Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

This happened to me when I was around twelve I am 18 now.

Well me and my family used to live with my grandmother in her house before we used to live in the house we do now. My grandmother’s house is old, and by old I mean it was in the same location when the town was still mostly orange groves. It is also a very small house it used to be a one room one bath, but my very greedy uncle had added on two more rooms and one bath with very cheap supplies to keep most of the money that my grandmother had given him to build it. Well the floor was basically hollow through out the new part of the house, so if anyone was moving in the house you could hear them since there was only one hallway.

Well one night in the summer before we moved it was around 3 am I had suddenly awoken to the sounds of someone stomping the hallway very loudly. I could see quite clearly since my grandmothers restroom light was always on at night since she was blind in one eye because her diabetes. The restroom was painted a sea foam green so the hall was some what lit by the greenish hue. Well I turned to look at the clock sort of angry that I was being awoken at this hour. At first I thought it was my dad since he is a truck driver and usually comes home at all hours of the night, but no it was Saturday dad does not work on this day. So I just assumed it was my grandma…wrong I wish I was right.

I turned around and sat on my bed rubbing my eyes I called out “Grandma go to bed it’s too late for you to be doing this” the stomping continued. The stomping seemed to be coming for the back door which was the last door of the hall. I stood up as the stomping came closer to my room, and since I had no door I was ready to tell my grandma off. As whatever it was passed my room door I froze in complete awe and fear. Mind you my room was pretty small so I was about 4 feet away from this thing. It was huge bigger than the frame of my door. It so black like darker than dark, but I think I can remember being able to see through it almost like a mist of black. It moved slowly or at least that’s what it seemed, but the stomping continued even though it was just a big body with what seemed to be a head at the top.

As it passed me it made it’s way to my grandmothers bedroom door which was open. Or at least I assumed since I heard her scream something like “Oh my god” and cursed right after. When I heard her yell that I had to look down the hall it was still there moving into the darkness of the kitchen. Once it disappeared into the kitchen I ran into my grandmothers room (I knew my parents door was locked). She was in tears she had told she thought it was my grandfather which had died in a car fire way before my time. She said this thing was sinister, and she would light a candle with the Virgin Mary to keep it away. But she said it the candle had been used up the night before, and no one wanted to take her to get a new one. She taught me a special prayer that would help when I was afraid, and I fell asleep.

My grandmother has long since passed away, but the house is still there my cousin owns it now, and well I since have not forgotten. I cant even sleep in my current house with out the bedroom door shut now.
