What was in the Ark of the Covenant and what Happened to it?

The Ark of the Covenant

Throughout most of the Old Testament the Ark of the Covenant is the most important material thing. Whenever it was taken it was written about and the ark was regained. Yet nothing at all is written in the Bible explaining why or where it had gone. In fact there isnt even any mention of it all! Not even a simple “Hey the ark went missing!” It is just gone without a word. That doesnt seem right to me. I feel like ‘they’ would have certainly written about it. Maybe something WAS written about it and it didnt make it into the official publication. Perhaps it was even destroyed.

What was in the Ark?

Judging by a lot of the descriptions I read in the Bible there appears to have been something radioactive in the ark. Perhaps it was the tablets themselves that were radioactive? Remember how Moses’ face was so disfigured by the event on Mt Sinai? From that day on he couldnt go in front of people without covering his face because it was so bad to look at. (Hmm they never have that part in any of the movies or story books).

  1. Morning CT,

According to what I have read over the years, its a magnificient power source that will burn a person to ash if they touch it. Might be fantasy. I do remember one webpages that said the Americans had actually built one using the instructions from the bible, and it gave off a lot of electrical energy .. but can’t find the wegpage anymore. It was few years ago.

What was in it .. the broken stones of the original commandments, I think. I want to know if they had 613 rules inscribed on ‘them’. I also want to know how ‘god’ inscribed 613 rules on two stone tablets small enough for Noah to carry down the mountain by himself .. the writing would have been too small to read. Let’s be logical here.

Where is it .. well, lost, hidden under the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, in a church in Ethiopia .. that one I consider possible, don’t want to test it. The legend is, I believe, that you will die if you see it. Great way to hide something. Also .. might be here in Preston in Victoria, Australia? LOL I figure Noah’s Arc is here too, given that I live within stone’s throw of Mt Ararat. :-)

Whoops I cross posted the comment about Moses to the other site? No breakfast yet.

    • There’s a show here in America called MythBusters. They built an Ark on there and from my recollection they built a model and deemed the possibility plausible.

I wonder if it was perhaps fantasy and another way to build up this myth of how powerful Moses was?

I know I sound so skeptical, but I tend to try to rule out all possibilities before I’m willing to possibly believe something…No fun, I know!

      • Me too:

        Occam’s Razor.

A little simplicity might be the answer.

        • I find putting Occam’s Razor to use saves a lot of work! lol

However, sometimes things just can’t be explained by our simple human minds!

          • True. LOL Makes life very interesting. :-)

      • The ark had no ‘magical’ nor ‘mystical’ powers in its own right.

But look at it from the Israelist’s point of view – there they were, out in the desert (later, travelling around Canaan) with a casket made from Egyptian gold which they couldn’t hide nor lock away for safe keeping. So, what better way to protect it than to create a myth about its ‘devine’ protection powers which would kill anyone who went near it. Lets face it, only the foolhardy thief would attempt to steal something that was proported to kill people.

It is also strange that legend states that the Ark mainly killed the Israelites. Probably because no one actually got killed by it at all, but who would trust a potential robber to go spreading a fable like that about?? Na! Keep the myth alive by having many in-house ‘victims’.

  2. And another thought:

Moses had a shining face (according to my bible) – could be radiation burns .. but then you would have thought they would write ‘red face’ .. shining? From talking to a burning bush? Tight skin, internal glow from talking to God? Sounds like heatstroke? What do people with radiation burns look like ..? I guess they didn’t have good moisturiser in those days?

And why would talking to God cause burns? Bruises, scratches, hand marks, strangle marks .. all signs of a very cranky entity that some people worship, but not God .. the loving version that is. Poor Moses, just another burden to bear, separated from his people (the veil) by his relationship with their god. Maybe that was why he lived 900 years .. the radiation changed the substructure of his body?

    • Moses lived 120 years, Ama – hahaha!
(Although, probably the reality was more like 80 years)

      • Hmm.. someone lived to be 900, was it Abraham? Or Enoch? Too lazy to look it up this morning ;-)

        Ama

        • LOL!

          I think it was Noah … 950 ??? Or Adam … 930.

Abraham was 175 when he popped his clogs, but Enoch is supposed not to have died yet.

Methuselah was the oldest man who ever lived on this earth, and died at 969 years old.

          LOL!

          • Aha .. it was Methuselah .. thank you. LOL

Enoch and Elijah both presumably ascended into heaven rather than dying, and were transformed into high state beings, but I don’t agree they became angels. Whatever. :-)

          • Wasn’t it after the flood when people started having shorter and shorter lives? I mean, drastically in comparison? Was maybe there not enough of the original ‘aging’ genes left in their family to fend off disease? I’m just thinking about the long-lived turtles: 250 years is not uncommon. Some parrots, 150? I think some genetic thing happened, or God chose Moses ‘becasue’ of that, and (!) he was a holier man? Something happened then, for sure.

