What Was That Strange Box?

Posted on December 1, 2009

Lets see where do I start? I am 42 years old now. All my life I dealt with some kind of form of paranormal activity in the beginning I was just confused and thought nothing of it, as time went by I got older and moved several times it wasn’t until I moved into my house where I live now everything became intense and I was scared. Not any more I learned and experienced things and how to help others to cross over or just say hi and listen, so I understand now.

This story I am about to tell happen when I was 11 years old my sister was 16 years old she worked on the weekends as a maid cleaning up lodges at a resort tucked in the wilderness somewhere in California (sorry don’t know where she went I was 11 didn’t pay attention). She would be gone the whole weekend cause the resort was located far from where we lived. She came home Sunday nights she had to go to school.

Well one Sunday night she came home with a box. I found out later, about 2 – 3 months after she brought home the box, where it came from. She and another co-worker cleaned up a lodge cause no one else wanted to, a lady committed suicide in that particular lodge during the week. The family of the Lady didn’t want her belongings and told the resort owner they can do what ever they want with it. So my sister and her co-worker each took a box and decided to keep her stuff because there was a lot of pretty elegant things. Big mistake!

Back to the story… When my sister brought in the box she took it to her bedroom she told me, “see that box” she pointed to it, “Do not touch it understand me?!” I looked at it knowing one day cause she said not to touch it I will touch it! I have to tell you my sister’s room was located at one end of the house set back by the kitchen so she can have her own little space we where on the other side of the house down a hallway. My brother and I shared a room my mother was at the end of the hall across from the bathroom. About a week after she brought the box, in the middle of the night I heard my sister calling my mom my mom’s door was shut so she couldn’t hear my sister so I went to see why she was yelling. All the lights where off except my sister’s bedroom lights when I got to her door she was kneeling on her bed staring at the box I also noticed the light I was seeing was not there anymore it was dark and my sister was trying to turn on her lamp I said , “what’s going on? why are you yelling?” She looked at me and was very scared all I can think of to say was, “you woke me up.”

She jumped off her bed and asked if she can sleep with me. I said sure. let me tell you I was shocked, cause my sister was going through a weird stage where I wasn’t allowed to go in her room or sleep with her cause she was too old for any little girl bothering her. So she grabbed her pillow and blankets and we went to my room my brother was still asleep so was my mother. When we got to my room she laid her blanket and stuff on the ground by the bedroom door I asked, “what are you doing?” She looked at me and said, “I am going to sleep right here so nothing comes in.” I just thought she was weird so I went to sleep. The next day my sister put the box in the hallway next to my bedroom door she said she was getting rid of it.

Three days later I came home from school and nobody was home my sister was still in school my brother I don’t know where he was my brother was 13 years old at the time, my mother had to work late. No my father did not live with us. my parents are divorced. Like I said I came home and nobody was there… I smiled cause it was just me and the box. so I ran to the box and opened it started to go through the stuff the woman’s picture was in it (she was pretty) so were her jewelry I remember a pair of black long gloves the kind that goes past your elbow with pretty rhinestones on them, I put them on and started digging in the box some more then all of a sudden someone was breathing over my right shoulder and whispered in my ear, “put my stuff back!” I threw all the stuff back and was so scared cause I was going to get in trouble cause I knew it was my sister she caught me! I closed the box slid it back up against the wall and turned to say, “I’m sorry” while making a sad face so my sister would forgive me. She wasn’t there I stood up and looked around and realized nobody was home it was still just me. so I shrugged my shoulders and went to watch TV cause being the youngest, which sucked, when my brother and sister came home I couldn’t watch what I wanted to.

Time went by I forgot about the box I got a new Barbie doll nothing matter then but my new doll! One night I woke up from a nightmare I was in a coffin I couldn’t move I wanted out I screamed but no sound came out of my mouth they were going to bury me I wanted someone to know I was still alive so I tried to scream again and that’s when I woke up! it was late all the lights in the house were off except the light from the bathroom I was in my mothers bed cause I couldn’t sleep my sister and my mother were talking in the hallway they didn’t know I was up. My mom was asking where did you get that box? My sister didn’t want to answer so my mother said, “it has a ghost attached to it!” My sister looked down and whispered, “I know” my mother asked when did you see her? She looked at my mom surprised you saw her you know it’s a lady? My mom said yes you tell me your story and I will tell you mine.

My sister sighed and said when I first got the box everything was ok but about week later after I brought the box home I was up late doing homework it was getting cold so I decided to go to sleep I turned off my lights and was climbing in bed when I notice there was still a light shinning I turned around to see where it was coming from and there was the lady standing next to the box she just stared at me I yelled for you but you didn’t answer, Lisa (that’s me) came but as soon as Lisa came to the room she faded as she was fading the room became dark, so I went to sleep in Lisa’s room on the ground by the door to make sure she wouldn’t come to Lisa’s room and scare them (talking about my brother and I) my Mom said she got up one night to go to the Bathroom and when she was finish going back to the room she saw the lady glowing standing over the box and said, “put my stuff back!” then my sister told the story about how she got the lady’s stuff. My mom said, “give them back find out where she was buried or get in touch of the family and give them back! I don’t care if they were giving to you never ever again take anybody stuff when they are not even in the ground yet!” My sister gave the box back and that was that!

