Watched by a Shadow at the River

Posted on March 23, 2011

I was out with my mate, about 4 months ago, hanging out by the river down the main street of Werribbee, where I live. The main street has the typical row of buildings on either side of the road. But behind one side of the buildings, is the Werribbee river, which runs right through town. Therefore the backs of the buildings can be seen.

We were walking through the trees along the edge at about 11 pm. Me and my closest friend had both lost an uncle to accidents in water, so my friend had an unusual fear of water. We stopped walking through the trees and walked along a dirt path. All the way, I felt like I was being watched.

I asked Crystal (my best friend) if she felt it too. She nodded so we decided to get back into the light of the main street. There was a way I used to go to take a shortcut back into the street, it involved climbing a slightly steep hill made of dirt and soil. We walked toward the hill, still feeling like we were being watched, but now the feeling was very strong. I started to climb the hill, but it looked much higher and steeper than usual. All along the whole walk the hills looked much higher. I decided to walk quickly when crystal heard her uncle’s voice behind us. Then suddenly I went very cold and felt a hand on my ankle. Crystal yelled Go! Go! and we panicked and sprinted the last few hundred meters until we were under a street light.

I looked back toward the river and saw a shadow moving. Then and there I thought it was just some person playing a cruel joke on us, but the whole thing just didn’t feel right. We called it a night and started back to her house.

Every few minutes I’d look behind me and the shadowy figure would be standing across the road or in a driveway watching us. And I knew it wasn’t a person because I felt cold and tingly every time we were close to it.

I knew the whole night had happened but there have been times when I think I was just paranoid. Please if you know what the shadow figure could’ve been tell me because since that night I haven’t been the same person.

I think the shadow might be your friend’s uncle’s ghost. He was there trying to protect you and making sure you all went home safe and sound.

It’s not your uncle’s ghost or any of that man-made speculation nonsense. When we die, if we are in Christ we are immediately with Him. Period. The Bible tells us this. So, if we’re not with Him immediately after we die then where are we? NOT with Him! What does that mean? It means any spirits you’re seeing are not from God, and are not clean!

If you should find yourself in a scary situation like this in the future, simply say the name “Jesus” (assuming you’re a believer, it may not work if you aren’t) and any spiritual or other attacks will stop immediately. Christ gave us dominion over demons and spirits, learn how to take your position in Christ and deal with these things when they come looking for a fight. Best wishes.

I agree with a lot of the things that you have said. But like all Christians I was taught the erroneous error that when you die you go directly to heaven to be with God and Jesus. It was not until I got older and I began to read the bible for myself that I learned that when you die, you sleep in the grave until the resurrection which Jesus repeatedly taught.

Question: If you are already in heaven, how can you be apart of the resurrection and rise out of the grave when you hear Jesus voice.

Jesus referred to death as SLEEP.

JOHN 11:11-14 – Theses things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus SLEEPETH: but I go, that I may AWAKE him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, If he sleep, he shall do well. Howebeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus said unto them plainly, Lazarus id dead.

Luke 8:52-53 – Now all wept and mourned for her; but he said, weep not she is not dead, but SLEEPING. And they ridiculed him knowing that she was dead.

The Old Testament which is based on Judaism also refers to death as sleep.

DANIEL 12:2 – And many of them that SLEEP in the dust of the earth shall awake to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

The bible states that the dead is in the grave waiting for the resurrection. I should add that only a few men have entered heaven and never saw death, they were Enoch and Elijah.

Jesus disciple Peter confirmed in ACTS Chapter 2 verses 29 & 34 that even King David was dead and buried and STILL in his grave awaiting the Resurrection. This proves that all have to wait until Jesus wakes the dead. .

ACTS 2:29 & 34 – Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand.

The scriptures explicitly teach that the living will die and the dead is asleep. Paul also made references that those who died in the past are just sleeping.

2 Peter 3:3-4 – Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, where is the promise of his coming? For since the FATHERS FELL ASLEEP, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

When Christians die, their body turns to dust but their spirit sleeps until the resurrection day.

JOHN 5:25-28 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. 26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.28Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

JOHN 11:23-26 – Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

I should add that the dead knows nothing nor can they communicate or interact with the living. This means that ghosts are in fact demons masquerading or pretending to be your loved ones.

Job 7:9-10 –As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him anymore.

PSALM 115:17 – The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.

PSALMS 88:5 – Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more; and they are cut off from thy hands.

PSALMS 146:4 – His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

ECCLESIASTES 9:5-6 – For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also there love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in any thing that id done under the sun

ECCLESIASTES 9:10 – Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
