I am an adult female, highly educated and have never had reason to believe in ghosts, until recently.
About a year ago, my son made a “shrine” to my father for a Spanish class project. When he brought it home, we placed it in the bar area of our house, since my late Father liked a cocktail or two. We began having strange events happening in our house, such as light bulbs constantly going out, lamps flickering often, musical instruments turning themselves on, etc. As these things happened, I never thought anything about it, just figured, “wow, we are going through light bulbs like crazy!”
One day, I was standing near the bar area in front of my “junk” drawer. In an instant, my son, housekeeper and I, heard a loud crash. It was so loud, I thought my china cabinet had a shelf break. We ran into the dining room – nothing was out of place. I walked around looking for broken glass everywhere, happened to open the cabinet in front of where I had been standing, and a glass from the bar cabinet had shattered into pieces, the cabinet hadn’t been open in months, if not longer. It wasn’t sitting under another glass, we don’t have earthquakes in Texas; it was unexplainable.
A while later, my sister came over and I showed her where the glass had broken. She pointed out the picture of my Dad and his “tribute” sitting directly under the shelf where the glass had broken.
A few days later, my siblings, our families and I were at our beach house in Galveston. We were eating corn on the cob, laughing about how my Father would have a few too many cocktails and let butter drip off his chin when he ate corn. At that moment, a margarita pitcher fell out of an armoire on the other side of the house and shattered into pieces.
Later that night, I went downstairs, turned on a light and said, “Daddy, are you here?” Immediately, one of the light bulbs in the track flickered, then stopped. I asked my sister in law to come downstairs and watch – I asked the same question and received the same response. We actually grabbed a fishing pole to touch the bulb to make sure it wasn’t loose.
I realize this is wordy, and there’s so many more activities that I started making a list. Besides the unexplainable but I’m sure experiences others have had like waking up because something was tickling my legs while I slept, doors opening, unusual spots of light, these are a few examples of the more unusual events I’ve seen. If anyone is interested, I’d be glad to share more! I am not a drinker, smoker, drug-doer… anything that would cause me to hallucinate or fabricate information. It “is what it is” and I can’t explain it!