          • I once read an article written by a doctor (this was before the Internet) which claimed that the human body was actually designed to last much longer than it does. Even hundreds of years. Its been a long time since I read it so the details are a bit fuzzy in my mind but he was talking about how ‘they’ didnt really understand tha aging process and why the human body broke down so quickly (relatively spaeaking)

          • Hi CT,

I probably read the same article. Did it explain that the human mind is finite and can implode (go insane)when overloaded with memories? Maybe that explains my filing system? LOL

It also talked about how our environment, and what we pollute it with, was what was killing us off much earlier than need be. And that bodies often lingered, unchanged, in the ground because of all the preservatives we eat, often unconsciously, on a day to day basis. Hmm… more vampire stories? LOL

            Love & Peace
            Ama

          • Nope this was different, this was a purely scientific article about the human body.

          • Hi Keith,

The radiation from the Ark fried everyone’s genes so we all die much sooner .. now there’s a possibility.

            Good thought. LOL

    • Hi Ama

“Moses had a shining face (according to my bible) … veil …”

      I have another theory:

Moses may have had a disease which meant he was abnormally sensitivity to sunlight – LUPUS for example. Photosensitivity, affects over one half of people with LUPUS. Sunlight exposure can cause different types of rash, including the common (butterfly rash) on the cheeks and nose, a rash with disc-shaped lesions, and a rash with circular red shapes on the chest, back, and arms. The rashes may take weeks or months to heal and may cause scarring.

Obvously, with no SuperDrug around the next sand-bank to get some sun block, I’m guessing the veil would’ve made a good second-best. LOL!

Going up a mountain with exposed skin would have certainly caused a flare-up, if he had something like LUPUS.

      AJ
      x

      • Hi AJ,

Given the environment Moses lived in, and the type of symptoms Lupus has, I don’t think he would have lived to be a very old man, just to start with. It can be triggered by sunlight and stress. I’m sure he had tons of both. And is there any record of him doing anything but ‘walking through the desert’? Or carrying those big stone tablets down the moutain? In an attack, walking, or even moving, would have been excruciating. So .. I don’t think I can agree with you.

Oh were is our time machine? LOL

        Love & Peace
        Ama

        • Wouldn’t a time-machine be great!!!???

As for LUPUS – it is complicated. With some it attacks the brain, others; vital organs. In the case of my mum it was joints and skin. Its a very hard disease to diagnose. But suffers can live to a ‘normal’ life term, depending on how it attacks them and its severity.

There are, of course, plenty of other complains/diseases associated with intolerence to sunlight. or even skin cancer.

I like your alien theory – lol!

          x

          • Hi y’all
My brother has Lupus. When it’s in remission, no problems, when it flares up, his joints swell so bad he can’t walk, poor thing. :( Thankfully it hasn’t been an issue for many years, and he’s now off meds. If Moses had it like he did… ouch!! hehe

            Keith

  3. From what I’ve read, the ‘Ark of the Covenant’ must have been a nuclear radio-active power source given to Moses by the biblical god Enki or Enlil (first colonizers of planet Earth)OR possibly remnants of a radio-active meteorite found by Moses atop the mountain.

Obviously this stone or device had to be carefully housed and handled in a manner which would prevent the handlers from radio-activity, those few individuals who were given explicit handling instructions were privileged and trusted individuals.

Moses was by no means an ignorant man, remember, he was reared from a baby in the Pharaohs household, having been educated and schooled at the highest degree in all manner of subjects ie. magic, reading, writing and aritmatic, astrology/astronomy and other secrets only privy to the privileged. He was therefore the ideal person to lead the Israelites from Egyptian bondage to the Promised Land.

It would appear, the contents of the ark were so powerful as to protect the Israelites in war against their enemies as well as having other uses and, attached to the ark was a ‘covenant’, no doubt, (if these people accept me as their god, not only have I provided them with ‘nuclear’ protection but, this protection would endure until they reached the ‘promised land’ and beyond).

We know later on, King Solomon extracted power from this device to power his vehicle which floated above the surface of the ground and flew over the oceans to the far east – probably India. We also know that on one of his land journeys, the Ark of the Covenant was being transported by horse carriage, when the carriage hit a bump on the road, those guards on either side instinctively put their arms out to prevent the ark from falling to the ground and were killed instantly. They were not equipped or protected to handle the ark and were badly burnt by radio-activity.

