My Grandmothers Spirit

Posted on October 24, 2009

It all start with an experience I had when I was 9. I saw the image of my great uncle that had passed from cancer a few years prior.

My brother and I were playing in my room doing rolls across the bed and when I stood up my dead uncle was standing in the door way. It was his image he was wearing his work clothes he owned an oil company so he had on his jump suit† with name tag on it which I might add I never saw him in when he was alive.† It was a ghostly image I could still see the wall behind him. I froze in fear he was standing in my doorway so I had no where to run. I turned to see if my brother was seeing what I was seeing but he was still playing on the other side of the room when I turned back he disappeared, I then ran to† my mother who didn’t believe me, she said I must have been thinking of him in the back of my mind which wasn’t true he had passed a couple of years before. I thought about what happened and I always wonder why I froze, he was a very nice man and would never hurt me but the fact that it was a ghost I just saw was the shocking.

This is the part were my grandmother comes in. It was her brother. One day when I was visiting her she told me about an experience she had a couple of nights before she told me she was up getting a glass of water and she heard someone call her name so she look to her right were it was coming from and she saw her dead brother standing in her doorway as she walked towards him he back up and walk to the other doorway going to the living room and disappeared. She said she knew it was him and wasn’t scared.

I then shared what had happen to me many years before in my room. This discuss lead us to† make a promise to each other that who ever died first would come back and let the other person know they were okay and to prove we can still communicate after death.†

My grandmother passed five years later and she kept her promise. It was a week after her death, I was sleeping in my bed and she woke me up with a kiss on the cheek. When I felt the kiss I opened my eyes and I saw her standing next to my bed, I tried to get up and she put her hand on my shoulder as if to say don’t get up but of course when she started to walk away towards the windows I then got out of bed to follow her but she disappeared and the next thing I heard was my husband asking me what I was doing at the window. She gave me what I need because I know now that she is okay and she is still connected with me and she is still keeping her promises. I still speak to her and think of her everyday. I haven’t seen her since that night but I guess there is no need to she gave me what I asked for.

To all the people that have lost someone they love dearly I know they seem so far but they are still around us and we will be with them one day again.

    Hi Manik,

I apoligize. I did not mean to upset you by making my statement about your story. When you said that you and your grandmother made promises to each other, and she kept her promise by coming back to you after her passing to let you know that she is okay, I just merely thought that it was beautiful that your grandmother was able to keep her promise to you. You didn’t share the other things that you mentioned in your two comments in your story. That was terrible what your uncle did to your family and what your family went through because of it. I hope that both you and your family are doing well now.

    Hi Manik,

OOPS…my mistake!! I think that I need some new glasses…LOL! Anyway, that was an interesting story that you wrote in your comments. Thank you for sharing. Again, I’m so sorry that your uncle did what he did to you and your family and what happened to your grandmother. I don’t blame you for not wanting to see his face again. Also, I’m glad that you feeling better. You take care of yourself and get plenty of rest and, as Trolldoll says, drink alot of fluids.

Everyone have a great rest of the weekend and a wonderful week next week.

Amie, thank you again, for sharing your nice story.

And I want to tell one thing guys the things which i had told IS NOT A STORY!:-C It is real the things which i have told about my grand motherís death are ABSOLUTELY REAL IN THE NAME OF GOD!!!!! Sorry!!! If you donít believe me i will still love you guys coz its a characteristic feature of internet telling unbelievable things!! Thats why i said ďthanks for your sharing of your experienceĒ i didnít mention it as a story no one tells lies about their family if they did then its them who donít care about their family so i care about my family thats why i told the truth but you all stated it as only a story not seeing the real feelings of an individual person. Sorry again guys if i was furious and if i had made even a little pain or hesitation in your hearts i just canít stand [email protected][email protected]!

  9. Bonnie says:

    Hi Manik,

You have nothing to be sorry about, Sweetie. You said nothing wrong, nor did you hurt my feelings. I don’t know you personally, and have never met you, but, I can tell that you are a very nice, kind and caring person, as is everyone else on the this website. We all have alot of fun reading each other’s stories and commenting. I’m so glad that I came across this website and all my new web friends.

Manik, you and your family have a great rest of the weekend. I’m so glad that you’re feeling better. The flu is going through here in the Keys. In fact, this is Goom Bay this weekend, which is a festival that is celebrated in Key West, the week before Fantasy Fest which is the Key West version of the Mardi Gras. My husband and I went to Goom Bay yesterday and had a great time. And then, we came home and read that President Obama had declared an emergency on the swine flu to get the medications out to everyone alot faster. So far, we have not received our flu or swine flu shots. My husband was a little worried about us being out in the crowds yesterday, after reading what President Obama had to say. I told him that I’m sure that we will be alright.

Again Manik, no worries. You’re a sweetie!

  10. Bonnie says:

You’re absolutely right, Manik. What people on this website write about are not stories, but, experiences. I just have a habit of saying “story”. It’s very interesting to read everyone’s experiences. And, it’s nice that people can come to this website and share their experiences with others who understand where they’re coming from.

Not everyone is so open minded in this big world.

I believe what you said, when you shared your experiences in your previous comments. I know that it hurt you so much when your grandparents died. Bless your heart. And, I know that you miss them a great deal. Also, I’m so sorry that your mom left you, especially during a time when you needed her the most. I can understand about your grandparents being your guardian angels. My mom and dad are my guardian angels as well. My husband’s grandparents, Maa Maa and Pa Pa, have both passed on as well, and I consider them Guardian Angels. My husband took their passings so hard, when they had both died. To this day, I can tell that it still hurts him inside. I was very fortuante enough to have been able to meet his Maa Maa and Pa Pa before they passed on. They were so kind to me and treated me with so much respect. I will always remember them and love them. In fact, when my husband was in the Navy and was went out to sea with the carriers, especially this last one that he was on, I always prayed to the Good Lord and to his grandparents to protect him and bring him home safely to me.

Manik, you take care my friend.

What a lovely story. I sometimes wish I would see my mother. She passed a little over a year ago and I miss her terribly. After my father died, she and I became extremely close, and losing her was really hard. I’m glad your Grandma could let you know she is ok and that she is watching over you.
