Demons Under The Bed

Posted on February 14, 2009

In the late 80′s, my older brother was really into hard core films and music. His bedroom walls were adorned with posters of every horror film villain to heavy metal bands such as W.A.S.P.

As were everyone in our sleepy town, we were southern Baptist. Devout southern Baptist. I remember a traveling evangelist came to our church. He preached about the dangers of rock music and even went as far as playing def leopard’s “hysteria” backwards! Well that was all it took for my mother. As soon as we went home, the movie posters came down and all of the cassette tapes of rock music were confiscated.

My mother put these items under her bed for the night until she could burn them the next day. I slept in my mothers bed that night so I know what happened is true.

At about midnight, I awoke to whispers. Once my eyes adjusted to the light, I could see that my mother was peering over the blanket, wide eyed at the foot of the bed. As I looked in that direction, I could see an indentation in the covers, as if a cat was pacing across the foot of the bed. My mother drew her feet up to herself and the whispering got louder and louder.

Mother grabbed me, pulled me close and began to quote scriptures from the bible, from the book of Romans. We shut our eyes tight and my mother repeated scripture after scripture. Then suddenly, the whispers stopped. The scurrying across the foot of the bed ceased.

The next day, my mother took the items to a burn pile. It took almost an hour for the tapes to even begin to burn. And as they did, the whispers returned. But we, walked away and never looked back.

  2. emily says:

    lol jackie

  3. *interesting* says:

thats scary but is it really that bad to listen to rock music its not like the band members intended the lyrics to be frightening backwards………

  4. Eddie says:

Uh… Yea wat Interesting said and also if you see things like that on the internet almost all of it is fake becuase i found out how to do it.

  5. Woozle Wuzzle says:

I’ve listened to heavy metal ever since the 80s and still do and have never been plagued by demons. This story never happened.
    This story is pure fiction.

  6. Karen M. says:

My brother listened to AC/DC while growing up and still does I swear he’s possessed or just retarded!

    • Caretaker says:

I listened to AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and the like when I was growing up and I still do. Music does not make people become possessed. They may blame it on the music but there are problems elsewhere that are really causing it. It is easy, especially for older people, to blame problems on music.

Karen – I wouldnt doubt it at all that your brother acts possessed or just retarded BUT it isnt because of AC/DC, it because thats just the way he is.

  7. Karen M. says:

Ha Ha Caretaker, I know or it could of been all the pot he smoked lol

P.S. My comment was just a joke I know that its not cause of AC/DC!

oh and I know that AC/DC wasnt a satanic band the only person that ever got taken to court over lyrics was Ozzy Osbourne cause they , the parents claimed that thier son commited suicide after listening to one of his songs, I guess our musical tastes dont run the same, I prefere The Gipsy Kings, and no Im not old!

    • Caretaker says:

I have a wide range in musical taste. While I like heavy metal and classic rock I am also a huge bluegrass, country, jazz, blues….. and even some hip hop. Oh and by the way wacky weed wont do it either….

  8. Karen M. says:

Me too I like alot of stuff except for Rap I can’t stand that, maybe the pot burned out his last remaing brain cell! Who knows

  9. Woozle Wuzzle says:

i used to listen to Deicide and Morbid Angel, ive listened to Slayer for years, and my current favorite band is Cradle of Filth who ive been listenin to since 2001. if these bands havent brought demons to trouble me then the writer of this story needs to explain that one lol.

  10. Karen M. says:

Well no, I had a friend while growing up and her father was REALLY CHRISTIAN, he would bless us with Holy Water, and he absolutely forbid his daughters to have posters on their walls, or listen to heavy metal. I know that’s wierd, but there are people out there like that, I even read on a web site one about demons that listening to heavy metal, does actually invite the devil, I don’t believe that but then again I don’t like heavy metal, who was that lady that wanted to ban all that Tipper Gore, I think. I like the singer of Metallica, not because of his music, but because I saw him in a few interviews and he is wicked, wicked intelligent!

  11. Woozle Wuzzle says:

    Tipper Gore sucks.

James Hetfield is the singer from Metallica. ive listened to them for years also (but they dont have a satanic background).

heavy metal does not invite the devil. explain to me how playing guitars with a heavy crunch through an amp, along with fast drum beats and double bass (which not all heavy bands use a lot of double bass, or play lots of fast beats) is any more evil than Britney Spears. there are metal bands that have satanic lyrics but thats the only reason they would be considered satanic: cuz the words placed to the music is about satan or evil. it dont matter tho, listening to someguy sing evil lyrics is not gonna invoke demons to pester someone who enjoys music.

  12. Karen M. says:

Woozle Wuzzule, I didn’t say that heavy metal invites the devil, I said that I saw that on the internet under “demon possessions”, they also say that watching demonic movies invites the devil too, I was just qouteting what I read!

  13. Karen M. says:

P.S. Sorry I mispelled your name, and you sound like a burner dude, cause you’re always paranoid about comments and saying that this site is corrupt!
