Can Dreams be Prophetic?

Can a dream warn us of something that will happen? Have you ever had a dream that came true later on?

  1. Hello again,

Another yes and yes answer. I know many people who have prophetic dreams and then watch them come true. Sometimes this is wonderful, and sometimes not. Prophetic dreaming can also be used as a tool to divine the future. You can make a request of your guides to explain something to you, or show you the outcomes of what you are planning .. and if you have the gift they just might.

My last night’s dreams were not prophetic. I had ghosts in the house, obviously killed by the Mafia .. and spent all night trying to calm them down long enough to get them into healing. My hair actually stood up on my neck around 2.00am when I got up for a drink of water. No wonder I am tired this morning. LOL

Wishing everyone a peace day and night,

  2. Most of my prophetic dreaming happened when I was young. I described a few of them under the heading “experiences with Christianity”.

Another disturbing dream I had was about my dearest school friend Jennifer. I dreamed I saw her sitting in a wheelchair at the doors of an orphanage. I was totally shocked when I realised she had no legs and asked her what happened. All she said was “promise me you will never jump out of a moving car”. A few days later Jennifer was involved in a car accident. She probably realised the car was going to smash into a tree, and she jumped out of the back door of the moving car. That is how she died.

My brother in-law was on holiday in South Africa. Whilst he was there, he was diagnosed with lung cancer (aged around 30). Although he was receiving treatment there, I had no idea he was going to die so soon. I had a dream where I saw myself at a funeral. As I looked down at the coffin, all I could see was a hand sticking out from under the coffin lid. I immediately woke up and knew Peter had just died. A telephone call from my mother soon after confirmed it.

  3. There was a time when I use to have the same dream night after night for years that I was flying. I felt like it was real, it felt so real. I don’t remember how I got back to my bed.
    Could it be real??
Is it true when you dream of Snakes its some kinda danger coming to u?

    • dreaming of snakes may mean danger to one person but something totally different to another. Thats the thing about dream symbology. In order to understand or interpret a dream one must know the dreamer intimately because the meanings of all the symbols are within that persons mind and not in a dream dictionary. Check this out How to Understand the Personal Meaning of Dream Symbols

  4. Thanks CareTaker

  5. Hi Xenia

The sense of flying could have been astral travelling. I used to do it as a child .. until I tried it in reality and ended up skinning my nose when I crash landed. LOL

Snakes can have a lot of different meanings, as I described some of them in the other person’s answer on this site. What you have to do is look at the whole situation of the dream, all the activity that is happening, and take the meaning from there.

Death, as CareTaker describes in his article on dream symbols, as a symbol, does not usually mean an actual death. It means a great and important change. That is also the meaning of it in the tarots. We can see from CareTakers writing that he made some important changes in his life. It is the small things that count the most at times.

  6. Everything in this world, before they turned into reality, will exist in a place called astral dimension. And, sometime, a person can feel what happened in astral dimension, that what makes them can “see the future”, since anything in astral world is just a thing that will exist in the future. Of course, astral world is not a place without a change, everything can be changed in this world. That will cause a change in the future. That’s why no one, even the greatest foreseeker, can’t say for sure about the future they predict or see.
When you are in sleep, there is a chance for you to enter the astral dimension. At that time, you will get a dream that is a sign, an omen to the future. Of course not all dream have a meaning. Most of them is just a sleep experience. But if you have a strong feeling about the dreams that you got, it would be good if you find what is meaning.

  7. Hi Adhinferno,

Very good answer. My last prophetic dream was two nights ago. One minute I was awake (after dawn and being lazy and not getting up) and then I was watching two birds on a branch. One was a plain chubby grey pigeon-like bird, and the other was an eastern rosella (bright bright red). The pidgeon sidled across the front of the rosella, swung around quickly behind it, jumped on it, grabbed its neck in its beak and broke it.

I woke up. I won’t say what the dream meant, but my mother and I worked out ‘who’ the birds were and I warned one of them. We are watchful at the moment.

  8. in Sept 6, 2004 I was asleep at night and dream about my grandfather that he died in my dream then sept 7th My mother woke me up say something happen to papaw then remember the dream that turn real.

  9. Most certainly dreams can be prophetic and I have had them since I was a child. The initial problem I had was was experiencing deja vu’ all the time and being confused by that – it took until an event in my teens ( see a story here ) where I realised that I had dreamt the event that had taken place.

As mentioned earlier, there were aspects of astral travel because I had forseen events that happened in another location but I also dream personal events that happen to me.

