Is This True About Dream Control?

I have a question for you. In dreams, I feel like Im in a movie. Its like all this stuff is happening and I can’t change it. Just watching as it plays out. Thats how dreaming is to me.

Before a person once told me if your able to look at your left hand… or is your right hand? Well one of your hands, your able to control every aspect of your dream.

My question to you is… Is that true? Why?

See ya in tha Blogs

  1. Hi Social_D!

Nice to see you posting a question! In my experience, yes, you can absolutely control the outcome of your dreams! When I was younger I was able to control many dreams, especially the ones where I did not like the outcome! The left or right hand thing, I have never heard of it; I just naturally, somehow figured out how to do it. I do remember, however, that I did have to concentrate hard to do it! I was never taught, so I don’t know if could really explain it to you. Why, you ask? Well, I don’t have a deffinative answer to that, just a hunch really; our subconscious minds are more powerful that we realize or the other possibility, we are on an astral journey. Whether you believe in that or not, that is just my take.

  2. Hi Caretaker,

Do you have an answer to Social D from me on this site? I wrote one but can see no copy?

    Thank
    Love & Peace
    Ama

    • I dont see one Ama, must have been a glitch as nothing was removed or deleted. Dang Internet gremlins!

  3. I think i had a prophetic dream a couple of nights ago. it was so vivid and it felt so real. normally i cant remember my dreams but 2 days on i can still remember it. i was speaking to a lady at work and was describing the midwife in my dream (in the dream my partner was giving birth) and she said its perfect description of her daughters friend whos a midwife. Except in the dream she had short hair and in real life her hair is long, obviously she could cut her hair. would just like to know opinions on how to know if this dream was prophetic or not. any thoughts are welcome.

  4. Social_D,
Yes, you can control many aspects of your dreams, but you need to be careful and understand a good majority of your dream figures (people/places/archetypes) in the process, or else you will be beating your head against a wall as I have many times (never force a dream, work only with what you can, you have to build up to full control).

First I recommend reading the topic on this site by CareTaker: How Do You Achieve a Lucid Dream ( //www.trueghosttales.com/questionsandanswers/how-do-you-achieve-a-lucid-dream/ ) (please link if you would, CT…also, please advise if I can do this myself–aka, do you allow bb code?…….much thanks).

Below the topic post he has listed out some very good books on the topic. I recommend starting with the 30-day lucid dreaming book and supplementing that with Lucid dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self by Robert Waggoner.

BTW: The “hand trick” you speak of works like this: 1) Throughout the day, look at your hands (both of them….not a left/right thing as you mentioned above, but using your weaker hand more throughout the day does seem to help. If right handed, try to do more actions with your left).
Notice your hands in detail. Notice how “real” and “normal” they look. 2) in your dream, try to remember to look at your hands. This is very much a “rinse and repeat” method as you have to keep doing it throughout the day and whenever you think of it in a dream. Eventually you will look at your hands in a dream….they will look wrong to you (either your fingers will be longer then they should, or they will look distorted….then you will KNOW you are dreaming). You will know when you become lucid….you just will…..and I guarantee you will want to tell us when you have, because it’s just that flippin’ cool of a feeling when you do!!!

The key here is simply to “know” you are dreaming when you are dreaming (this is dream lucidity in a nutshell). Your conscious mind does NOT know the difference between dream-reality and waking-reality usually. Sitting at a bus stop, in reality, you might say “I’m in reality and I’m at a bus stop”…..sitting in a bus stop, while unicorns fly by and excrete rainbow coloured fruity pebbles is also “real” and “normal” to your conscious mind. The trick is to notice that the unicorn pooping breakfast cereal is not SUPPOSED to be real and belongs more in dreamscape. Then you can start working with the dream objects and remember your dreams (I now remember about 90% of all dreams and am lucid many times a week).

