Encyclopedia Of Haunted Places

Ghostly Locales From Around The World

Here is another really good reference book for those who are interested in the paranormal. This book is a directory of well known purportedly haunted places all around the world. The table of contents divides each area of the globe into sections and the index lists all the haunted locations in alphabetical order so it is very easy to find information about a particular area or a specific place.

Stephen Wagner of paranormal.about.com says The Encyclopedia Of Haunted Places: Ghostly Locales From Around The World is “an excellent reference work for any ghost enthusiast’s bookshelf.”

The copy I have is the revised edition which has been updated to include dozens more haunted places as well as some new information on the locales that were already in the previous edition.

Also worthy of note is a new section that deals with what to look for in a paranormal investigator and a regional directory of paranormal investigators with contact information.

Encyclopedia Of Haunted Places

The Encyclopedia Of Haunted Places: Ghostly Locales From Around The Worldis a veritable compendium which was actually written by a large collection of paranormal investigators

Excerpt from the Introduction of Encyclopedia Of Haunted Places: Ghostly Locales From Around The World

“Ghosts are everywhere. Every town has its haunted buildings, houses, and cemeteries. Locals whisper about these places and school children hurry past when walking by.

Ghost legends are powerful – they’re one of the few events today that still survive mainly by oral tradition. The tales of ghost encounters are retold, and soon certain locations get a “haunted” reputation.”

From Amazon.com:

“For years, paranormal investigative groups have been studying their local ghosts with scientific equipment as well as with more esoteric methods, such as psychics and sťances….

From across the United States, Canada, and many spots around the globe, ghost investigators tell of their sometimes harrowing experiences, share their research, and give readers an overview of both well-known and obscure haunted locales.

From private residences to inns and restaurants, battlefields to museums and libraries, graveyards to churches, The Encyclopedia of Haunted Places will offer supernatural tourists a guide to points of interest through the eyes of the ghost hunters.”

The Encyclopedia Of Haunted Places: Ghostly Locales From Around The World is available from New Page Books or wherever books are sold.

The book isnt really meant to be scary, it is a reference book that gives information both historical and anecdotal about famous haunted places.
