Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

Here is a story about a woman who moved into a haunted house and the experiences she and her family had there.

A couple of years ago I moved into a new house with my mum, sister, niece and cat. I always heard little noises in the night and found myself to be afraid in the dark. I put it all down to paranoia.

After a couple of years a few times our stereo turned on by itself but I explained this to myself as possibly it had been stuck during a little skipping episode and just came unstuck. Our TV in the kitchen turned off a couple of times when I was in the kitchen but I also said to myself that the TV is probably just dying (which I still believe it was as we had to replace it recently). My sister (who doesn’t know this story) told me that she was walking down the hall and the wooden shutters flung open and nearly hit her (she said it was wind)

My cat is quite a lovely cat and wouldn’t hiss at me ever, I’m her mum (mom, I’m not American sorry) and helped her through kitten birth and everything. Anyway, I was sitting in my kitchen home alone (which I hate and I’m 23 years old) and I felt like there was something around me and as though I was having a conversation in my own head.

I laughed at myself and the stupidity of my thoughts and stood up to walk away. When I stood up I felt warm tingles run down the right side of my body from my head to my toes, at the same instant this happened my cat turned around and whilst looking to the right of me hissed. It was a fierce hiss I hadn’t seen before. At this point I was on the phone to my mother asking when she’ll be home.

Since then I ran into the girl that used to live in my house and without telling her what happened she said to me she believed it was haunted. She said her brother used to sleep with the fan on in the middle of winter and he told her it was because he heard talking. She said her things would be moved while she was gone and that her family hadn’t done it. She told me (still not sure if I believe her) that a friend of theirs that can sense spirits said there is a family of them there. I’ve done research through long standing neighbors and to my knowledge no one has died in the house.

I know my niece has a terrible time in the dark in the house and doesn’t like going to her own bed without music (she is 6 though). I’m still not sure what this was and if it was all in my head so I would like to hear what people have to say about this please.

Is it possible that they are good to some and bad to others? And if it really was a spirit that touched me and scared my cat why would that be? After my cat thing I spoke aloud to them and said “Its ok if you’re here but please never show yourself to me”. (I don’t want to see a ghost).. Do you think they/he/she/it heard me?
