have seen this figure also and so has my three siblings and my mother I have seen the face and it also has a hunched kinda back like it is hiding something under it’s trench coat all that I know is that it is evil and that I wish I didn’t have to encounter this evil being. Long story to gonwith this but no reason for me to relive it

  12. Bella says:

Wow, thats really scary. I think the spirit that cut your leg must have died on a battle field and got mad or something so he took revenge on you. Did he do anything to you cousin?