As to what happened to the ark and its contents, I believe over time, the power dissipated and it became inactive OR perhaps, god Enki had it buried deep in the ground where it cannot be found.

I don’t believe the Ethiopians are guarding it, they have replicas of the ark and are playing the tourist game. :-)

    • Hi Pat

      Question:

If the Ark was a nuclear radio-active power source, how come the Babylonian’s were able to have away with it, without them all being killed instantaniously, before it had even left Solomans temple??

      Just a thought …

      AJ
      x

      • Perhaps because they didnt open it?

        • According to legend, you only had to stand near the thing to get fried!!!

But then, its a legend …

          x

          • Once it killed because the wrong type of incense was burned.

          • No, you actually had to come in contact with it, then it fried you. All that electrical energy! :-)

            Ama

          • Hi Ama

Then wouldn’t that make it more electrical rather than radioactive??

Maybe a battery with no earth?? That’d zap ‘em when touched if they could get enough current going through it.

How many 4000 year old DC battery’s linked together would it take to apply enough voltage to kill someone? Approx 360 clay battery cells linked together (I think I worked it out to be) to get 240v, using the gold as the conductor with the poor unfortunate person who touched it as the earth.

            That’s a lot of maintenance – lol!

          • Who knows, AJ. It was the age of miracles, so maybe the arc was superpowered by God afterall and it did kill people? Or maybe the aliens gave it to the Israelites? No one could touch it.

Hmm.. must have been very ‘interesting’ times to live in. :-)

  4. Ah! One of my favorite subjects of which I have a few theories. The Ark of the Covenant, in my opinion is, indeed, in Ethiopia! When the Babylonians destroyed the temple, Solomons temple, of which I have been taught a few legends/myths/facts(?), the Ark was never found. It was buried deep within the ruins. The Babylonians never left with it, or they would’ve bragged about it, as they were very much the ‘braggart’ type.

So, is it still there and if not, how did it get to Ethiopia??? That’s the real question. I have been taught one way in which it could’ve very well happened. Very plausable, as the Mythbusters might say :)

during the 12th century, a group of men known as the Knights Templar, whose job it was to protect the crusaders on pilgrimage to the Holy Land, were ordered to begin a search for the Ark and bring it back to France. they were very well financed (to the point to where they were later killed off because the government of France became scared to death of them, but that’s another story for another time!). It was said that in the 1130′s, the Templars took this task to heart and began in earnest to explore the ruins of the temple mount. They bribed and even forced the locals to stay away from that part of the temple under which they dug. No one suspected what they were up to. Now, the Knights of Templar who were actually present numbered over a thousand, and each and every one had taken an oath to die in defense of the Christ…. and the protection of the Ark once found. legend has it that they indeed did find it very deep in the catacombs of the temple. It took years to find.

At this point, the government of France was very upset with the Templars. The knights became rich with protection fees and shared none of it with France. They even began to loan money as a bank does. They were very powerful, and the knew France was plotting to wipe them out. Time was short….

They found the ark, but could not take it anywhere in western europe, as they were all wanted men and did not want france to posses the ark. So, to honor their oath to God, some were sent to deliver the ark to Ethiopia, which the knights got along VERY well for many reasons. They struck a deal, and the Ethopians hid the ark. They gaurd it to this day with their lives. I truly believe this is where it is. Their entire nation would die to keep it hidden from human eyes. Only one priest is allowed in the temple with it, and till he dies, then another pious man takes his place. The nations military will defend that little building to the last bullet. That speaks volumes to me.

  5. The Babylonians were proported to have taken it back to Babylon, after they’d destroying Solomans Temple in 586 BC, which is pretty much the last known documentation of it’s existence. So it’s probably still there, but now its buried benieth the US army tank-park and helecopeter pad after they’d flattened half of Babylon in order to set up camp during the Iraq war – section B5. LOL!

    • Very interesting. Where was this documented?

      • Book of Ezra (1 Esdras 1:54) suggests that Babylonians:

“…took all the holy vessels of the Lord, both great and small, and the ark of God, and the king’s treasures, and carried them away into Babylon.”

All the stuff about the US army trouncing all over the ruins of Babylon are everywhere on the internet. Here’s the BBC report on it:

        http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4177577.stm

        x

  6. hmmm… Read it and had to chuckle. Don’t they know we Americans aren’t interested in the Ark? Apparently, we just need to test new weapons. That’s what truly makes us happy :) yuk

  7. I had read that the Queen of Sheba, took the arc back to Ethiopia with her after her very brief marriage to Solomon…as Solomon was beginning to fall into his greed, lust and worshipping false gods, and was no longer a pure enough person to house it….no one else read this?

How do we ask a question on this site?
