Who Was Stroking My Hair?

Posted on May 1, 2011

My story is rather short and not super scary but it scared me when it happened. I can’t remember how old I was… I was either 7, 8, or 9. Anyways, my encounter happened at my old house where my bedroom was in the basement. So, this is what happened…

In the morning around 5:30 or 6:00 I woke up to someone stroking my hair behind my ear over and over. I couldn’t see who was doing it because I was on my side facing the wall my bed was against. And also, who ever was stroking my hair was also singing a song that had the same calm tone as if you were singing a lullaby. I couldn’t understand the words of the song because they sounded as if the were mumbled but yet the song sounded clear… it is really hard to explain. Maybe muffled is a good word to explain the song.

So anyways, I was petrified with fear. I was trying to scream but no sound would come out. I remembering going through my mind whether or not I should turn around and see who was doing this. After about a minute I turned around to see but no one was there! I screamed at the top of my lungs and jumped out of my bed and ran upstairs to my parents room.

I woke up my mom and told her what happened (I told her about someone stroking my hair but I didn’t tell her about them singing because I didn’t want her thinking I was to crazy). My mom just told me that it was just a dream and so I went back to my bedroom and stayed awake until my parents got up to make breakfast.

Why I wrote this is because I’m wondering if anyone knows what it was, why it was there, and if it was dangerous. My guess is that it was just a ghost. I still can’t figure out why it came to me though. I’m also wondering if I couldn’t understand the song because maybe it was a different language. Do ghosts have a different language? If any of you guys have an idea or if you’ve experienced the same thing, I’d love to hear about it.
