The Gazelle

Posted on August 29, 2011

He was going along with his donkey to obtain some salt near of the lake. It was his daily job and did that tolerantly. In that desert had not heard except the wings sound and the sound of his step and his donkey. The weather was warm and it seemed the sunshine was trying to burn his skin. The road was lengthy and he had to walk out. He stood for a moment and took out his flask and drank a swig of water and walked out again. In some part of the way he had to ride on the donkey but finally reached beside the dry lake.

It was about 2 afternoon and he was tired, hungry and thirsty so decided to rest, lunch, drink and sleep for an hour. As ever he went toward under a poplar tree nearby a low hill that passed a narrow stream of there. Sat beside the stream and washed his hand and face. A cool water in that barren wilderness and hot weather was very pleasurable. He drank some water too, so took out his pack from donkeys blanket and sat under the shadow of tree and opened it. He had some domestic bread and cheese that was very delicious. Ate those and so slept.

Almost after an hour woke up took his shovel and went to collect some salt of lake bed. When he gathered, came back, closed his pack and brought up his donkey near the heap of salts to load. When the blanket became full of the salt he decided return toward his village. At that time suddenly he saw a wonder thing. A gazelle was inside the stream and was drinking water. After a few seconds his wonder changed to avidity.

Thought: is the fortune better than it in this dead area? If I can get it, god know how much is its cost. But after the moments he became uneasy and told himself: but how I get it? by which tool? I have not even a rope. He was thinking and didn’t know how to solve that problem. When he didn’t find any solution attempted to approach it slowly and silently but when he reached near it escaped and 200 meter thither stopped and looked at him.

When he saw that gazelle stopped again his avidity became more and deemed it is not very elusive and would became captured. By this imagine he pursued it but when he reached near it escaped again. This period repeated frequently and his hot avidity didn’t abate until became the sundown time and that man wasn’t attentive. At this time that gazelle reached to a mountain with vertically and flat rocks. When he approached it climbed from that high and smooth rocks and when reached on top stopped and stand at gaze to him. He looked above and asked of himself: oh how it climbed from this high and smooth rocks that it is not any cracks on those.

Then he looked at sky and sun that had been gone beyond the mountains so thought more: oh what time is it? How much time is it I m following this animal? Why it did not escape totally at first and often stopped deliberately to follow it? He looked around and continued: why I didn’t attend before? Then he looked above at gazelle again. It had been stood like a statue immobile and was staring him. Its eyes were shining with a yellow ray and its body was like a stone without motion. Suddenly a heavy fear ran in his heart and quaked his body on that lonely area. He only could to say fearful: what is this. Then moved backward slowly and finally returned and ran away. He was running rapidly and Imagined is running toward the lake… his great wish was that reach to lake and then to his village. He felt a thing is followed him so he fearful increased his rate by all force.