The problem I have in ‘ proving ‘ this happens to me, is,I can’t tell a prophetic dream from a regular dream, so i don’t know which ones I should bring to the attention of other people BEFORE an event. The most convincing one was in my 30′s when I did tell my husband BEFORE the event and it was my walking into a new workplace, at a new job that I had even applied for yet! ( but would come true some months later ) and I explained details of the location even he came to notice when he came to pick me up after my first day! As the event revealed itself on my first day, I realised I knew what was around the corner of a building I had never been in before……..because I had dreamt it already. But in general like a jig saw ; I only get given one piece – so as a dream it doesn’t make any sense. Seeing a funny orange shape makes no sense in a dream ; going on an outing to the park and seeing the same modern sculpture a week later in a city you didn’t know you were going to be in when you had the dream is pretty amazing.

But just being given the orange shape out of context like that means you can’t relate it to anything specific. I find that frustrating. It’s very easy to say ‘ oh I knew that sculpture was there, I dreamt it last week ‘ AFTER the event and that’s how it seems to play out when I have prophetic dreams. I don’t dream world events or anything – just personal information that relates to myself and then I’m only given enough information to relate it to myself! So I can’t ‘ prove ‘ it per se. But I have concluded everyone has prophetic dreams ( as everyone dreams ) but not everyone recalls them………..hence deja vu’ which everyone has had at one time or another. I suggest, prophetic dreaming creates deja vu.

  10. Dear Anon, do you think you could come out of hiding? There are a couple of ‘anons’ here now, and I am easily confused???? LOL Well, not really, but it would be nice to have some sort of pseudonym to actually talk to. You might notice I use my real name.

That topic cast aside .. how to tell a prophetic dream from the mind’s general rumbling, or in my case fumblings (which is what I first typed) LOL. I am dreaming a lot since I had a big operation back at the beginning of March. It is a very strange thing to do since before that, and I mean this seriously, I very seldom dreamed at all – once in a blue moon – unless Spirit had some very clear message for me – and I could always work out the meanings very fast and easily.

In a prophetic dream the energy is completely different. Do some comparisons in your head between what you have experienced in the past with them, and how your usual dreams feel? You might find as you wake up you ‘know’ its been a different sort of dream to the usual? Or is there some similarity between them all that makes you realise its a message? Think it through and I think you’ll find there’s something. .. Hmm.. its very easy to say ‘no there isn’t', so watch for them over the next few dreams as well.

No, not everyone has prophetic dreams, or that sense of deja vu .. its actually one of the spiritual gifts, and while you are using it as a learning process about yourself, you might find that in a few years you start doing it about others? The world energy is changing, and we are all opening up to Spirit/God/angels (whatever you want to call them) more.

Also, you might find you are astral travelling to places you either want to visit, or are going to visit in the near future, so knowing the sculpture was there was because you had already checked out the location.

Do you keep a dream diary? Stick one beside your bed .. remember the pen or pencil .. and when you immediately wake up write down anything that stands out in your memory – be it sign, symbol, colour or sound .. or people. By keeping a record you encourage your mind to pay more attention to what you are seeing in your dreams, and that will expand your gift.

And have fun with it. You don’t seem to be suffering from some of the prophetic gifts people have .. the ones that see disasters.

We are given gifts to help ourselves and other people. Perhaps this is one of yours?

    Love & Peace,
    Ama

  11. I used to have deja vu all the time. It slowed down when I reached my late 30′s. Gosh, I would walk into a building for a job interview. Although I had never been there, I would immediately recognise the building, know exactly who will be interviewing me, and the questions I would be asked. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times this happened. In the beginning, it was nerve wrecking, but became quite useful. One thing I noticed, whilst I was having the deja vu experience, I would feel completely detached from my body. Not a nice feeling.

  12. I wouldn’t call this a prophetic dream, but it does fall under the astral plane of epic dreams.

It was Christmas Eve of 2009 when I had the greatest dream of my entire life.

My surroundings are so heavenly like. I’m in a realm of stars, just floating in space right above all of the galaxies of the universe. It’s just me and a powerful male figure with broad shoulders floating in my presence.

I swear I’m looking into the bold face of Superman. He kept head his turned to the side, exposing only the left part of face. I can’t make out the features because the of super bright light flashing before my eyes. I remember the black hair and the front curl that makes Superman and Elvis so handsome.

We are floating with our bodies directly facing each other. He stands about five feet taller than me, like a giant. It’s weird how our body language spoke for our silence. I remember standing in awe of the male figure in the royal blue suit. I’ve never seen a color so rich and beautiful that I was hypnotized. The white button up collar shirt seemed to glow as bright as the light that shone behind this person. I’ve never seen a shirt so bright, so white, like a twinkling star. But his tie immediately caught my gaze as I admired the press work in his sleeves. The longer I looked at the tie, the stronger my daze had become. I couldn’t move my eyes from the crimson red depth of the mismatched tie. For some odd reason my body became numb and I felt stuck to this handsome attraction. And there we kept floating, with no communication or interaction what-so-ever.

