Normal for Sleep Paralysis in the Day?

I have had sleep paralysis at night and… during the day.

My first experience was late at night around 3:35 am. I felt like i was awake but could not move and was freezing cold, though covered with blankets. Lasted about 5 – 10 minutes.

The second was actually during the day, about 7 – 8am, I was awake, as it seemed and I felt pressure on my back as I was laying on my back. I could not move my head and i heard voices around me, but could not look up to see and I felt like multiple things were touching me. This lasted roughly around 2 – 3 minutes.

Never really had any experiences like this before. So far nothing else has happened other than this.

My question is, is it normal for sleep paralysis to happen during the day as well as night?

  1. Sleep paralysis in itself is actually a natural thing your body does when you sleep. Basically, when sleeping your body goes through a few distinct stages (stages being determined by your alpha, beta, delta waves and REM sleep). When you’re sleeping, your body will shutdown your muscles so that when you’re dreaming you don’t actually get up and act out the dream (I.E. if in a dream your running, this mechanism stops you from getting out of your bed and running in real life). If you’ve ever been half asleep and get that sudden “falling sense” or muscle twitch that is whats called Myclonic jerks and it’s a prelude to your body shutting down your motor functions. This is all natural steps your body takes in sleep. As far as being consciously aware of when your body is in sleep paralysis is a different story though; as you should be asleep at that point. To me that suggests you have an irregular sleep cycle and should do something about that. Look into a natural supplement called Melatonin. It’s basically a sleeping pill but without all the dependency issues that come with the sleeping pills pharmaceutical companies advertise. Once again though, do more research on it, don’t just take my word you don’t know me and shouldn’t just assume I’m correct.

    • That makes sense. Thank you! I’ve heard of Melatonin. I’ll give it a try. And yes, my sleep cycle is a little out of wack. I don’t get the sleep i need.

    • And so you know. I have seen a doctor recently. And she mentioned Melatonin as well.
      Thanks again.

  2. Hi Patrick,

You described a common experience of sleep paralysis .. which happens because your mind wakes up before your body does .. so it can happen any time of day, or night. It’s nothing to worry about.

The voices you heard are probably from the void .. the space between heaven and earth where lost souls, and other entities, reside. Our spirits go out of our bodies when we sleep, and you might have caught yourself as you were slipping back in.

    • Hmmmm, very interesting. Now, I’m really curious , I thought our spirits or souls, only leave our bodies when we die?

      • Hi Patrick,

We disconnect from our bodies when we die, and hopefully go into a healing place in heaven. The people that don’t become ghosts and stay to haunt the living.

Astral travelling is well known, and well written about all over the internet. It is also very interesting to do. I once went to China to visit the great wall. I had wanted to do that so strongly before I had that experience, and have never wanted to go there since.

        Love & Peace
