I’ve never been close to my mother’s side of the family, except for her brothers and sister. This story is about my favorite uncle.

My uncle and I were very close for as long as I could remember. It was creepy sometimes because I was just a child and we would sometimes finish each other’s sentences and somehow know what we were thinking a lot.

When I was 11 years old, I had a horrible dream that he died. I’m not going to get into detail because its kinda gross. But all I can say is that my dream scared the toosh out of me. And three days later, my mom told me that he had passed away. I started asking questions about how he died and how they found him. I was in complete shock and had chills when she described it. It was the exact way I saw him in my dream to a T! So of course I cried because he was my favorite uncle and I love him so much but I didn’t mention my dream cause I was too freaked out.

We went through the whole process of going to his wake and his burial, three days later. And during that whole process, I felt a strong presence next to me and watching me. But the night his burial took place must have been the scariest thing that I have ever experienced in my 23 years of life.

I was laying down straight on my bed, half asleep. I was so exhausted from crying a lot so I was a bit disoriented. I started feeling something on my feet. I paid no mind to it at first until something grabbed me by my ankles. I lifted my head up so fast that I started keeling a little dizzy but I looked and I saw a man’s arms and shoulders with smudged dirt all over. He was holding onto my ankles tight and pulling himself up on the bed. I was too scared to even scream. I covered my mouth and started crying but I couldn’t keep my eyes off of him. At first I couldn’t see his face cause his head was down as he started coming up more but I realized I was looking at my dead uncle when I saw his Miami Dolphin’s pin (football), that he was buried with, on his white tuxedo. He finally looked up at me and all I saw before I closed my eyes tight, was his long hair out of place, his eyes rolled back still and dirt on his face. After I closed my eyes, the last thing I remember was whispering to please go away. I don’t know if it was real or if I was dreaming the whole time.

But the next morning, when I got up, my ankles were red and killing me! But I didn’t see any dirt on the edge of my bed or dirt. I still think about it from time to time and it still gives me the creeps. But I miss him so much and I love him.
