Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

This story is near about 40 years old, told to me by my mother. This incident happened when she was 14. Her school was at walking distance from home. It took her 20 minutes to return home from school. Once there was annual function at her school. While returning home it got dark but as she knew the path very well therefore it was not a problem. But that day she felt as if some unusual thing was happening with her, as she felt she was walking for more than an hour. Then suddenly she felt as if somebody was walking towards her. Being tired she sat down on a stone and started staring towards the direction from where she was getting the footsteps. After sometime she found a figure resembling like a woman heading towards her.

The figure was of an old lady with a hunchback. The figure was at a distance when suddenly my mother lost that figure from her vicinity. Then suddenly she found that figure in front of her. The lady asked my mother “who are you and why are you sitting here?” Her question was very obvious as my mother was at a place where there was no house only cultivation fields and forest at other side. My mother told her that she had lost the path towards home. Listening to her the lady asked my mother to follow her. The ladies face was not visible as she was wearing sari and her face was covered with it.

My mother started following her with the surety that this lady will definitely lead her towards the correct way. It was now dark and the place was getting creepy. My mother got scared, so she insisted the lady to walk fast. The lady heard her and started walking fast. She walked so fast that my mother couldn’t follow her therefore she started running after the lady. The distance between them was huge so my mother shouted to stop the lady. She saw the lady turned and started walking towards her. My mother got surprised as she saw that the lady was not walking but it seemed she was flying. She stopped near my mother. This time my mother got scared because she understood what she was seeing was not usual. The lady said “I didn’t see that you are left behind, and how can I see after all I am blind.” She said so and gave a scary laugh. Saying this she removed her sari from her face and showed her horrifying face. She had a flat face with no particular features and at the place of her eyes there were only white patches visible. My mother got scared and started running. While running she turned back but the lady was not there. My mother collapsed and fell down.

When she woke up she found herself at home. She was feeling week. My grandfather told her that when she was not returning back home everybody at home got tensed and went out searching her. They found her in the deep forest where no one generally dares to go during the night time. She tried to recollect and told them what had happened the evening before to her.

When people at our neighbor came to know about it they confirmed that this incident has happened to many people who lost their path during crossing that particular area. My grandparents got scared due to this and thanked god that their daughter was not harmed.
