Where to begin… guess I should start from the time I was 16.

When I turned 16 I noticed that things were different in my surroundings at home. It was like something ominous had settled into my life and the house we lived in. I remember very clearly that my sister and I had fallen asleep around 9 pm since it was a school night.

While I was sleeping I remember having a dream of sorts that scared me so much that I woke up screaming. I remember dreaming that I was in a house that looked like it was Victorian and it was very dark I could see something that looked like a shadow by the window and I could hear it calling my name. I went into the house and tried turning on the lights only to find out that there was no electricity. I could a presence in the house that felt very heavy. As I was climbing the stairs in my dream I felt something cold touch my leg and I screamed and when I looked to see what it was I saw an old ugly hand that looked charred with long pointy finger nails. This is when I woke up screaming.

My sister turned on the light and she said she could feel like something had been in the room with us. My parents came into our room to see what all the commotion was about. I told them about my dream and my dad took a look at my leg and saw that I had a long scratch on my leg. He said I probably scratched myself when I was asleep, since I had long nails. I decided to sleep in the living room and my sister did too. The next morning I felt like something kept following me around and watching me.

A few nights later as I was trying to sleep I heard someone call out my name in a whispery voice. I thought it was sister. I asked her what she wanted and she didn’t answer. Why? She was already asleep. So I turned over to look out the window and lo and behold I saw a man standing outside the window looking in. I screamed and all of a sudden he was gone. My daddy went outside after I told him what I had seen. Nobody there and no signs of anyone having been there. I thought I was going crazy for a while. Mom took me to see a our family priest at the time since we are catholic and he said I needed to wear a crucifix of sorts and have one over headboard to see if that would help. It did for a while. Then it came back with a vengeance.

About 6 months after I turned 16, I started having all these weird dreams. It was like I was seeing things happen in dreams before or at the time they were happening. It was so scary. I remember telling my mom that I was scared cause every time I had one of these dreams something happened. Case in point. When I dreamt about a friend of mine dying on a back road in a car/motorcycle accident, I remember waking and telling my mom that I had had another of the ugly dreams. Not 30 minutes later the phone rings and it’s my friends sister telling us that he had been killed earlier that night. He had been riding his motorcycle when a car hit him head-on while swerving to avoid hitting a deer. In my dream he was wearing a blue spirit shirt with the name of his school on it with black pants. I told my mom everything I saw in my dream through tears. The day of the funeral, I overheard his mom talking to mine and telling her that he had been wearing his new spirit shirt and some new black pants that she had just gotten him 3 days before. How freaky is that?

As time went by the dreams intensified and so did the things I saw and heard. I was told by a woman who was like a witch doctor/shaman of sorts tell me that I had a gift and that I shouldn’t be afraid of it. Easy for her to say since the things I was seeing and hearing we scary. She told me to pray for the dead when I saw them and to always say, “I am a child of God and in Jesus name I rebuke you” when something unholy made it’s presence known to me and for me to always car a crucifix with me or a rosary and to pray. It worked at times and at others it just got worse. I have had to learn to live with these hauntings and the fact that I have this “Gift”. It has had it’s upside but also it’s downside to it.

At present I am having to deal with a particularly obsessive “ghost” in my bedroom who doesn’t like males of a certain age. He has made his presence known to my nephews and my son and law and all other males who have spent the night in my home. He has let me know he is upset with me when I leave the house and don’t come back for a few days. I’m still trying to figure out how to best deal with him. Hopefully soon he will stop and I will find a way to get rid of him. As it is right now that I am writing this story he is watching me. Hopefully he don’t know how to read.
