Here Comes My Father

Posted on April 14, 2010

This is a true encounter of a man during my younger age. As far as I can remember my age at the time is between 8 or 9 years old. My mother owned a small convenience store and I was outside playing. It was about 5 pm or 6 pm, there are few drops of rain but can’t even make me wet. Just a few drops of it. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters and they were all inside our house watching television. I don’t know what comes my mind why I go out of the house and play alone just in-front of our convenience store. My mother asked me to come back inside the house and told me to instead watched television together with my brothers and sisters.

I told my mother I don’t want to go inside because I am waiting for my father. My father is very loving to his children. Everyday after work and before he comes back home, he always have a present for all of us like a candy or chocolates or anything that can make our tiny mouth happy.

While I was outside playing alone under this few drops of rain, I noticed why there seems no one is outside except me. My playmates were not even there, no one is walking outside. The streets is so clean and you can’t really see a single people walking.

My mother called my name for the second time. This time she is angry at me but I insist, “No, I am waiting for my father”. My mother was surprised and I saw her about to come out of our store. As I remember she is telling me something about my father but there is one customer that is waiting to be served inside our convenience store. This customer is a friend of my mother and owned a credit to her store. They have few chat and my mother forgot me in a while, I took this opportunity to continue my playing outside. The two seems enjoying their chat and it is a good thing for me, I told myself.

While waiting outside, I don’t know why it seems something pull my face up. There I saw my father coming. I run and hold his hands and we started to walk to our store. The man stopped walking when we are in-front of our store. I talked to this man whom I called “father”. “Where is your present for me father?”, I said to him. He gave me one candy, I ate it. Then I grabbed his hands and kissed it. In my country, kissing the hands of old people is a sign of big respect. We called this gesture, “mano”.

Then I look at him, with my face all up to him. His face is so dark, outside is started to get dark but there is still this few drops of rain. The man is not smiling at me, just looking. He made an eye to eye contact at me.

The man caress my hair just as how my father caress our head and hair when he is showing love for all of us, his children. He touched my chin and pull my face up to look to his face then he turned his back on me and walked away. I was surprised and can’t move. Tears started to fell because he just walked away from me without any word.

My mother saw me crying and this time she asked me to come inside our house in a sweet voice. I told my mother I want to follow my father because he will go somewhere in our place. I told my mother that my father already arrived but he did not even say “Hi” to my mother.

My mother was shocked and can’t even open her mouth. When she came back her senses she told me to go inside our house in a kitchen. This time I followed my mother and to my surprised, my father was there cooking our meal. This is one of his habit that if he comes back home early, he is helping my mother prepare our dinner.

When my father saw me, he told me to get my candy in the drawer. He said he kept it from my brothers and sisters and he let me taste the food that he cooked. Before I get my candy from the drawer, I run outside to see who the man that gave me candy. I looked back and saw this image that continuously walking slowly under the few drops of rain. He is walking but seems fading. Before he completely fades I noticed something different. This man is taller than my father, too slim than my father, with a face that I could not almost see and dark facial feature. But during the time, I only have one thing in my mind, “he is my father and I waited for him outside so I can get his present first before my brothers and sisters.

When I can no longer see the image, I felt something strange happened to me. I went back inside our house and go to the drawer were my father kept my candy. It was the same candy that I get from the man outside. I went to the kitchen and kiss my father to his hands with a big warm hugs. I kissed him in the cheeks as if I don’t want to loose him forever.

My father died at the age of 67 and I am thankful to God for giving us such a wonderful man to provide us in our needs. A man that sends us to school without any complain if we sometimes get a low grades, but instead God has given us a man that is willing to sacrifice all what he have.

The experience I have during my childhood days has taught me not to be scared of any paranormal activity and instead it gave me a feeling of knowing and understanding things that is out of this world.

Can anybody share me something about this experience because until now my experience puzzled me. I don’t know who is the man in-front of me and what he wants from me. He did not harmed me but instead he gave me a gesture same as my father does.
