My grandparents lived in this old house in Jacksonville Florida for as long as I could remember. They’re gone now and I’m much older (well not that old in my mid 30′s).
Me and my sister used to go stay with them when our parents needed a night out. I loved to spend time with them but when nightfall came the atmosphere of the house changed. We had to stay in what was called the back room. It was the last room at the end of a long hall way. You had to pass a little room and a bathroom to get to our room on the end.
I had the unfortunate problem of having go to the bathroom three or four times a night. The scary part was the little room. It was only big enough for a twin bed on one wall and a washer and dryer on the other wall. There was just a little walking area in between the two. Every time you walked past the room at night you felt the need to rush by it as if someone would reach out and grab you.
Well one weekend some other family members were staying over too so I had to sleep alone in the little room. I was terrified from the moment I got dropped off. It was one thing to walk past the room another to be stuck in it all night alone. Needless to say I didn’t sleep a wink. But that night I did see something I’ve never seen anywhere else. While I was laying in bed something drew my attention to the window. The moon was out full so I could see clearly. But what I saw was a man’s face. It didn’t look ominous just blank. He just stared at me all night long.
I stayed up all night trying not to move or let him know I saw him… hey I was only 10 or so. My thinking wasn’t all rational or anything. But he never moved or blinked an eye, just looked at me. I got up to go to the bathroom a few times and stayed in there as long as I could but my great grandpa came in there once trying to figure out what I was doing so that option was out. But every time I went back to the room the man’s face was still there in the same spot, staring.
I told my sister about it and the next time we stayed there together we went in the room that night in the dark to look again and she said she could see him too. we told our family about it and the other kids said they never liked the hall way either. Needless to say we didn’t ever sleep in there again.
The house is gone now and I never knew who he was or why he was there but I’ll never forget how scared he made me or the dread of having to walk down that hallway at night.

Ah! Thats my worst fear! Looking out the window and having someone starring back at you. I would have cried lol no lie
i believe what you saw was matrixing. Matrixing is a phenomenon where the brain comes up with putting the pieces together to make, in your case, a face. I don’t think a ghostly face that you experienced would stay for the whole night therefore my theory.
that’s weird and creepy. i wonder who it was. thanks for the scary story!
yeah that is strange, is that the only thing that happened in the house? but it would be creepy to see a face looking back at you!
I’m with Other on this one. Matrixing can look totally real, and be very scary. I’ve have numerous experiences with it. In college, there was a house that had one window that faced into an alley, and if you walked down the alley towards it at night, between the curtains, the streetlamps, and the reflection, it looked for all the world like the Virgin Mary. But once you got close to it, you could see exactly WHY it looked like that. And I thought I saw a face in a window, once, too, and it turned out to be the wallpaper reflected in it in just the right way. Both of them scared the heck out of me at first, though.
