Haunted Hampton Inn Chicago Crestwood

During mid January 2011 I traveled from Detroit to Chicago to work on some machinery at a local plant. On the second day of my trip I wrapped up at the plant and couldn’t wait to get back to my hotel: the Hampton inn Crestwood on Cicero Ave.

Upon arrival and watching television I turned off the lights and laid on my side waiting to drift off to sleep. Immediately after closing my eyes, I felt as though I was not alone or someone was watching me. I rotated my head to the left and saw something extremely dark waving in front of my eyes. After lifting my head up a little to get a better look I realized that it was not the blankets waving or anything.

I quickly rolled completely over to the left and I saw a dark mass quickly back away but remain beside the bed.

The mass was only about three or for feet higher …

Creepy Old Man in a Painting

A little background on this story – when I was still in middle school we would take one week-long class trip a year (we called them “Spring Trip”) and we would go places that had relevance to whatever topics we were studying that year. Because class sizes were small, grades 6-8 were taught together for a majority of the classes. Spring trip took all three grades at once.

This particular Spring Trip is one I will never forget. I was in the eighth grade and we were visiting the city of San Francisco. I don’t remember the name of the hotel we were staying in, but I ended up in a room with one of my friends. Over every bed in the place was what appeared to be a painting of an elderly man in wire-rimmed glasses. In his hands was a lady’s heeled boot and he appeared to be sitting inside of a workshop, like he made boots.

On …

A Beach Side Haunting

This true life experience dates back to the summer of 2002, when I used to be employed at one of the more expensive beach resorts in Goa, India. The Indian Law states that no part of the coastline in the country can be held as privately owned except by the Naval Forces, as a result, the beach front of the resort I worked for, was free to be accessed by people other than the resort guests, which the hotel management strongly discouraged. The management, therefore, had posted 3 security personnel on the beach at night to deter anyone trying to enter the hotel property from the shore.

I remember quite clearly that the management was always short on security personnel on the beach. Security staff was either reluctant to be posted there and if they did, I do not remember many who lasted more than a couple of weeks at work. Most would request to be re posted on other …

Our Strange Occurrences at the Crescent Hotel

My friend and I stayed this past weekend in room 213. We had several things happen while we were there. Odd things that occurred and left us believing for sure that there is some type of paranormal activity that resides at the Crescent.

The first thing we had happen – We were ready to leave for town, or a little shopping – this was on October 1st. I had laid my camera beside my purse on the bed. I had go to the rest room, my friend was in the other bathroom area putting on her makeup. After I came out I asked her where my camera was. We both were looking for it only to find it was laying on top of my suitcase rocking back and forth about to fall off, it was barely even on the suit case. It shocked us both and made chill bumps go on our arms, we took numerous pictures of it.

Then …

Falstaff Hotel in Canterbury

My family have experienced all sorts of things when they were younger, and I seemed to have inherited a sort of “sensitive” gene. For example my dad saw his mum after she died, and his dad saw his grandmother after she died, and Mum and I have experienced feelings of being followed or watched etc.

But this is my story. I was born in England and then moved to Australia. My grandparents and uncles, aunts and cousins live in England still so we traveled back to visit them. We decided to stay in the Falstaff hotel in Canterbury which seemed really nice at the time.

My mum and I were really tired so we decided to watch TV in our room. Mum had dropped off to sleep and I was still watching TV. I suddenly got really tired and turned off the TV and got ready for bed. As soon as I laid my head on the pillow, something said …

Ghost at Macomber Hotel Cape May

It all started with a tour of the Macomber Hotel in Cape May. The tour guide had said that room 10 was haunted, and that many odd sightings occurred. My Aunt Teresa and Aunt Ruthie were in that room! We were a few doors down! Since I was really little, I can’t remember how I felt. Did I even know what a ghost was? I probably didn’t care.

Anyway, nighttime soon came. An old lady died in the hotel, so… I climbed in bed with my mom, being about two years old. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling a strange presence. I sat up in bed, and saw it – a white ghost, with honestly no shape at all, white yet transparent, black, deep eye sockets, and its mouth open in an oval shape. It was just sitting at the end of my bed, looking sad and very depressed – the old lady! Since I was …

Ghost Soldier In Hotel

Before this experience I myself was a skeptic – not believing in any ghost story – however this has changed my opinion completely.

