True Ghost Tales

This began almost 3 years back when I and my friend visited their family house in a remote village in southern India. It was a big house and had a back yard had a barn, a dog/cattle-shed, a small well and some 2500sq feet of open space. But there was something strange about it.

His grandfather would lock up the only gate to the backyard as the sun went down and will now open or allow anyone else to enter the backyard before the sun was well up. And we were all curious about this mystery as everything else; as this was the first time ever we had ever been to a village. So, we decided to dedicate our summer vacations to solve this out.

After much anticipation we were able to gather that there had been small battles and fights in olden times and that a couple of people were hacked to pieces and buried in the backyard without any proper rites some 90 years back and since then their spirits have been haunting the place.

So one Saturday evening we decided to set up a watch at the backyard from our window which offered a full view of it. We had a torch and had our air guns ready in case we saw any movement we would have fired at it to judge whether it was really a ghost. And I must admit that we were not only too enthusiastic but were foolish enough too; to mess with something which was beyond human.

About 0230hrs we noticed someone near the well and it seemed as if it was wearing a sack. We waited it to come out of the shade of the black plum tree so that we could focus our torch and if possible; take a shot too. But when it crossed the yard and moved to the barn we were able to take a good look under the moon light; and it seemed someone moving without a head, and both of us were out of our wits.

We fired our air guns at it and then without thinking ran out of our room to the court yard in the house, where my friend’s grand father were sleeping, and both of us almost fainted when we saw the same figure on the terrace just above his cot. It was there just for a moment and the next it was gone.

By the time his grandfather had already got up after he heard us slamming the door of our room and running in the gallery and he had some idea of what might have happened even before listening to us, after which he asked us to prey and go to bed.

Next morning we went to the backyard and found two tiny holes in the muddy floor of the backyard, we tried to recover the lead shots but there were not any; and no one might have removed then as the holes made by them were intact. In the afternoon we were sent back to our homes in the city, and still we see the same figure sometimes when we look out of our windows at night.

Now this thing can not be false as both of us see it and then something goes wrong the very next day when we see that figure and another interesting thing is that, we both see the figure at exactly the same time; no matter how far away we are from each other.
