Bath Tub Doppelganger

Posted on July 30, 2009

I have always been interested in the paranormal and firmly believe in a spiritual aspect to our existence, but my adamant feelings on the unexplained did not manipulate what happened to me. The odd occurrence happened when I lived with three other girls in a two story house and found myself one night alone in it.

I recently adopted a puppy and my neighbors, who aged from three to nine, were his biggest fans and they were always ringing the door bell hoping to see him. I decided he needed a break from them so I brought him into my room which had a bathroom connected to it. Because I had a long day at work, I decided to take things easy and started a warm bath. After soaking in it for a few moments, I heard faint voices and movement in the living room which was only down the hall from my room. (I lived on the first floor, in the masters bedroom) I figured that it was one of my roommates coming back from an outing that day and paid no more attention to it.

The foot steps traveled up to the room above mine and walked around. Then the foot steps navigated down the stairs. It seemed that each step taken on the stairs was defined and solid – like it was a large person, so I just assumed that one of the boyfriends accompanied one of my roomies. Then there was complete silence.

Suddenly but faintly there were three small taps on my door. They were low to the ground like a little kid tapped on my door, but it seemed whoever did it was kinda scared to do it because it was so faint sounding. It took me by surprise and I became immediately wigged out and croaked a soft “hello?” Of course, no reply. I was kinda freaked out and suddenly thought it was my crazy little neighbors, who somehow made it inside the house and were looking for my puppy. But that didn’t stop me from turning a hanger into a weapon as I quickly dressed and texted my boyfriend, that I was home alone but there was someone there.

I slowly walked down my hall to the living room. I checked the front door, locked. Both back and garage doors were locked as well. My boyfriend called me and I was telling him the story in the kitchen. I turned around and saw a dark little girl’s silhouette in my front living room window. I couldn’t breathe for a second until I realized that it was my neighbor. I ran to the front door and asked her if any one came inside my house or pulled up in the drive way. She was seven so I could believe her when she said no. I asked a bunch of times in different ways and she still said that no one ever came up to the house. Her and her brothers had been keeping an eye on my house waiting for my dog to come outside… that’s kinda creepy in itself, but here’s the crazy part.

Apparently she was looking through that window to my living room a few minutes before I managed to get out of the tub because she told me that all she saw was me in the living room and then suddenly I ran upstairs and then she saw me a few seconds later come into the living room from the hall which led from my bedroom. I was really confused because not once did I venture up the stairs and anyways she said I ran up the stairs BEFORE I came from the hall. I really went into the living room then the kitchen. After hearing her say that (and we debated over it for a while but she was certain that I did some kind of magic trick because I went one place and appeared in another…) I decided that I didn’t want to stay around much longer and found refuge in my boyfriend’s apartment. But just looking back now makes me wonder who that girl was she saw and why was she wearing the same clothes as me and everything… bizarre!
