Where to begin? It all began with my sister, Erin and her old friend Kelly. They used to play around with an Ouija board at Kelly’s house on their visits, and, she always came back and told me about what would happen when they used it.
When I was 10, we moved further north to Lake Stevens, a brand new house, just built on an old cleared lot. Erin and I had gone to see Kelly while dad did some other errands, and, sure enough, we took out the Ouija board. They began to ask questions about the place we had just moved into. From the information I had gathered from the session, there was a man named Jack, who had killed himself in that area, or perhaps even there where our house was built, some time earlier.
For a while I brushed it aside, until my sister began to see him, and I began to hear him. She told me there would be someone walking up the stairs, or in the house, in a purple sweater and white sweatpants. I did not believe her at first. Perhaps it was my now 11-year-old trying not to believe what I was hearing, or, perhaps I did not think she knew what I knew.
In that house, we had 2 flights of plain wooden stairs that led up from the garage to the entry, all indoors. I was the only person left in the house that dark morning, as I got ready for school. I was supposed to put the dog in the laundry room for the day, right next to the garage door, but I heard it ‘Thump… Thump… Thump’ as though someone was slowly walking up the inside steps to come up to the house. I really didn’t think much of it. I finished tying my shoe, “THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP!’ It sounded as though they just ran upstairs, I feared I could open up the door and be face to face with something I did not want to be. Needless to say, I was not going close enough to that door to put the dog away.
When I told my sister, she told me to look at the front steps around 5:30 and 6, that I will see the man who walks our front steps. I will see Jack. I could see him through the front entry stairs window So I did, and I did. His face was blurred, but, he wore the purple and white, I heard the footsteps, and I even thought it may have been my dad, but, nobody ever walked in.
A few weeks after that incident, my sister and I decided to take pictures around the house. Perhaps we can see if there is anything that would show up. We got a lot of vortexes, and some orbs, but that was about it, no full body apparitions, or anything. That was fine.
Sadly, that was not fine to whatever happened next. It was dark out, and I was in the living room waiting for my dad to finish showering so we could go pick up my sister. I was looking out through sliding glass door, watching the kitchen and entry and the entry stairs window reflecting off of the glass. As I was in thought, I suddenly saw the brightest Flash of light about a foot off of the counter, that was all it took for me to dart and land face first into the pile of clothes on the couch. I stayed that way until my dad came downstairs.
When I told my sister what happened, she asked if it could have been a car, as we were on a coul-de-sac, and the light could have been the headlights. No, the window, (hell, the whole house) sat up too high above the road to be headlights, besides, they did not sweep across, it was a bright flash. We both realized, that the camera had been sitting on the counter that night, and when we checked, the flash had gone out. Odd coincidence, but when we got the film from that roll developed, all of the pictures were black. No errors, that’s just how they came out.
We decided to stay out of Jack’s hair, and he would probably stay out of ours. We still heard up him come home at night, we heard him yell to or at us sometimes to do stuff (we would be home alone.) I am 23 now, my sister is 25, my dad and step-mom moved out of that house (though they claimed to have never known of his presence) what has become of Jack, we don’t know, perhaps he moved on, maybe he stayed there, that’s something we are not inclined to find out.