Don’t get burnt out though: This is a slower process for some folks and takes time and your own personal epiphanies. It does NOT work like the movie Inception, where you get in a room full of “dream experts”, tether to some recorder and start parquoring off large buildings before you turn into a unicorn with a stomach full of rainbow cereal. You will also find that people aren’t just personifications of your subconscious….but I’ll shut up on that one before ruining all your fun. :)

Good luck to you…you are entering a new world. Lucid dreaming is exciting.
Oh…almost forgot (but mentioned in other posts)….check out Reece Jones on youtube. The kid has some good advice on lucid dreaming as well as explanations of the various levels one can achieve. I’m working on co-dreaming right now and have had many planned co-dreams with a good friend of mine. Everything is possible…..everything!

  5. Hi, Social _D

All dreams aren’t true and hasn’t any interpretation. some dreams are connect to a person nature and some mentioned ” wish dreams ” , the dreams that affected of persons wishes during a day or week. do you wish become an actor ?……LOL ….Anyhow your dream is not an important and meaningful dream, therefore it hasn’t any bad or good interpretation.

    • yeah, I’m gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you, there, Manns. :)

True, some dream objects are not as “important” to the observer as others….doesn’t make them any less meaningful. I have had lucid/vivid dreams my entire life, and I can tell you from experience that they definitely mean something.

I was corrected on here once for saying that I don’t believe dreams are about your day in reality (thanks again Ama!), when what I should have said was “your conscious translations of the dreams may seem to reflect your day, but they are not solely ABOUT your day”. At least this is how it works for me.

I also have deja vu (at most, 3-4 times a week). About 90% of the time, it’s because I just did something in real life that absolutely reflected a dream.
So sure, we could say that dreams are just extra subconscious noise with mostly recollection from our day. Or I could say reality is a reflection of what I experience in dreams. Can anyone prove me wrong on that? Is it something one can prove?
What is funny to me is how scepticism seems to be the unspoken first step in the scientific method. Right before “Ask a question” we appear to have “vilify your own experiences”.

For the last month I have been WILLING recurring dream themes. I have a city I go to every night in my dreams, but am randomly spawned on most occasions. Lately, I have been successfully projecting to the same specific place in this city (basement of the hospital/mall/school– I call it the “Central Building”) and meeting up with my friend from reality. Then we call each other (in reality) and discuss what we saw (in the dream). So far, it has been shared, all the way to the point where we have determined we are close in our soul group (thanks to the same dream figure telling both of us this). We have come back many times and continue to feed off of each other’s experiences (in each reincarnation in reality).

In fact, I don’t know how you could study quantum mechanics and theoretical physics in any capacity and NOT believe that most your life you have gotten the concept of physical/material reality wrong (at the very least, question it’s integrity in logos)….leading to a completely new respect and understanding for who we are, how we work…..how we dream.

      No offence meant, of course.
Just stating my two cents because I’m still human and I still have an ego I’ve yet to find means to bypass. But manns, I encourage you to consider that dreams could be quite significant.

      Peace,
      -siddle

      • You are welcome Siddle.

I find your dream life fascinating. I seldom dream at all, or remember much, unless the dream has a very specific message that I can easily decipher. I do know, however, that I ‘work in my sleep’ .. occasionally I will be given a (very fast) film clip of my activities .. but only once in a while.

        Life is Good,
        Love & Peace
        Ama

      • My reply to Social_D wasn’t rudeness about his explanation or deny all his dreams , no it wasn’t thus. a part of my reply was a hint to various kind dreams. I didn’t say “all dreams” are reflecting of daily events ,no , I said ” some dreams ” are such but the number of ” true dreams ” and ” usual dreams ” ( including “nature dreams ” and ” wishes dream ” ) is different. My looking about this Socials dream was that this dream hasn’t a specific interpretation. Because I know some interpretations of some dreams according to a prophetic book.

        respectfully yours and Social_D

        • I never thought you were being rude, Manss, and I always enjoy your replies.

