It all started when I was 3 years old and my parents bought an old house occupied by a couple who loved children but were unable to have any of their own. The house always made my skin crawl from the time we moved in until we moved out, which I think was around seventeen years. Closet doors would open, shadows would race across the living room, electricity would flicker through the lights and the television would turn off and I am talking about the old wooden floor models with the push and pull knobs.
Believe it or not I grew used to the antics and could most of the time fall asleep even when there was a compression on the end of my bed late at night. You never felt like you were alone. Sometimes though it would go too far and I was scared to death.
One night my boyfriend, who had moved in at the time because of circumstances surrounding his family life, had chosen to stay up late watching TV. I was beat and wanted to go to bed so I gave him a kiss and off I went. I crawled into bed and fell asleep fast. As the night went on I reached under my pillow to see if he had made it to bed yet. (I would always stick my hand under his pillow and feel his hand to comfort myself). I reached under his pillow and wrapped my hand around his… or so I thought. I opened my eyes to confirm he was there. I looked over at his side of the bed and there was no one there. EMPTY! But I still had my hand around his… so I ripped my hand from under the pillow and threw his pillow off the bed. There was nothing, absolutely nothing on his side of the bed. I was terrified so I jumped out of bed fleeing my bedroom in the early morning hours and stayed with him downstairs until he was ready to go to bed.
I explained what jolted me out of bed but he was not experiencing anything… yet. He did however believe and as time wore on he started to experience the doors and lights. The house has new owners now and I am sure they must have experienced something because they were very active spirits when we were living there.
