Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

My grandparents bought a block of land in the mid 1950′s in Sydney Australia. They build a brand new modest 2 bedroom home on the property, they lived in the house with my father who was an only child. My grandparents worked often so my father was home alone most of the week. A few times during his childhood my father would see a dark tall figure walking down the hallway, he asked his mother about it but she completely dismissed the story. Then after my eldest brother was born my mother was sitting in the living room with him adjacent to the hallway. The living room doorway was covered by 2 glass doors, my mother felt as if there was someone near her she turned and saw a shadowy figure pass by the glass doors, she scooped up my brother and ran after it, all she could see was this dark full colored cloud disappear into thin air.

When my grandmother fell ill we moved into the house as caretakers, my mother started telling me the stories about the ghost, well I didn’t believe her. My room was next to the kitchen which gave me a clear view straight into the hallway, one morning I was getting ready for school I was 14, My brother has left for school and half hour prior my mother had laid down for a sleep, it was 7:00 am in the morning very bright. I was putting on my uniform getting ready to brush my hair when out of the corner of my eye I saw a skinny tall black figure hurrying down the hallway, I turned my head and caught a glimpse of a solid black leg and shoe in plain sight. I was frozen, I couldn’t understand what I had just seen, I was in complete disbelief. 5 minutes later I went down the hallway all doors and windows where locked, I went up to my mothers room she had been fast asleep, Who was this person? to this day I don’t know!

A few month later I swapped rooms with my brother, this room was connected directly to the hallway, Straight away I started hearing footsteps it sounded like heavy boots walking up the hallway then after about 2-3 minutes the noise would stop, I was too scared to look out the door I would sit in my bed huddled under the quilt in fear. The ghost haunted that house for 40 years but never hurt a soul, a few years after we sold the house and they knocked it down, I wonder why
