Hi my name is Chris and this is my story. I come from Chesterfield and used to live as a young child in Brimington, Chesterfield. When I was around 10 years old we moved to Stonegravels Chesterfield on Hazelhurst Lane. We moved to our new house on Hazelhurst Lane and I was happy to be moving home, but sad to leave my old life, but as kids are I wasn’t too upset.
At this time ghosts had never even entered my head and I wasn’t expecting what was to happen. On the first night we were unpacking all our things and I was upstairs in my new bedroom and everyone else was down stairs. I got on with my unpacking when I heard a “knock ,knock, knock,” on my bedroom wall, so I shouted what. No answer, so I shouted again and again no answer so I kept unpacking.
Then I heard it again. I thought it was my brother fooling around so I crept to my door The knocking was coming from the wall on the same side as the door. I waited for another knock, it was pretty consistent, then I heard it. I flung open the door and no one was there but the knocking continued. I went right up to where it was coming from and I heard it, but nothing.
I even entered my room and located the exact spot. That was when I knew it was weird so I went to tell my mum and made her come see, but it had stopped. When she went back down it started again. This happened every time anyone came upstairs as if it was trying to scare me.
This was not the end but I will include here one of the most frightening of the goings on. Some time later, when I had forgotten about my little knocking on the wall experience, something else happened that will stay with me forever.
Me and my brother slept in that same room and one night he woke me and said, wake up Chris there is someone in the room. I said, don’t be silly go back to sleep. He woke me three times terrified. He was in my bed with me shaking with fear and he said, look over near the window please. So I did, then I saw it, it chilled me to the bone.
There was a man standing near the window looking right at me, but it wasn’t just a man. I saw him, but I also saw through him. I was filled with fear, it was terrifying. He was there as plain as any person but he was a ghost. He stood there looking at me for five minutes or so when all of a sudden he moved.
He walked right up to my bed and stood in front of me looking at me for what seemed like forever then he went back to the window, looking out. That’s when I told my brother to switch the light on but he daren’t do it. So I plucked up all my courage and ran to the light and switched it on and he had gone then I switched it back off and he had gone so I left it on all night.
