Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

This story is from when I was a young girl, can’t remember exactly but I believe I must have been five or six years old. My brother is a year and a half younger than me, and at the time he used to sleep in my bed a lot because he would have nightmares. My parents hadn’t yet taught us about religion, so I had no concept of god, Jesus, the devil, or good and evil I guess? I also was too young to have learned about ghosts or anything of the sort. But I honestly can’t explain what really happened to me and my brother this one night.

Anyways, my brother and I had gone to bed (in my bed). For some reason we both weren’t able to go to sleep right away, which is strange for my brother because he could fall asleep almost immediately. We were both laying awake in the dark for some time (a half hour or so), when I start to experience an oncoming feeling of panic. I remember I was laying on my back, eyes wide open and my brother was laying the same way. This feeling of panic quickly turned into terror and I whispered my brother’s name and he replied so I knew he was awake too and he sounded like he was scared too. I felt like I could not move a single muscle of my body. I do not believe that this could have been sleep paralysis because I hadn’t fallen asleep yet. The worst part was a VERY STRONG feeling of a very evil presence in the room, and this feeling kept building. I began to see a red mist appear slowly in the room, until all I could see was a blood red and nothing else. At this point I remember trying to scream and nothing coming out but a small hoarse whisper. Then I remember me and my brother both sitting up in bed and simultaneously throwing up over each side of the bed. We’re both screaming and crying and our parents come upstairs to find a mess of puke and two very scared kids. I don’t ever remember explaining what happened to them, but I remember we all slept in my parents bed for the rest of the night.

Is anybody able to give me some insight as to what this could have been? Or what it might have meant? I am puzzled to this day and my brother has very little recollection of it now. Anything would be great, thank you.
