About five weeks ago, I was watching a Doctor Who episode before I went to bed. It was set in the Tudor times. At the bottom of our stairs, there is a bathroom. Every night, before I go upstairs, I always look inside the bathroom and at the door, because I’m kinda superstitious. That night, I looked inside the bathroom and at the door and I started to climb the stairs. About five steps up, I thought I felt a breeze behind me so I looked round at the bathroom door.
When I’d left the bathroom, I’d left the door about two inches wide but when I looked again it was wide open. I dared not go near but then I saw the figure of a seven year old girl in Tudor-dress enter the bathroom. I’m an only child you see. The girl turned to look at me before she entered the bathroom and bowed her head and curtsied. As she curtsied she said, “Your Grace, its an honor,” then she turned and walked into the bathroom.
I started to walk up the stairs quite fast because I was scared but I suddenly felt a breeze sweep past me. When I got to the top of the stairs to the landing, the girl was there, standing in front of me, her head bowed. Then it suddenly clicked, it was the girl from the Doctor Who episode. The girl met the Queen. “Please your Majesty, is there anything I can do to appease you?”
I was scared to death so I stuttered, “I am not the queen, I’m a normal girl who lives here and I would like you to leave.” I was so scared as I said it that I ran straight to my room and shut the door. I heard the girl out side and she said, “please let me in. I want to be friends.” At the sound of that, I slowly opened the door and she came in. We spoke for a while and I learned she was called Marie-Anne Hooper and was a lady in waiting (in training) to the Queen but she never saw the Queen often. She told me about her and her life.
About 20 minutes into talking, I found it easy to talk to her. With her brown hair and blue eyes, she looked cute and loveable but it seemed strange that she was given away by her parents. She never tells me why. She says its too painful.
I still see her in the evening but I tell her to make something happen so I know she’s there. She sometimes comes with me to parties but I dress her up any way, even though, no one can see her. When I’ve had a row with mum or dad, she’s always there to comfort me. She has inflicted pain on me once or twice if I’ve been rude or spiteful or mean to her but I always say sorry afterwards.
I haven’t told my parents because they might think I’m loopy. But for some reason, she always goes to the bathroom when were talking.