I was allowed a moment to look below my feet and at that point, I understood and remembered Earth. Somehow I knew that my home planet was somewhere in the mix of stars beneath us. I couldn’t physically see Earth because we were floating a million miles straight above the Milky Way. So I was actually admiring the many different galaxies and clusters of stars while remembering where I came from.

In a blink of an eye, the scenario warped into a cluttered apartment filled with lots of diverse people and children. I was in the dining room, sitting at the end of a long, elegant wooden table. I was holding a little pink jacket fit for a toddler in my left hand. As I gathered my purse from the table, I noticed my voice calling out a name.

As soon as I strapped the purse on my arm, a little girl of two years with beautiful brown hair and big brown, sparkly eyes appeared before me on command. She was thrilled and excited to see me. She had the biggest and most beautiful smile that I had ever seen. She practically jumped into her jacket when I told her we were getting ready to leave.

As I zipped her pink coat tight, the crowd inside began to make their exit out of the apartment. The little girl immediately grabbed my hand that once held her little coat and dragged me out the door following the rest of the crowd.

We stepped into the refreshing crisp morning winter breeze. I can see a black fence directly in front of me. It separates the main street from apartment property. Across the fence and street stands a white bricked office building. As I looked up to the baby blue sky, I noticed four fat puffy clouds that moved lazily in the wind. The sun is beaming down strong enough to feel warm and cozy in the soft icy cold breeze. I felt my body and mind drift into a comfort zone with Mother Nature when the little girl snapped me out of the daze.

She was so excited to hop in the car, that she lost her balance on the sidewalk where the concrete meets the grass. Instead of grass growing against the line of the sidewalk, there was a mud puddle the size of a nerf ball. She was still gripping my hand as I felt her little body trip. I looked down to see her little brown suede shoe covered in mud yet her laced sock remained clean and white. I was thankful for some reason. The little girl became upset and I reassured her that everything was going to be okay as I picked her up into my arms. We took off behind the crowd in no time. There was one other person that lingered behind me. When the little girl stepped into the mud, he was locking the door.

But I didn’t recognize the guy. Or the little girl. Or the crowd of the people.

I felt meaningless and alone in a room full of friends, even though I had one little girl loving me.

Two years later, I am sharing my dream with the rest of the world. I am 22 and single with no kids. I’ve been told my many that I would be a great mother, but honestly, I am not ready for one.

Is there any incite or meaning to the dream? After all, this is my favorite dream because it’s so wonderful and I woke up Christmas morning grateful to have this memory for the rest of my life.

  13. Hi Kim,

Sounds to me like a past life memory dream. I wonder if you, as the lady, were suffering from depression, or pure misery. Was it a funeral gathering? The sense of detachment, and floating, at the end, could have come from there.

The beginning .. we all have guides and teachers. The colour blue is usually a symbol, to me, of our spiritual teachers, the Uriel (angels). Perhaps he was helping you learn something about who you are today, that you have brought through from that lifetime?

  14. Hi Ama,

I am very well pleased to get your response, as I have been reading all of your comments throughout the site.

I must admit, that I am still miserable and suffering from my depression. It comes and goes and hits me like a rolling wave for the past eight years.

As far as the dream goes, I have no idea where everybody was going. Yet the place of the scene happens in the same apartment complex of where I grew up in my childhood years. Maybe it stems from my desire to have my own family in reality, but in actuality I am in no way financially prepared for that lifetime responsibility. My luck with men is not good, as they all take my kindness for weakness and abuse my gullibility.

I will research the Uriel’s to see if I can get a better insight of why he came to me so beautifully.

Thank you so much for your sincere time, I want you to know that I appreciate your helpful advice.

    Love,
    Kim

  15. I just realized that Uriel is the name for one of the Archangel’s

Sorry for the misconception, I felt it would only be right to correct my mistake on his behalf…lol

  16. I think i had a prophetic dream a couple of nights ago. it was so vivid and it felt so real. normally i cant remember my dreams but 2 days on i can still remember it. i was speaking to a lady at work and was describing the midwife in my dream (in the dream my partner was giving birth) and she said its perfect description of her daughters friend whos a midwife. Except in the dream she had short hair and in real life her hair is long, obviously she could cut her hair. would just like to know opinions on how to know if this dream was prophetic or not. any thoughts are welcome.

  17. Last summer i had a dream from god(Jesus Christ ) telling me the sun will turn pitch black and the moon will become crimson red . My dream did came true in 2014 – 2015 they say at Nasa there is gonna be Blood Red Lunar Eclipse and solar Eclipses that will take place that year ,These dreams you have are a gift from god himself and he’s telling you he chosen you into his sheep of flock and Jesus Christ is shepherd or sheepherder .
