Overactive Imagination?

Posted on January 1, 2010

When I was about 3 years old, my granny died. I never really felt upset because I think I was too young to realize what had happened. And up until I was 6 or 7 every once in a while I would have a nightmare about her.

When I was 7 years old I had something strange occur which I’m trying to just chalk up to being half asleep but I’m not so sure if that’s the case. I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. From my bedroom door you would have to follow a hallway to the bathroom and to your left there was a landing and a staircase that lead downstairs. When I walked by I glanced over the landing and I saw a white figure standing there. I couldn’t make out any facial features but I could tell the figure was wearing glasses. The same big round glasses as my father, my sister, and my deceased granny.

But of course at the time I never thought it could have been my granny so I kept asking my father if that was him and what he was doing. I thought maybe he was going to work early but I still got no response. Then I called my sister’s name but the figure just stood there staring at me. I pinched myself a couple of times and rubbed my eyes because I thought maybe I was dreaming or maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me, but still the figure was there. I reached over the banister to touch the figure to see if there was anyone even there and I touched nothing. It was too long ago to remember if the air was any cooler there but I figured because I hadn’t touched anything, nobody was there, and I went to the bathroom. When I came back out, the figure wasn’t there.

The next day I asked my sister if she was going downstairs last night and I explained what had happened and right away she assumed it was the ghost of my granny. My mother thinks I was just tired and seeing things and maybe I was, but what if that really was the ghost of my granny?