Me and my friend Becky work at a hotel which was built on top of an old hospital, used during the war to treat injured soldiers.

When we were working late one night, we heard squeaking coming from the corridor.  However, when I checked to see if anyone was there, the hall was empty.  The noise sounded as if it passed right by me but there was nothing to be seen. We found that past employees had heard the same noises.

A month later an advertiser was in taking pictures of the hotel. When the pictures were developed we were horrified to see a man with an army uniform in a wheelchair looking round the door to the lounge into the very same corridor.

The manager then decided to tell us that a guest reported that her …

Ghost Picture From The Haunted Georgetown Hotel

Ghost Picture - Georgetown Haunted HotelIt isn’t often that we find a good ghost picture to add to the site, but we just received a really amazing looking picture from the HPI paranormal investigation team of California.

The team was investigating the haunted Georgetown Hotel and one of the staff captured this photo of a ghostly figure which seems to be looking out a window.

The picture was shot by Holly DeLaughter on Dec. 8, 2007, so it is barely a few days old as we publish it here on True Ghost Tales.

The picture you see here is scaled down. Visit the link below to see the full size ghost picture.

I invite everyone to return to this page and post a comment after you check out this ghost picture. Let everyone know what you think about it.

Ghosts In The Delta Chelsea Hotel

Submitted to us by K.

Hello, here is my story. My parents and I went to Toronto for a week because my mom had broken her foot and needed the hospital there, I was 13.

We stayed at the Delta Chelsea there for a couple of nights, and on the 3rd night I believe, I woke up in the hotel room and I saw a really dark figure in the corner of the room leaning over my dad’s part of the bed and moving around, like he was packing. I figured it was my dad but something wasn’t right.

So I called to him “dad?” over and over again but he didn’t even look at me. Then on the eighth call I woke my mom and she yelled at me. I ignored it and I asked very worried if dad was still in the bed with her. I heard my dad grunt and sigh and I looked back up at …

The Haunted Stanley Hotel of Estes Park

Did you see Stephen King’s The Shining? The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado (About 45 minutes away from Boulder) was King’s inspiration for the movie. The hotel has been reported to be haunted be a few ghosts.

The Shining wasn’t shot at the hotel even though many people think it was. When King began work on the novel he actually locked himself up in room number 217.

When the Stanley Hotel opened it’s doors in 1909 it was the only hotel anywhere in the world to have electric power. The hotel was originally owned by Lord Dunraven and was later sold to Stanley Steamer inventor F. Stanley.

The ghost of Lord Dunraven has been reported to haunt the 4th floor. A lot of ghost activity has been reported near the bathroom door of room number 407. Hotel guests have also reported hearing child ghosts playing and laughing in the 4th floor hallway.

Haunted Stanley HotelThe ghost of Stanley seems to prefer …

Ghosts at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs

Submitted to us by Leslie Wilson

Just wanting to get away for a few days, my daughter and I headed north to Eureka Springs, AR. It’s been a goal of mine to visit the Crescent Hotel for many years.

The first thing we do when we arrive in Eureka Springs is get directions to this fabulous hotel. As we drive into the parking lot, I can already tell this is going to be an adventure. I grab my digital camera (with extra batteries) and start taking pictures.

We planned to take the “Ghost Tour” that night, but when we started to sign up, ‘something’ told me to wait, do this tour the ‘next’ night instead. So we went for a carriage ride that night, outside the Crescent Hotel. The ride was fun, breezy and very informative. (We were told a lot about the history of Eureka Springs). When our ride was over, we tried taking some pictures, but they were …

Haunted Midway Hotel

Submitted to us by Deyhonn Christine Brown

Every year my mum’s side of the family would have an annual family Christmas Party. Well, one year in 2003, we had it in a hotel called the Midway Hotel (Best Western) in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Like I said in the previous story, the Creepy Haunted Antique Porcelain Doll, my cousin Vanessa and my sister Hannah are like best friends and we all get along quite well. Any way, I was walking around looking for the game room (because that was where my sister and cousin had been). I was standing on a stair way leading down to where the pool was, and I saw this man in a very formal suit walking towards the doors (they were those swinging doors).

I was assuming that there was a wedding reception going on, until he turned around. His face was all deteriorated and he moved his fingers as if he wanted me to …
