So I’ve never really put any of these things together, but it seems that perhaps there’s something paranormal in my life. First off, I’ve always had an odd sort of luck. Not like winning the lottery luck or anything (though that would be nice), but more like not getting hurt when I really should have been or somehow accidentally just missing being in a bad place at a bad time.
The first thing I remember as clearly seeming out of the ordinary happened when I was probably about 13 or so early one morning. I was about to head outside with my dogs to help my dad with the horses in the barn (it was one of those New England chilly foggy mornings). I got to the garage and realized that needed something from the house (I don’t remember what now). I went to go back out the door and it wouldn’t budge. It wasn’t locked, and it opened inwards and I will tell you I was hanging off it with all my weight but it definitely was not moving. I finally stand up and look out into the backyard through the window and see a pack of coy-dogs walking across the field (which I cross to get to the barn). This wouldn’t have been nearly so scary if a neighbor hadn’t illegally kept wolves that he released when the cops started to catch on. These wolves had interbred with the coyotes which made them quite large and aggressive. Peoples pets had been disappearing and such, if the door hadn’t stuck I would have walked right into them in the fog, with my medium sized dog. I watched them cross the yard and grabbed my dads pellet gun, and at this point the door swung open.
My dad also has told me that I had quite a few impressive falls and landed directly on my head out of the monkey bars a few times but never was hurt. I also tend to be a few seconds behind or ahead of accidents on regular occasions, and have gotten odd feelings that alter my pattern of behavior causing me to avoid being in an accident, or move just enough to not be hit by a falling object (that no one heard start to fall or saw until at head level).
Just yesterday I was rehearsing for a gig and was getting my guitar packed in my truck when didn’t see my wallet in the cupholder (where I was pretty sure I left it) so I made my way back to the practice space and looked around.. no wallet. At that point I thought maybe I threw it in my guitar case or something or perhaps left it home. I got back in my truck and lo and behold there it is in my cupholder that I literally had put my hand in to double check for it. About halfway home on the highway traffic grinds to a stop and there’s a large SUV crashed into the concrete barrier on one side and a van completely wrecked, smoking and leaking fluid crashed into the median. Cops weren’t even there yet, people were trying to get out of vehicles, one girl was propped up against the wall clearly very injured. I figure that extra two minutes spent on my wallet saved me quite a bit of hassle. This sort of thing happens regularly, just the most recent example.
Also, I get stuck on EVERYTHING. I walk by doors and get my coat belt caught on a ROUND doorknob, like jerks me backward caught. Or I stand up out of a chair and somehow my hood is stuck on the back. Even walking down a stairway with a hand rail that has a slight joint in it where two pieces were connected (sanded out so that its just a slight rise) my jacket cuff will get caught enough to make me stop back up and unhook it. This really isn’t in my head, friends that are around me consistently have noticed without me mentioning it. Generally the things I get stuck on are such odd things to become that attached to without any effort that people cant even replicate it on purpose.
Anyway just thought I’d put that out there and see if anyone had thoughts. Thanks!