Sorry so long but that’s what happen let me tell you I have a lot of stories I seemed to attract spirits a lot so does my son. Have a blessed life.

Dang that is creepy. I believe that entities attach them selves to things, I dont think they are ghost but i do think that they are something else. But still that is creepy, and Yea. never bring used stuff to your home, not even from flea markets, garage sales, give to you, nothing. you never know what that stuff has neen though.

  3. trolldoll1681 says:

it would of been even creepier if you didn’t know who the box belonged to in the first place!!! i’m glad you gave the box back but to who, the lodge? or the lady’s family? great story. she died tragically so it makes sense that she was still around!!!

    Hey LMC:
It is indeed a very eerie story.I think that most intensive incidents like suicides, the ghost remains hanging around the place , she does not feel any peace, she also thinks that she did not die so, in your story the ghost of the lady insisted to ask about his stuff to be back thinking that she is still alive.Very interesting story.Thank you LMC for your sharing.
I enjoyed reading most of your comments & subjects through the Paranormal forum.
    Take care.

  6. Karen M. says:

What about the other girl who took a box also, did she ever experience anything strange??

  7. mommy4 says:

I believe the woman had taken the things to the lodge with her knowing she would commit suicide that week because she wanted to surround herself with the things that were precious and beautiful to her in life. By your sister taking her things, she felt she had been ‘robbed’, these were her things and she felt they belonged with her and only her. In fact, she may not even have known she was gone.
What a scary thing to go through when you were so young.

Thank you so much for your comments it is appreciated *big kisses to everybody*…

Moya; I am like that about personal property, you never know!

Trolldoll; my sister gave it back to the family… I guess I should of put that down sorry.

Hossam; Thank you so much for your kind words, I enjoy talking to you too.

K2M; Thank you so much it gives me pleasure talking to you… I have wondered why the family didn’t want the stuff too… my sister thinks it’s because the lady commited suicide??? she said some people don’t except suicide cause they think it’s a sin???

Karen; I remembered after my sister took the box back she was talking to my mother… she told my mother that her friend who had took the stuff gave her stuff back too… my sister tried to ask her about it but the girl just said she didn’t want them! and wouldn’t tak about it. My mom told my sister to leave it alone some people are more private when it comes to personal problems, if she comes to you about it then talk! but the girl never talked about it.

Mommy4; I wasn’t scared of the haunting I was use to that kind of stuff… I was more scared of getting in trouble for going through my sisters things when she told me not to! My mom was big on that stuff… always respect others!!! Listening to your sister!!! never do wrong!!!! so on and you know all the rules will my mom always ended it with if you don’t do good the Devil is going to get you! She was a devoted Catholic we were in Catholic school and that was what the nuns would say all the time you child if your bad!!! we would have to pray for your soul cause the Devil would get you! Trust me I wasn’t going to be bad! lol!

I really enjoyed this story. Things can definitely have a spirit attached to them but you will never know until you get the things home. I love antiques especially dolls and so far I haven’t had any bad experiences. But it’s good thing that you gave them back.

  10. Tony L. says:

In what manner exactly did the woman commit suicide? I’m sure your sister would remember. There would be no forgetting that. and where does she say the place was at? I’m sure she still remembers that. I doubt that my family would have let my 16 year old sister go running off to work at a resort they didn’t know everything about that was that far away. Everyone in the family would have known everything there was to know about it. I’ve comtemplated suicide myself, and was right on the brink, the event horizon you might say. Having any special things with me was not on my mind at all. As a matter of fact I didn’t take anything with me that I thought might get looted or looked through by strangers because I knew that’s what would happen. I have no idea how anyone else might look at their last moments and the certain events to soon follow their suicide, but it’s really unexplainable, the emotions you go through. It makes me sad thinking about it. I think that changed my life, the way I see things now, and others. I also don’t know what kind of value earthly belongings would hold to me after death.

  11. NimNod ...The She Goat. says:

Good story I find it believable.

  12. LMC says:

    Hello Voodoo child thank you!

Hello Tony my sister never talked about it after she gave the stuff back. I was young and never asked her she would always say to me to mind my business! My mom well, she is going through some health issues now so I am not sure if she could remember! some people are materialistic and value thier stuff!!! me I could care less about my stuff! My mother was a single parent my sister wanted money for clothes and stuff my mother couldn’t get what she wanted so she told my sister she is going to have to work! this was back in the 70′s kids worked back then! I am pretty sure my mom had all the information about where my sister was they just didn’t tell me! I never asked cause my sister was mean!

    Hello NimNod thank you!

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYBODY!!!

  13. Dee says:

I wonder if the other box that was taken home was haunted, too, or if it was a specific item in your sister’s box that the lady was attached to… either way, very creepy!

  14. BEaAnn09 says:

  15. LMC says:

    Beaanne I am not sure…

  16. Malenkov says:
