This true life experience dates back to the summer of 2002, when I used to be employed at one of the more expensive beach resorts in Goa, India. The Indian Law states that no part of the coastline in the country can be held as privately owned except by the Naval Forces, as a result, the beach front of the resort I worked for, was free to be accessed by people other than the resort guests, which the hotel management strongly discouraged. The management, therefore, had posted 3 security personnel on the beach at night to deter anyone trying to enter the hotel property from the shore.

I remember quite clearly that the management was always short on security personnel on the beach. Security staff was either reluctant to be posted there and if they did, I do not remember many who lasted more than a couple of weeks at work. Most would request to be re posted on other sites around the 100 acre resort or would just turn in their resignations.

The reason to this reluctance was revealed to me one day when I just happened to befriend one of the security staff (I do not remember his name, so let me call him Joe). In our conversations, he told me of the strange sights and sounds that would scare the living daylights out of the bravest men. Being a great admirer of modern sciences, I was more than just skeptical of these “paranormal” occurrences at a modern day Five Star Deluxe Resort (which, by the way, was not even a year old, bunking any theories of ‘old building hauntings’). I voiced my skepticism to Joe, who took so great an offense that he promised to show me shift log books that they record once they have finished their shifts(let me tell you that security log books are kept with utmost secrecy and is not usually accessible to staff other than the ones in the department).

A couple of days after this conversation, Joe came up to me and offered to take me to the security office where the Log Books where kept. The Security Supervisor was on vacation, leaving Joe in charge, which made it easily accessible.

I started reading a Log from sometime in April 2002. One of our ex security personnel posted there wrote about strange lights that would float in the sea at night, like “scattered Glow worms over an area of 2000 square feet”.

One log entry by someone else mentions 2 kids playing all by themselves on the beach at around 2:00 am. Now there’s nothing strange about kids playing at a beach, but what freaked me out here is that it is highly unlikely in Goa for anyone to be out at this time of the night.There are no settlements nearby the resort (The nearest resort to mine, would be at least a 30 minute walk).This log further reads that the personnel went ahead to check on these kids and see if they belonged to any hotel guests.On approaching the kids, the security does remember asking a few questions to them but strangely does not remember the answers or what they looked like. He also reports that he went into some sort of trance as he felt “woken up” by the other security staff on the beach who had noticed him just standing all by himself on the desolated beach. This is where it becomes really freaky!!Security number 2 acknowledges that he did see security number one the beach but did not recall any children playing by. He further logs that this strange behavior of his colleague prompted him to call him out on a walkie talkie, which he failed to answer. On going up to security one, he found out that he seemed to stare at the empty space of the beach as if in a trance.

The strangest Log there was one which was entered somewhere in May 2002. This entry mentions of “more than 7 feet tall” man who swam to the beach from the ocean. The entry also mentions that this strange being who definitely had a clear human outline, which the staff was able to see due the moonlit sky, walked on the beach rather strangely”as if he were about to faint”. The creature in question, strolled clumsily around the beach for a few minutes before deciding to go back to the sea.

These Log Entries were the only ones I was able to read before someone walked into the office. Not wanting to put Joe in any trouble, I never requested Joe to let me read the rest of the logs. Joe, told me that all the security personnel who had these strange experiences had put in their resignations the very next day. Joe also told me that management, did take these stories seriously once and posted extra personnel and a senior manager on the beach for 4 consecutive nights but nothing of interest came up, so they decided to discontinue the extra manning.

No one had any explanation to these occurrences and security staff continued to quit. I quit the resort soon after that for better prospects but old friends continue to be in touch with me and still tell me that the strange happenings continue.
