My Grandma Saved My Life

Ever since I was 8 years old I have had this feeling of having encounters with the dead. When we lived in our old house I used to have an imaginary friend that my parents said I always spoke to. Though I cannot remember her name, I do remember one instance. I had been sitting in my parents room watching a movie and I offered my imaginary friend to sit on the bean bag chair that I had brought into the room. I have always been told that I was a very OCD, tidy child, and I remember making sure that the bean bag chair was completely flat and smooth, as everything had to be back then. I remember turning towards the movie after I had offered for her to sit down, and hearing a sound, looking at the bean bag chair, there was an indent as though someone was sitting down. My parents stated that I often spoke to …

Spirits Don’t Like Change

We’ve lived in the house we’re in for almost ten years and nothing ever happened until about three years ago. The soil our house was built on was destroying the foundation so the entire basement was totally demolished (literally, our upper level was raised up on rail road ties!) and rebuilt. I’d always lived on the upper level until we rebuilt the basement. I was in sixth grade when I moved my room downstairs.

The first time anything happened to me my older sister had come over to babysit. Ironically enough, we had been watching Ghost Hunters right before I went to bed which made me wait to tell anyone about what happened for a while fearing they’d chalk it up to me being freaked out by the show. I’d only been in bed for about five minutes when I heard a man’s voice right behind me say “Tojo.” I thought maybe my dad was home so I rolled over …

Do Ghosts Really Exist?

During August 1981 my wife and I were driving back to the UK through France after I had completed a work assignment in Spain. On the journey between Alencon and Rouen, the precise location of which I do not know other than it was closer to Rouen than Alencon. We were travelling along a very straight stretch of road that was lined with tall planes on either side; I had the feeling that something was telling me that I should take a break from driving. I pulled off onto the grass at the side of the road. We had a bite to eat and a drink, after which I got out of the car to stretch my legs, the road had little traffic and the area was totally quiet. I walked around to the back of the car and stood looking back along the road from whence we had come and thinking to myself how peaceful and quiet it was.…

Did My Father Save Me?

My chilling encounter happened a year ago now and it still haunts me to this day; I won’t forget it. I sometimes have nightmares still though these seem to be getting less frequent.

I am 26 and for most of my life I’ve had heart problems. It got so bad that I was referred to surgery. They needed to fix my problem that was ruining my life. I thought I had to have a heart transplant. My father who died four years previously also suffered from heart issues and died from a severe heart attack. This only increased my anxiety more, as I genuinely thought I was going to die.

On the evening before my surgery, my mother, two girlfriends and myself checked into a hotel closer to the hospital so I could arrive there quickly in the afternoon of the following day. My mother and friends were getting ready for bed, fluffing up the pillows and washing etc., when …

Ghost Encounter in Rural Maine

In the mid 1990s I was doing property preservation (securing foreclosed houses) throughout New England. I would be on the road for 3 days straight, some times in rural Maine. I would stay in the house I was at, at the end of a 14 hour day, to save money on a hotel.

This one house, in Hamden, Maine, keep in mind these homes have no utilities, all have been disconnected. This one house was a former large turn of the century farm house remarkably clean with fresh paint. I would seek out the higher rooms, usually the 2nd floor, because the days warmth would stay in those rooms longer. Even in the summer the nights can get brisk.

Anyway this night I fell asleep about 9pm, and suddenly I was awakened by the sound of banging on the front door down stairs. I was not in a good mood being very tired, from the days labor, and I hurried …

I Believe My Child Sees Ghosts

I have been searching and searching and searching for every reasonable answer as to what is going on in my apartment and with my 4 year old child, Gigi. When Gigi was about 2 years old, there was an incident where Gigi bolted out of the downstairs bathroom, shaking, tears in her eyes and her voice was shaky as well. She kept repeating the name “Ralph”. She honestly scared the crap out of me and I didn’t know what to do besides prove to her that nothing was in the bathroom.

About 2 or 3 month later a strange incident occurred where the Airwick motion sensor freshener was on the wall. You can set the timer for these and I had it set to 36 minutes so every 36 minutes it would let out a small burst of freshener. One morning around 5am I heard a huge crash and went ran downstairs where I found the air freshener in the …

The Girl In White

My story takes place in the house I live in still to this day. My dad would say this is all in my mind, or I watch to much ghost movies, but I still believe there is something not right about my house. Here is my story!

When I was a 10th grader in high school my parents and I moved in with my sister and her daughter. I could always tell that something was not right about the stairs. Well when my sister had her son she was going down the stairs when she was pushed and fell with the baby it scared my sister, but she passed it off as she tripped. Soon after my mom fell down the stairs in the same that my sister fell. Some would say it was just the stairs, but when I fell down them I felt pushed and I know what I felt was real and not in my mind. When …

The Pirate Upstairs

As a young boy of 13 I lived on a farm in southern England next to the river Arun. Being the oldest with two brothers and three sisters I naturally became the baby sitter of them when my parents would go out on a Friday night. It was on one of those Friday nights that I experienced a paranormal experience!

I had just put my brothers and sisters to bed, made myself a cup of tea, put another log on the fire and just sat down to read a book [We had no TV or video games back then] when I heard a faint laughing and whispering sounds coming from upstairs. I got up from the chair and yelled “If you kids don’t knock it off I’m coming up there with the paddle". Then there was silence and a smile came on my face and I sat down to read my book. Half an hour later I could hear it …

Civil Defense Shelter Hole Tacoma

I am from Indiana and I lived in ther Tacoma, Washington area 30 years.

Iwas sleeping in a boiler room under Tacoma Avenue in the basement of the Brant Apartment Building. I worked there as a painter, I had the room to myself, bars on the only window, 2 doors one steal door padlocked from the outside and a stick propping the inside, the other led to a room with a civil defense manhole cover and out through a broken down wall which I had covered with around 8 old doors to keep out the cold, that door to the room I was in was hook locked from the inside, the lights were out the wind blew cold and hard as the door squeaked open and the tone of male voices and the sound of soil scratching under their weight moved closer, they lifted the tarp I had over me, I stayed still, it changed shape like a leviathan?

Any …

The Monks of Lilleshall

The beautiful ruins of Lilleshall Abbey sit lonely and unheralded at the end of a farm track, tucked away in an unexpected, sleepy corner of the Shropshire countryside. The decaying walls of the Abbey are shielded from the nearby road by a line of trees and feel distinctly isolated and sheltered from the outside world.

Stand at the centre of this imposing structure and breathe in the atmosphere; touch the cold, lichen-covered walls and journey through time to a darker, less enlightened age.

It was a miserable day to arrive at Lilleshall: the sky was a thick mass of angry cloud; the wind had whipped up and drove channels through the grass way; and the rain was beating heavily, running as fierce torrents across the ancient grey stone. I had parked the car in a neighbouring layby, just in case the approach proved too small and busy; why I don’t know – anyone else would have turned back in this …

I Thin I Saw My Grandmother’s Spirit

Just days after I turned 10 years old, I found out my grandmother had passed away. She was thought to have died in her sleep from either a stroke or heart complication (she had a heart condition we were aware of) the same night she and her husband (my grandfather) came back home from a trip.

It was the very beginning of the school year, the month of September and my parents, brother and I had to travel from Michigan to Quebec to attend my grandmother’s funeral. But it was not long until several strange occurrences began to happen.

One day during our stay in the condo, (which is where they lived) my mom had hung a bouquet of red roses upside down on the wall in my grandparent’s bedroom to dry them out. The next morning, my mom had noticed that the roses were placed on my grandmother’s bed faced up. She then had us go to that bedroom …
