I want to let everyone know that this is a true story, and nothing is made up. My grandfather was a good man for the most part, he loved my sister and I very much. I guess that my grandfather had gotten sick when I was about seven or eight years old. He came back from the doctor’s office and didn’t even say anything to my grandmother. He just walked back into the bedroom.
My grandmother was doing the dishes when she thought she heard some glass break in the back room. She went back into her and my grandfather’s bedroom to find him in his suit and dress shoes, but he wasn’t alive, he was dead. My grandfather had killed himself. From that point on my grandmother would wake up and tell me she would see my grandfather in the hallway and she would always see him.
When my mom, dad, sister, and I moved to Georgia in 1999 we never thought my grandmother would ever get Alzheimer’s, but she did. In the summer of 2002 we came back to Indiana to take care of her. When my husband and I met it kept the stress of everything off me. Well when I had the chance to move with him to Rossville I did. The summer my husband’s family went to Cedar Point I was invited so I went too. I called to see how my grandmother was doing since she was in the hospital. My sister told me she was not doing so good, and that I needed to come home. I told my sister I didn’t have a way home.
The next day we left, and by the time we got back, my grandmother was already gone. The day of her showing and funeral we were all in the garage that she made into a room. My mother was looking at the door, because my grandmother would always peek her head in, and in that exact same time the door opened like someone was peeking in. My mom said, “It’s ok to come in mom.” When she said that the door opened wider, the room got cold and then the door closed. Ever since the summer of 2003 I have been hearing my grandmother and seeing her in my dreams but the dreams feel so real.
This is all true and not fake, everything I said in this submission is true. Thank you for this chance to let me submit my story.
