Ghost in the Texas Woods

Posted on December 31, 2010

My house is in Texas, we live next to some woods and on the other side of the woods is a pasture for cows it is many acres. I love walking in the woods. I can just let my mind go as I walk. Its like I go in a daze.

Well anyway one day I was walking with my dog. She was running around sniffing around at the smells that dogs like and I was walking along when I guess I went into a daze. When I felt my dog bumping against my leg.

The hair on her back was sticking up and she was growling! She kept looking around like she was trying to find what upset her. I suddenly noticed how quiet it was. There were no birds or squirrels it was just hushed! I was looking around when I heard a horse snort behind me!

I turned around as the dog did too and there was nothing there! I walked around in a circle trying to find the horse but couldn’t! So I started back to the house real fast! I haven’t went back cause I want someone to go with me! Maybe since its winter I’ll find someone.

Also, out there when my sons were younger we would go rabbit hunting. We heard a bell like you put on a cat! We walked looking for it when we saw the fence moving back and forth the bottom wire like something was caught on it. But we looked and couldn’t see anything there! My boys got scared and we came home they don’t like going out there in those woods!

if i was you i wouldn’t go back in the woods no more. there is something in there and you want it to stay in the woods and not move in your house don’t keep going around it. you take care of your family and don’t go looking for things that don’t need to be found. take care

my advise is leave whatever it is in the woods alone you don’t know it it could harm you or your family

The woods in Texas are no joke.

I went running alone one morning on a mile long road that weaves through a light wooded area in a small town of Texas.

I didn’t think anything scary about it because it was our (my family and I) first month of settling into a rural setting. It was a peaceful get-away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We recently got a cute little terrier and she always joins me and my little cousin on our outdoor adventures.

I woke up one morning with a desire to run. I had the summer on my mind and I wanted to get fit for the beach. After warming up and stretching, I had difficulty getting the puppy to join me for the run. For some odd reason she would not follow me down the road past the stop sign. She got stubborn and sat still the whole time I was calling her name. I got upset and decided to leave her at home. I should have listened to her instincts because any other day, she would have came to the woods with us without any trouble.

After half a mile down the road, past the 30feet tree trunk that blocks any vehicle from making it to the end, I noticed fresh dripping water marks on the pavement. The only car that can drive around the dead tree is a loud and noisy 4X4 pick up truck. I did not hear any gas guzzlers drive down that road since we live in a neighborhood at the beginning of the woods. About an acre of land is cleared out just for our subdivision so it’s not scary next to the highway.

When I suddenly stopped running, I panicked just observing the dripping water. I don’t know what was out there in the woods, but to my left, I heard a snap and some rustling leaves behind the steel fence. There was nothing there when I looked. I got scared and ran all the way home, following the trail of dripping water as I ran back. I followed the trail until it stopped at a gate door to the opposite side of the road. I would have heard a truck or car when I was running, but the woods were dead quiet. Not a single animal cried, not even a bird. On that same acre of land, there is an abandoned cabin.

Now I know why the neighbors stay in when the sun goes down. There something out there in the woods and nobody will buy the land that is for sale out there.

I got bored and made a map of the scenery if anybody wants to check it out.

it’s not great, I had to manage with Paint. LOL
