Kim is my very best friend. She lost her mother in 1980 and her father in 1986; oddly the same years I lost my paternal grandparents. I met Kim in the fall of 1989 and she had been living alone for years already by the time I met her.
Kim comes from a large family but is younger by many years. She was always close to her mother and her sister Darlene. With her mother already gone, her relationship with Darlene grew closer. Sadly Darlene lost her battle with cancer back in 2002. I had the opportunity to meet Darlene once and you could see the closeness the sisters shared.
Kim and I both have an interest in the paranormal. Kim felt Darlene’s loss deeply; but we are both Christians and the thought of an Ouija board never came up. Instead, we both asked Darlene to show Kim a sign that she was all right on the other side.
One evening, not too long after we started asking for a sign from Darlene, Kim got her sign…It was an ordinary evening and Kim’s phone rang. She answered it and got the dial tone. A few minutes later the phone rang again.
This time she heard what sounded just like Darlene’s voice saying “Hi Kim!” Kim dropped the phone from shock; then realizing what she heard she quickly picked it back up! “Dar is that you?” Kim gasped, “Goodbye” she heard softly in a whisper and the line went dead… Kim called me immediately.
I was so glad that somehow Darlene had been able to reach Kim one last time.
