Questions About My Childhood Home

A few things have happened in my childhood home, and now that I am back living there for now, it brought up some old memories. I have researched and been unable to come up with the following explanations and was hoping someone out there may have heard of or experienced the same thing.

1) About 11 years ago, my father was working in the middle of the night. My mother woke me up at around 1 am and asked me to come down to her bedroom. I sat on her bed and she told me that every 6 minutes, you will hear a phone ring. Sure enough, every six minutes I heard a phone ring. It sounded like it was coming from the basement, but there is absolutely no phone line downstairs. We have not heard the “phantom ringing” since that one night.

2) After I moved out (this takes place about 2 years ago), my mother called me and told me that the phone on her bedside table had a pool of water under it. When she picked the phone up to wipe the table, water literally poured out of the phone. No windows nearby, no leaks in the roof or wall, no glass of water on the table, no explanation.

3) I once saw in my bedroom at this same home, a figure who I believe to be female because in my mind I heard her speak and it had a woman’s voice. I was not scared during the incident, but what I saw from the moonlight was a tall figure wearing what I can only describe as a burlap-type robe with a hood (it reminded me of a monk mixed with a grim reaper). The face was a black void but I remember not being scared so I do not think it was evil.

4) My mother has also seen an elderly woman sitting on the couch. She does not recognize this woman.

That is all I will ask for now since there are a lot of questions already. I am mostly curious about the water in the phone since I have found no research on it. Additionally, I am worried there may be a portal in the home considering we do not recognize the spirits. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Hello Shawna,

    Phones are all about communication.

    1) Ghosts can make a phone ring, when they are trying to get a message through. Or it could have been a fault on the line somewhere? Though that is unlikey, I do like to eliminate ‘normal’ possibilities. Did you guys go downstairs and try and trace the sound? Did anything important happen on that night? Did anyone you knew die?

    2) Do you have the ghost of a lady who drowned hanging around your house? Or was s/he simply extremely emotional (metaphysically water=emotions)? I would go with the ‘drowning’ possiblity myself. What did you guys do at the time, apart from drying off the table and phone? Again, did anything important happen that time, or anyone you knew die within 3 days of this incident?

    3) What did the lady say?

More questions, from me to you? Do you have more for us?

    Love & peace
    Ama

  2. We did not go into the basement while we heard the phone ringing because we were terrified. If it wasn’t in the middle of winter, I would chalk it up to a phone in a neighboring house except all windows were closed and it was after 2am. The sound definitely sounded like a faint ringing within the home.

I am unsure if anyone who drowned haunts the home. I was not living in the state at the time so I am unsure what my mothers emotional state was, but again…my mother just sort of blew it off after she called me to tell me about the experience. No one that we knew died within that time frame.

When I saw the spirit of the robed figure, I heard her say “you have such pretty jewelry”. Odd, I know, but at the time, I had jewelry laying out on my dresser. It was all costume jewelry and none of it was acquired as hand-me-downs…so I disregard a spiritual attachment. I was about 15 years old at the time of this incident so I have thought it could be hormones…but I swear it was as real as could be.

Another event that occurred at about age 17 is when I came home from work one day (I was home alone for the weekend) and all of the items I set on my stairs were in the middle of the kitchen floor. Literally clothes and papers that I had on the stairs to bring up to my room were in the very middle of my kitchen floor. Again, that was the first and only time that has happened.

Our experiences are few and far between but it seems that when they occur, they are not subtle and are completely different events each time. I hope my responses help a little. Thank you for your reply!
