The Ghost Runner

Posted on June 18, 2010

I have always believed in paranormal and the supernatural. My first incident with something paranormal was when I was 6 or 7. I am 14 now.

When I was about 6 or 7 I was home alone with my brother. I was in the hallway standing outside of my brother’s room and at the other end of the hallway was my room and adjacent to it was my parent’s room. The hallway light, my room’s light, and my parents room’s light were all off except for my brother’s. I was going to go to my room but I have always been extremely afraid of the dark so I just stood there trying to build the courage to. For awhile I was just staring into my room. Well when I was I saw this gray/black-ish figure (darker than the darkness) run out of my parent’s room and through the wall. I got really scared and ran to the computer room (where my brother was) which was at the other side of the house, and stayed there like all night thinking about what happened. I thought it was a ghost but I really wasn’t sure though. Then I don’t really remember what happened after that.

That being the first time seeing a “ghost” I couldn’t really forget it. So I gave it a name. “The Ghost Runner”

Then when I was about 9 or 10 (I really think I was 10) I was sitting In the living room doing my homework. Whenever you’re in the living room you can see a little bit of the dining room (because there is this walkway to there) I was looking down at my homework just drifting off (Because it was about 9-ish) and I saw this white/gray-ish figure run across the walkway (where I was able to see it) and through the wall. I got scared and ran out of the living room into my room. And then I remember about the time I first saw it. And I thought it was “The Ghost Runner” again.

Then not that long after that, I was in the kitchen getting myself a glass of water. I was in a part of the kitchen where you can’t see into the dining room. (The dining room light wasn’t on only a small light in the kitchen was) I was gonna put the water jug back into the fridge. I was walking to the fridge (the fridge was at the right and the dining room at the left) And I was at the part of the kitchen where I could see the dining room. While walking, I saw this figure running in the corner of my eye. (from the corner of my eye) It looked like a person, so I thought it was my brother. I thought he was trying to scare me (because he know I get scared easily). I was about to yell “stop that” at him so I turned to him but I said “St-” and my mouth dropped because I saw it. It was a black/gray figure (like a human) running. It ran through the door into the laundry room and the door was closed. I looked straight at it and I was 100% sure it WASN’T my imagination. For a few seconds I just stood there stunned. Then I put the water jug on the counter and ran to my parents room as fast as I could. And I was going to tell them I saw a ghost but I knew they wouldn’t believe me, so I didn’t say anything. I saw it again,”The Ghost Runner”.

That was the last time I saw it. But I still get scared that I would see it again. Last summer I got REALLY interested into paranormal and supernatural stuff, so I read a lot about it on the internet. I came across this one thing about “shadow people”. I read it and it described what I saw those times. So I guess “The Ghost Runner” was a Shadow Person.

So me, being a VERY easily to scared, Stayed up most nights because I would hear things and sometimes see and because I’ve been reading about supernatural things too. So most nights I would stay awake, because I was too afraid to sleep. Sometimes I would close my eyes for like a few seconds then open them and close and so on (because I was afraid to close my eyes) until I was too tired and fall asleep, or I would just like sleep with one eye open. And whenever I would hear something I would turn my lamp on. And it annoyed my mom a lot. So sometimes I would sleep with her. And when I would I would see things. The hallway was like completely dark except this small light in my room. I would look out into the hall and I would see these shadow people I guess walking in and out of my room. It really creeped me out so I hid under the covers and I was too afraid to keep looking to see if it was real or my imagination and I wasn’t sleeping though. It happened like all the times I slept in her room. In the fall when school started again I began less scared and paranoid of that.and just forgot about all of that.

Seeing those shadow people were the last time I saw something like that, so I haven’t seen anything paranormal for a year and I haven’t seen “The Ghost Runner” for a few years, and I kind of hope I don’t see him again. I don’t think he intends to harm me though, because I’ve lived in this house all my life. Also this was the first time telling ANYONE about my experience

In the last house I lived in, I also experienced something just like that too. A distinct memory that I have from that house was when I was about 12 years old. I was sitting in my bedroom reading a book and the door to my closet opened. I just sat there staring at it for awhile, a little scared as to what could have done it. As I started to get up, a black figure ran out of my closet and disappeared into the wall. That was the first time I saw it. After that, I started to see them a lot. It really scared me. On one occasion, I saw a man. He looked just like a human, he wasn’t transparent or anything like I thought ghosts were supposed to be. He disappeared right in front of me, though. You won’t believe how much it scared me! I was really happy to move out of that house, but now, maybe not so much. I live in a brand new house now, but I still see these shadow people, or whatever they’re called. It’s either that this house is built on bad land, or that something followed me. I don’t really know what do to. My parents don’t believe me and my brothers and sisters are calling me crazy. Well, anyway, thank you for sharing your story. It made me feel like I’m not so alone in seeing these things.

  6. trolldoll says:

i too saw a shadowman. he was just standing there. i did a double take, did i just see the black outline of a man? i looked again and he was gone. he could have been young or maybe my age. i don’t know. i saw the outline of his head and hair and i knew he was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. i have never seen him since and it was a bright sunny morning and there was a sun lit window behind him. who knows why he was there. i don’t think they will harm you. but they sure leave ya guessing don’t they!!

  7. Ghost Girl says:

That is extremely creppy. If it just happened to you when you were six, I would say that it was just an over-active imagination, all young children have them. But since it has happened on more then one occasion, well, you can’t be as sure with that. I do believe in ghosts/spirits, but I make sure that there is no possible way that it could be something else before I jump the train and call it a haunting. You said that you get scared extremely easily? When you were ten do you think that it might of been possible, even not knowingly, that you could of been thinking about what happened when you were six? Like you were expecting to see something, so you did? I’m not saying that is what happened, but it could be a cause. Good luck figuring out what the running man is.

Well when I first saw it when I was 6 was really the only time I thought about it much. And when I was 10 I kinda forgot about it cause I thought it was my imagination and such.So I wasnt thinking of it.

Not all “shadow people” are deceased (ghosts). People can create shadows when they’re living that can scare the daylights out of others. This usually happens unintenionally, when people are dreaming, and they are having an astral projection. And of course there are people are do astral projections on purpose and create the same “shadow”- which is merely energy. It has been written about in books before, dealing with the subject. Why would someone living be a shadow in our house, especially if we don’t know them? People sometimes “travel” in their dreams via astral projection and usually have no memory in the morning of where they’ve been.

Sometimes you’ll dream that you’re in a strange house, and lights won’t come on or you’ll see people you don’t know, and you’ll wake up wondering what that dream was about. That astral projection might be what just happened. Some houses, apartments, etc. are portals for this activity, too. No one knows why, really- it can be for different reasons.

I’m not saying certain shadow people aren’t in fact ghosts or demons, but I wouldn’t worry about seeing them, if you’re mentally sound and you have no other paranormal activity in your house otherwise.

i last saw my shadowman about two to three years ago. ever since then the sightings have become fewer and fewer. can you tell me why? when we moved here five years ago it was quite frequent.

  9. Believer says:

    Hi!
Reminds me of a book I read quite a while
back, it was called “The Walking” about
a man that bought a old metal hospital
to make it into a hotel and he would see
    these people walking throught walls.

I have seen a shadow person in the old
nuns court in SA and it growled at me
    and then jumped.
