Haunting Dream of a Murderer

Posted on August 29, 2009

Before I tell of my experience, I would like to say I do not claim in any way, shape or form to be psychic. Though some people believe we all have psychic abilities-if I do, I am very much unaware of them. Except for once! I have never before, or after the psychic dream, had anything remotely similar happen.

Location: Kelowna, BC Late 1980′s

My best friend, Laura, was on lunch break (she was a social worker and worked for a Women’s Shelter in Kelowna). She picked me up and we were sitting outside of Subway in her Pinto getting ready to enjoy our lunch. The radio was on, and a story came on that told of a recent find of a partial skeleton-male, between the ages of 14 – 18 they believed. Some bones were missing, probably carried off by animals. His bones were found on Knox Mountain, located in Kelowna, an area that I had never visited.

A lot of us become desensitized to the news, but this story bothered me for some reason. I couldn’t eat, I felt nauseous and this weight of sadness overwhelmed me. This lousy feeling followed me all afternoon. Generally my life was great, especially around this time. I was in an all female metal band and life was just rockin’. That night I played the drums for a bit, then crashed for the night. At around 8:30 am I awoke with a scream, jumped out of bed and stood shaking for a few minutes. I had had what I thought at the time, a harsh nightmare. I dreamed that the boy found on Knox Mountain was murdered by a local schoolteacher that he knew. I dreamed what he looked like, but what was most fascinating was that his address (street name and number) flashed in my dream-almost continually. I saw what his house looked like and a white rose trestle was parked at the front of a walkway. The part that frightened me was that I went to his house(to do my own investigating), and when he came to the door, I saw in his eyes that he knew that I knew what he’d done and he stepped towards me. I started running across peoples lawns-I knew he was going to kill me. I ran and ran and when he was nearly upon me and his hand reached out to grab me I woke up. I was terrified!

I told Laura and immediately she suggested I call the police. Although I always believed in a higher power, Laura was very religious and believed that God may have given me that information in my dream to help this unidentified person in some way. My thinking was they’d think they were talking to a crackpot. So, I didn’t call the police immediately. Instead, we got a city map and looked to see where the street was located that flashed so much in my dream. We both were a bit freaked out when we saw it was near the bottom of Knox Mountain. I had to plead with her to take me up to Knox Mountain. I wanted to see if we could find the house from my dream, and to go up the mountain to see where the skeletal remains were found.

We went up the mountain, parked and began walking around. We saw some yellow crime scene tape, and not much else, We just walked the area for another 15 minutes or so until I stumbled across a long bone. I remembered that there were some missing bones. I took off my jacket and wrapped it around the bone. We traveled down and turned onto the street we were looking for. We drove slowly looking for house numbers. I looked up ahead and I didn’t need to see the house number – I saw the exact house in my dream, white rose trestle in front of the walkway and all. I was really freaked out now – I couldn’t believe this was becoming real. Scared wasn’t the word for it.

Laura protested when I said I was going to go knock on the door.As frightened as I was, I had to know if it would be the same face my dream showed me. With legs like jelly I managed to get to the front door. I would ask for someone else if he answered pretending I had the wrong address.I knocked, and it wasn’t long before the door opened – and there stood the man-the murderer. I stammered something, and returned to the vehicle. I had described him to Laura to a tee earlier, and she could see him from the car. As we left, we drove in astonished silence most of the way home.We were both pretty shook up.

I called the police the minute we got in. They sent someone to pick up the bone, and hear my dream. I wasn’t shocked to hear they were already investigating this man-a highschool teacher, who had been caught previously of luring young boys up to Knox Mountain for his sick pleasure. Though he had never killed anyone that they knew of.

I wish I could say my dream helped solve the case. It didn’t. He was never charged-I don’t have any doubt he is a murderer, the remains were still not claimed even a decade later the last time I inquired. The bone I found was from an animal. It breaks my heart that this young kid was never claimed-especially since I have a son now-probably in the same age range as that boy was. That has always bothered me. I don’t know why I had a dream that came true, especially when nothing positive came out of it. I often wonder if I may have crossed paths with this kid when he was alive.

