Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

I have had many experiences with the paranormal, but I do not believe that they are spirits of the dead, although I couldn’t say what it is. This is a long story so bare with me as I try to explain it all. Most of them happened in my Nan and Granddads house and that is also where it first started happening to me.

The first one I remember clearly is getting woken up in the middle of the night to the sound of running in the room. I sat up and saw glowing feet running round the room but no legs or body. I watched them for a minute or so and then my Nan came into the room asking what all the noise was about which confirmed in my head that I wasn’t a dream. The next morning I woke up and I saw the top cupboard of the wardrobe being opened. It was one of them ones that has a door that gets lifted so gravity wasn’t the cause here.

After that there was a lot that went on. I would hear my name get called out all through the night, the quilt would get slowly pulled off me and I would feel like someone was sitting on the bed. One time I heard my sister shout me upstairs so I went up and seen her standing on the landing and she smiled and went into my Nan and Granddads bedroom so I followed her in only to find she wasn’t in there. I shouted her and she answered from another bedroom at the other end of the hall. There is no way she could have got there without going back past me.

The worst that happened in that house was one night I woke up and something didn’t feel right. The air felt strange, like something bad was there. I looked up and saw a shadowy figure standing at the bedroom door. As I stared it slowly started moving towards me so silently almost gliding. As it got closer it put its arm out towards me and I dived under my quilt crying terrified. After a couple of minutes I gathered the courage to look out but nothing was there. I don’t think I slept another night in that bedroom. The next day me and my cousin and sister decided to try and contact whatever it was by doing some sort of séance. When we asked ‘it’ to let us know it could hear us there was loads of banging round in the other bedroom so we went through but nothing was there. After that I would see dark shapes behind me in the mirrors that weren’t there when I turned round.

In the house we live in now I’ve only ever had a couple of mild encounters like feeling something crawling under the bed bumping on the underneath of it and a few times feeling like someone is sitting on me then seeing shapes climb off me and stand at the foot of the bed.

I’m a bit of a night owl so used to walk the dog very late at night down by a river. The track is lined with trees and I always used to find that by a certain tree I would here a growling kind of noise and breathing. I tried to convince myself it was just the wind or something so never mentioned to anyone till one night I went with my dad and out of the blue he told me that one night he got really freaked out because he thought he could hear the growling at the exact same tree as me. After that I always got a bit freaked out walking the dog and took a different path to avoid that tree. But then I stopped taking him at night altogether after this time which was my most terrifying experience.

As I was on the way back from walking the dog one night he suddenly stopped dead staring behind me growling slightly. I turned round and I could see a faint white mist. As I was looking trying to work out what it was it changed into the shape of a woman with a beautiful white dress. But her face was horrible like very sunken in and her eyes were black. I started backing away because I didn’t want to take my eyes off it the all of a sudden the dog bolted for home whining and the ‘woman’ started coming towards me quickly making a weird throaty sound. I turned then and ran faster than I’ve ever ran in my life back home. After that I never walked in the dark on my own ever again.

The most recent thing to happen was with my little boy. He was in his cot one night and I was downstairs alone with no one else in the house. I heard a lot of banging coming from his room and then he started crying so I went up and his cot had moved. I settled him and put the cot back then stood outside the bedroom to listen. I heard the banging round again then he started crying and I went in only to find the cot had moved further this time. I took him downstairs with me after that and let him sleep in his pram till I went to bed.

I’m not sure why these things have happened to me. Because they have happened in so many different places makes me think something must be following me. No one else n my family seems to have had anything like this really happen to them, and my Nan told me that whenever I would go and stay she would have terrible nightmares about her mother.
