Spirits and Their Forms According to Indians

India is one of the many countries which has a majority of believers. More than half of the Indian mythology as well as the epics tell of the existence of ghosts. However it is also said that ghosts rarely appear in their own form and such spirits are usually tied to some other form of life. The spirits are classified into four groups namely – unhappy or vengeful spirits, spirits of the priests who couldn’t finish what they came for, spirits whose good and bad deeds were level and those who are happy and content. The last of these will not be considered since they only come back in the form of some animal or human. We are going to deal with the other three.

Unhappy or Vengeful Spirits

These are the destructive spirits. Ones who did not get or obtain what they wanted and are determined not to let others have it either.

Ghosts of the Wood Apple Tree

This story is one that is very famous among the old people of the place where this takes place. As the place is very famous I shall not mention any names.

The family of my maternal grandmother was a very rich and politically important one. Only princesses which remained in India were married to the sons of that family. One such princess was my maternal grandmother’s grandmother. She was not only from a royal family but also a very spiritual person. It is said that when she entered her place of worship (built specially for her), the bells use to ring by themselves. She could be seen talking to Krishna, the one she was devoted to. She would be immersed in her prayer so much so as she would even forget that she needed to eat and sleep. She was married into this family to the only son of a politician. The house was basically a fort with over a …

An Experiment Scene Reconstructed

March 2002 – Place  Pune, India.

Although I personally witnessed the below incident, I was not the driving force behind it. For me, it was always going to be more like an experiment and I  had already decided to be just a spectator with an open mind and that is exactly what I did. Let me share it.

Zoyanal was my senior colleague and friend in the amateur forum that we had formed sometime back to discuss the paranormal. His was a strongly opinionated personality and he paid little attention to what others had to say. He firmly believed that the smallest of the discussions or the conversations that occurred in the past always remain alive at certain level. They fade away only when the majority of the wandering souls that were part of those scene or discussions are reborn somewhere else. Since for each soul, the waiting period can be different, the scene can remain intact for few seconds …
