Amazing, never thought I would ever stumble across another person who has had an experience involving black cats like myself. I was only six at the time when I had this beyond strange experience, but I know it happened, I know what I saw!
One afternoon I was upstairs in my parents room playing, and the door was open to their private walkout (porch). Anyway, something had caught my cat’s attention at the screen door, he was very agitated I recall. I went over by him and looked out the door . At first nothing, then moments later some black cats appeared walking out of a path from the woods. I cannot remember how many. Six maybe seven? Cannot remember. But they came out in a single file line. There was a tree stump in the clearing behind our house, and the cats walked to it and assembled themselves like they were having a meeting!
There was one cat amongst them who was significantly bigger than the rest. He (for some reason to this day I feel it was a he) took a seat on the stump, and the other sat and faced him. They were all intently looking at him, and he at them. Now I’m watching this out the screen door, and my cat Shadow, who by the way looked just like them, sheer coincidence I’m sure, was flipping out. Shadow was hissing, spitting, growling, you name it Shadow was doing it. But those cats “things” never acknowledged him. Not Once. Me I was mesmerized by them! I called to them over and over, and got no reaction.
I ran down stairs to the kitchen to grab something to give them, see if that would work. I remember grabbing Oscar Meyer bologna, cut me some slack, I was six! And yes I was a weird kid! Anyway I remember my mom asking me what I was doing, I said trying to feed some hungry kitties, and took off back upstairs.
When I got back upstairs they were still there. And my cat was still flipping out, poor Shadow. I opened the screen door and threw food down toward the cats. They didn’t even look over! So about now you would think I should be scared. Their behavior was so strange. I called a couple more times, and finally one acknowledged me, well sort of. It was the big one sitting before the others. He merely glanced up at me, stared at me briefly, then turned his head away back towards the others. Shortly thereafter they quietly walked back into the woods.
I ran downstairs and outside to the back of the house and into the woods where the cats had gone, and they were nowhere be found. I never saw them again. I told my mom about it, of course she didn’t believe me. Guess it doesn’t help when your a strange child to begin with. To this day my mom recalls that “incident”. She said even though to this day she wants to believe it was just my fantastical imagination at work, she just can’t wrap her head around it. I was obviously not dreaming because, well I didn’t nap, I was a hyper six year old. But she has admitted that it scared her, and it just made her even more uneasy about being home at night alone with the kids in that big house in the woods. My father worked the late shift you see.
We stayed there about another year not even. I believe in the bizarre, I’ve seen it. And with that strange encounter, I’d learned that there are things out there that escape rational explanation. Like my mother had said to this day she can’t wrap her head around it. Well I’m the one that experienced it, and saw it with my own two eyes. And I cannot wrap my head around it either. No, I didn’t grow up disturbed either! I’m a perfectly normal individual living my perfectly normal life with that little exception.
