Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

The following story is completely true, every detail as I remembered it as a kid.

When I was 10 years old my grandfather Robert took me up to a cabin he was trying to sell. He had purchased the cabin when his wife was still alive, but after she passed away the memories according to him were simply too much.

Anyway, my grandfather takes me up to the cabin which he had not visited for 4 or so years. He was signing paperwork and calling people to try and show the property off. The cabin was in upstate New York. I was raised in Philadelphia but he needed something far away from the city to relax. The purpose of our visit was to clear everything out worth something to us.

The drive took forever, me naturally as a kid, I fell asleep for the greater portion of the ride. It was still daylight out but when we arrived it was just getting dark. I was wide awake at this point, being a kid.

We cleared the house out of as much stuff as we could fit in the back of his station wagon, and then we left. It took about 5 hours or so and I remember him being very sad while cleaning the house. While he was reminiscing I was playing with some old board games as well as playing cards, I was very bored.

After we gathered the items we hit the road. It was absolutely pitch black outside and the only light we had was the high beams on the road. I felt myself falling asleep but I didn’t want to because I didn’t want my grandfather to feel sleepy, so I stayed awake. We had the radio on. It was I’d say maybe 2 am around that time when in the distance we saw a dark figure jet across the road. It wasn’t walking, it glided as though it had wings.

Me and my grandfather both looked at each other. I was pretty scared at this point and I think my grandfather was too. After 3 or so minutes went by we saw a pig on the side of the road just trotting along. About another 3 minutes we see a pig in the middle of the road completely bled out, as though something had just got done eating it. I don’t know what it was to this day, but it wasn’t something I have seen in the news or heard of.
