I was 9 years old when I started seeing unusual things. When I moved into my new house I knew something wasn't right. The walls felt damp and my bedroom was dusty no matter how many times I cleaned it. I thought nothing of it at first, just thinking it would take some getting used to.
I had the smallest room in the house for a bedroom, I liked it as I made myself feel at home by adding my favourite pictures to the wall. I tried to sleep well that night, but a distraction of a dogs bark echoed through my ears. I looked out of the window to see a dog staring right at me from the far side of my garden. I couldn't sleep that night. Not a wink.
The next day at Breakfast my mum asked me how I'd slept. I told her that I couldn't sleep at all due to the discomfort of the dog. My Mum smiled and assured me that I will get used to the new house within time. I still couldn't sleep. Not for nights, I sometimes had to sleep in school hours because I wasn't getting enough sleep to function. My teachers were shocked by my lack of effort at school and called my parents. My Mum said that I must get sleep and blamed it on my bed and said I can sleep in her bed with her that night. I slept like a baby.
A week later I went back to my own bed, feeling happy about sleeping in my own room again. As my head hit my pillow my window blasted open and a cold draught hit me. I felt like someone was watching me, like I had company. I eventually got to sleep after I'd closed my window and slept in my dressing gown. But when I woke up I was astonished. My pictures were scattered all over my floor and my chair was broken in three pieces with two missing legs. I ran to the bathroom and washed my face, just hoping it was all a dream. I lent closely towards the mirror and saw blood coming down from my ear. But when I moved slightly back I looked like I normally did.
After I had told my mum my whole experience she was as shocked as I was and told the teachers why I hadn't been concentrating.
Ever since then I have never seen such a thing.
My Mum asked someone who lived nearby who lived there before us. The lady explained that a troubled teenager took her life because she felt like someone was watching her.
I'm now just thankful that I didn't choose the decision that couldn't be undone. I wish I could have told the teen to just give it time. No word a lie. Written by 14 year old, Rachel.