          Love & Peace
          Ama

          • Thank you very much Ama

it is your graceful looking about me

        • Manns,
And I didn’t really think it was rudeness either. I honestly thought you were being more specific then that. I saw the “some dreams” part, but your very first sentence seemed like a premise, buddy: “All dreams AREN’T true and HASN’T ANY interpretation.” So I assumed the “some dreams” part to be a wish or desire since you had already discounted the “dream part”. :)

Think it was just a little loss in translation…but I think I do understand you better now.

And, I personally don’t believe in using dream books, so I think we may just have a different base perception about dreams. So I also didn’t realize you were talking about types of dreams that were defined in a book. I’m not familiar with the “nature dreams”, “wish dreams”, etc… as I don’t believe my dreams have ever had anything common enough to be categorized. haha!

I always look forward to your replies, Manns. You make for great conversation.
          Thanks for explaining.

          Ama,
You made me blush. Glad my weird dream life isn’t considered too much a character flaw. :)
Thank you for that. But I’m also humbled. For what amazing things I experience in dreamscape….I still think it’s peanuts to what you experience in real life.
And who knows….maybe we’ll meet up in dream world and talk about this one day. It is possible, you know?

          Peace,

          • Hi Siddle,

People often tell me they meet me, but having chosen not to remember a lot of what I do in my sleep, I don’t remember meeting them .. and often I don’t think its me they actually meet, e.g. I was supposed to be a wise old (male) teacher, for one man who said to me, “I just knew it was YOU”. I’ve never been male, in any lifetime, nor in any experience I remember from between lives, but him seeing someone he thought was ‘me’ that way must have been important to him. Our brains will provide images suitable to what we have decided we need to learn. Hopefully I’ll always be part of the positive stuff. LOL

            Love & Peace
            Ama

          • first off , I excuse that i didn’t notice about your replying because it had not sent any email for me to be aware about your comment also I wasn’t here due to a journey secondly ,yes you are right I had to wrote in my first sentence ” some dreams ” no ” all dreams ” therefore I must be careful more about my writing English but what is remedy I’m beginner and most of my improving English is done in this site and it is continuing yet. My English , reading, writing , translation is slow and with suffering and speaking is very worse because I don’t work about pronunciations because I don’t talk with anyone that know English and I suppose if find such person he would become tired of me soon …LOL.. but my willpower about learning is very good and till attain to be what I wish I never abandon. so some my primeval English is relevant to past and most of that is learned here. when an author send a comment I read it and while I am understanding its concept note some new words and idioms then I use those in my write again. Babylon dictionary is my savior when I confuse in the field of the word war ! …LOL…it is one of the best my assistant ,clerk, translator and digital friend. Anyhow I am trying yet and hope become a professional reader and writer soon.
you told you don’t believe in dream books I agree with you about some such books some of those is written by humans and those are personally opinions and interpretations or some is written by magicians , voodooist , astronomers and such groups and some is written by psychologists that interpret dreams based on psyche states and conditions
but the dream world is greater than these opinions and upon this words. it is one of the greatest secrets in human life and we don’t know about dream world except little. the book that I mentioned is a real prophetic interpretation about meaning of some dreams. may you know some dreams announce about future. That is to say it announce about a occurrence that is not happened yet and will occur afterward. such dreams called ” true dream ” and it is an announcement from god to a human some prophets have announced
about meaning of stuffs and occurrence in some dreams and what they have said is from god and is relevant to gods intimation. we flight in a physical world and our mind is agree with what we see ,feel and touch experimentally but we think less about what is beyond this physical world and its occurrences dream world is a paranormal and very mysterious world which is over this circle physical world. Soul is so we don’t know about it just a little. God say to his last messengers [ they question you about the spirit. say: 'the spirit is from the command of my lord. except for a little knowledge you have been given nothing ] Anyway some dreams has a particular and accurate interpretation
but we must have that knowledge to be able interpret those correctly

            hope good coming for you