I will never understand the ‘why’ of it and never want another experience like that again. Would love to know if any of you have had a similar experience!

Omigosh this is so sad! Part of me thinks that you heard the story, and maybe this boy’s spirit picked up on how it affected you, and attached himself to you to help you find him and his murdered. Unfortunately, the police and stuff have so much going on I doubt they get around to solving this anytime soon… but i hope they do.. I hope you find peace as well….

  2. Silverwolf says:

You definately have an gift, if you want to further explore that ability, I would suggest reading an couple books like James Van Praagh’s “Heaven and Earth” , and research ‘psychic detectives’, I know I’m psychic/empath and often can pick out details and such regarding murders etc. I’ve even helped solve atleast 3 murders and missing peoples things. And called out details to things before they’re anounced on the news for others with about an 90% accuracy rate.

  3. trolldoll1681 says:

wow! i’m sure that was a hairraising experience for you. for what ever reason, you were picked out. its too bad the guy wasn’t caught, maybe he will screw up again and get charged with the murder. thanks for a enlightning story!!

  4. XXXNightOverDayXXX says:

Very intresting story! I feel really bad for the kid and angrey for the man that never got charged. Based on your dream I would agree that the man was the killer. I can’t stop thinking of the innocent soul and hope he’s somewhere better. Take care.

  5. Pat says:

OMG! Scary! You are SO brave for going up on the mountains and after seeing the same house in your dream you actually went to the door and came face to face with a murderer! You are not only psychic but have nerves of steele! It is unfathomable to think that no-one has come to claim the remains of this young man… I just wonder if he wasn’t brought from a far distance and buried on the mountain. I am sure his spirit is in a better place. Thanks for sharing….

Thanks to all who have responded-most appreciated!

Pat-thats what bothers me the most-someone, somewhere must have loved him.Just sad! Haha-I’m not that brave-just incredibly curious:)

Silverwolf-thanks for the info. I think people who do what you do are amazing. I would not want that ability-but at least could handle it if, in fact, it helped someone. Unfortunately, I couldn’t,

  7. TammyMom says:

I’ve had many dreams during my life which came true, but none of them were pertaining to anything important that would have helped anyone in any way. They were just things that I dreamed that ended up happening to me later.

    • Krysta says:

Haha i know what you mean. When i was younger, in middle school, i had dreams ALL THE TIME that would later happen. Alot of weird stuff was going on at the time, i was being stupid with seances and such, but none of them really ever ment anything. They were all just random things that would happen later. It still happens every once in a while, but not even close to as much as it used to.

    Dear Kim,
Thank you for sharing your experience.

    What an experience!

Who is to say why the boy chose you to know what happened to him?
Maybe he was a musican, too. Or would have liked to be one.
Was his “killer” a music teacher?
What amazes me is that no one has filed a missing persons report on this young man.
It is possible he was a run-away from another area; I am sure the RCMP has investigated this possibility.
I wonder what would happen if you were to visit the unknown boys grave site.
Would he communicate with you again?
Thank you for sharing your story, I, too, have had “dreams” that have come true.
Not always easy to live with.

  9. KNOWTOMUCH says:

Wow Kim,,,, i just dont know what to say…I have had many nightmares, the worst one being…. 1 week before my daughter was murdered, i had a dream that i was packing up her bedroom, and would never see her again. In the dream i was crying, and i was also crying when i woke up……. i will post the story one day soon.. just trying to get up the nerve… its hard to talk about….. take care,,,,, ktm

I have had a prophetis dream. When i was younger. I had a dream that my mother took me to little river canyon to see the water fall. And when we got there in my dream, there was a man and a child who had jumped from the top. Both killed. The next day my mother told me that we were supposed to go, but i protested aginst it upon my dream i had had previously.
She did not believe me, but we decided not to go. The next day two people were reported dead from here, a man and a child.

