While it happened long before I was born(1997 for all of you who are interested), I find myself thinking of the real incidents with the Mothman, not just the movie, more and more. I first learned about the Mothman about a year or so ago when I watch the movie The Mothman Prophecies with my older brother. After I saw that movie I wanted to learn everything I could about the Mothman. Most stories that I read are fan-fiction to the movie, and most pictures that I see are so obviously hoaxes.
Now I have seen reports about what the Mothman looked (looks?) like, and have seen “real” pictures. What I would like to know is, could the Mothman still be around?
The Silver Bridge collapse happened over the Ohio River in the mid-70′s. I can’t find many reports of Mothman sightings (this might just be operator error) past that year.
See, I live in Central Ohio, as I have my whole life. With the bridge collapse that happened so close to home, I keep thinking that if the Mothman was ever real, could it (he?) of stayed in Ohio?
Since the time I saw Pops in Nana’s basement I have been noticing something black following behind me. I have heard it whisper my name before(though it hasn’t happened since fifth grade), it has shut my bedroom door, moves things (too high off of the ground for it to be the dog or cat, mind you) while I’m home alone, moves my hair around, it has even yanked my jacket before. I have never looked this thing in the eyes. How I wear my hair it all but eliminates my peripheral vision. I do all that I can to avoid this thing. I can feel it watch me, it’s eyes penetrating my back.
I have asked people about this before. I have been told many things about it: it’s my dead grandfather watching over me, it’s Pops trying to take care of me, it’s a demon trying to eat my soul, the list goes on. I have an argument for most of them. I come from a very large family, why would my grandfather chose me over all of my cousins, aunts, and uncles? Pops died when I was almost too young to remember anything about him. Besides, he babysat so many children in his lifetime. He wouldn’t chose me just because I was his “little redhead”. And with the demon, if it really wanted to eat my soul, it would of done so by now.
I linked this with The Mothman Prophecies because that is the best way that I can describe how this thing looks. Take out the glowing red eyes and I could star in my own version of Mothman prophecies.

hi, it is very unlikely that you are being followed by the ‘mothman’. when you cross over you don’t choose who you look after, you are given the candidate, and the candidate in this case must have been you, i’m being looked after by a great-grandfather and he died 25 years before i was born! For further understanding, read the book “the angels of 9/11″ it really helps to find out about these things.

GHOST GIRL—i dont thinkn it is the mothman.no offence.i hardly dout it would be.the movie well i was dissapointed about it.and i love true movies,but that no.i dont think its still around because at the end of the movie no-one has seen it since.even its a movie and they change stuff alot but wouldnt(it) haunt others then just you?well maybe its something else who knowshas this thing done anything to you besides look at you and wave your hair?it could be alot of things sorry i dont know.well if you want to know forsure who it is take some pictures around the house and see what you see.i always say take pictures but if your not sure then whats the worse that can happen.well thanks for the story and keep us posted,and good luck.

I don’t know if you have already seen this, but there is an episode of Paranormal State where they investigate the Mothman and the bridge. If I remember correctly they saw something there. I remember reading the book , ‘The Mothman Prophecies’ by John Keel and seeing the movie, too. Have you read the book? Usually, the book is better and has more detail than the movie, so I would suggest you read the book, if you haven’t already.
Yes i saw that episode too and SOMETHING was spotted flying high in the dark above them… what it was is up to interpretation….I have seen a documentary and all the people saw the same thing though maybe at different times and they ALL swaer up and down they DID in fact SEE the mothman… why would they lie? They have faced harsh ridicule by being truthful but still they swera they are telling the truth…. who is to say what it really out there or not????

The mothman was sighted 2 more times after it was sighted in ohio. The mothman isn’t a spirit that would follow you around unless something bad is going to happen tyou, and even then the mothman has only been sighted WHERE it’s going to happen. I was born May 14th, 1997, and after learning of the mothman through senior cryptid hunters, I devoted 4 years of my life to studying it. I’ve studied it since I was 9, and it was sighted in ohio, mexico, and california. And each time it was sighted a 1week-2weeks before a natural disater. Mothman also has a “evil” counterpart called the Owlman.

HOW interesting! I always wonedered if Mothman didn’t hang arounf one area of the country because he was a deformed creature from the radiation factory in that area but he was spotted before 9-11 in NYC…. he reminds me of the GRAY MAN who always is seen walking on a certain stretch of beach right before a natuarl disaster as a warning of things to come….I will look into Mothman too- thanks!

Hey Ghost Girl. A Demon who wants to eat your soul I would for sure not believe but a demon I would. Since it hasn’t happened since fifth grade you may not have anything to worry about but if things start happening again I would seek help of someone who knows about demons. I do not know much of Mothman but things happened shortly after people saw him. I hope that this entity has moved on cause if it was a family member they wouldn’t do things to try to scare you.
Question: Did you see the movie before you started to see the mothman-like thing?
If you saw the movie first maybe whatever it is is just taking the form of something that you know( would recognize).
I saw the movie in the summer after sixth grade, when I first started to see this shape thing whatever it was in fifth grade.

its not mothman ghost girl, but im followed by a creature too, i did research to figure out wat it could be and the best decription was the owlman, but demons come in many different guises, could even look like your best friend or dad, and whether or not it could be ur grandpa lookin after u, that is very possible tho it may not look like him as he looked in life….i kno its wierd but its the same with my grandma, “big granny”