  13. lainee says:

found this – thought it might mean something…

On 22nd September, 1987, human remains were found on Knox Mountain. The remains were not identified as Geoffrey DOWDING?s until 2002. Investigation revealed that DOWDING was last seen in Kelowna in 1986.

This kid sounds like he could be the one your dream was about.
    (found it here: http://www.castanet.net/KelownaColdCases/ )

Oh almost forgot.. If you go down the page on the link he is the 13th extract down.

There is a small picture of Geoffrey Dowding

Perhaps it may be good for you to put a face to this unknown person

  14. YVashche says:

When I read this story, I too did a little investigating and indeed when I went to the link that is posted above and scanned through the pictures, one of them “spoke” to me. I believe the bones are those of Dowding and he was a runaway so maybe that is why he was not reported missing. There is another site that says that he was seen in the company of two men but there was never anything concrete. At least we might know who he was, as there was not any other remains found on the mountain in this time period.

  15. Rebeakh B says:

well, many people have dreams that later come true in life. Not many get the oppertunity to experience something so grand as that. I think that what happened to you was a gift. The abilty to see the truth in people for what they have done and show their true colors is amazing. i think that you should be grateful for that wonderful gift you have/had.

  16. nicole says:

Or maybe it’s a warning…. be cautious and be in tune with your surroundings to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself in your life.

  17. vanessa pacheco says:

    o0h wo0w i feel bad for you even if i dont know you…………………..o0h woo0w

  18. Jenny says:

you’re so brave going to that evil b*stard’s house. its just a shame the police don’t take things like this seriously.

  19. kim says:

    Thank you everyone.

Lainee-wow-thank you!!! I just saw his picture-let me tell you I had shivers up and down my spine, before I went to look at him.
I dont recall ever meeting him-but it is an amazing feeling to finally have a face and name and to know he has been identified. .
    Thank you so much!!!

  20. Zach says:

You say you never have had anything else like this happen to you, so maybe do you think the boy chose you for some reason and told you in your dream? Maybe you somehow had been connected to him somewhere else? It’s a small idea, but a common belief among people for spirits.

  21. ZoZo says:

“Scary” is not the word for this. You DO have a special ability. And you should find someone to help you reach deeper into this. Now as for the mistakes, it’s common. I have had dreams like this also, of a kid being drug across the highway and ran over accidentally. And the next day it happened. But I dunno why it was in my dream. The paranormal is strange. And they have their unique ways to contact us don’t they? Much love, <3

  22. Anonymous says:

  23. anna says:

you know what you were brave and crazy at the same time.you could of gotten hurt.im just glad nothin happened.i hope they do find the remains of the boy,so the parents can lay him to rest.at lest you did what you could.thats all it matters.thanks for the story.

  24. caseyy says:

I’m a 17 year old girl and I have too many dreams that come true. There have been 4 people in my family that i was extreamly close to that have died. With all 4 of them, the day before they died I dreamed they were gone. I also have dreams about random little things that come true as well. I think humans use something like 10 % of our brain, but some are able to use more, such as you and me and many others as well. I honestly know what you went through with that dream! It’s hard to have a dream like that and then to have it come true is something even harder. Though I do wonder why this has only happened to you once. As if the missing boy knew you somehow or was touched by you somehow. I’m sure no one knows why you had this dream, but you had it for a reason!

  25. arlyn says:

It’s a sad story especially for the boy whose life was taken away from him. May he rest in peace.

  26. big barney says:

wow..thats crazy….how did he never get charged???not enough evidence?

  27. marlene says:

I think you have a gift that lets you see in to a person soul GOODor BAD .

  28. Sarah Bomer Salvatore says:

omg!! that really creep me out and i am alone in my house rite now.. tq for making me having imsonia..

  29. Dylan says:

Wow it reminds me of the mentalist :) , does anyone know how to harness your abilities? I believe that i can predict a small bit of someone’s future and I can sort of stop a clock from working..I just one to know if its possible to harness the power of time.
