The story I am about to share with you all happened some 5 years back. So it is actually better to refer to it as a true “Experience” rather than a “Story”.
Ever since I was a child, I was scared of the dark and always found excuses to spend the night with my parents. However, the solution to my problem became easier when my granny moved in with us. I used to sleep with her and she had the richest stock of fairytales. Every night after I fell asleep, she used to turn the lights out(since I vehemently opposed to sleep in the dark). Also, she used to wake up a number of times at night just to check on me, i.e, whether I have the blankets on, whether the heating is working or not and so on and so forth. She used to wake me up at the break of dawn and we two were the earliest risers among the other family members (my mom and dad). Things were going fine until one fine morning my granny complained of some minor chest discomforts. We insisted on taking her to a doctor. But she assured us that it’s only gas that’s been causing the discomfort. So I went to school and my parents being reassured by her of her good health, left granny alone at home and left for work. It’s my mom who picks me up after school and that day was no different. Mom picked me up right on time and together we went to dad’s office since he had a presentation that day where family members were invited. We spent the evening together and came back home after dusk. As we were ringing the door bell, I suddenly had an eerie feeling. I still don’t know what brought that feeling on but I was quite sure that something was terribly wrong. I looked at my parents and found them happily talking about how well the presentation went while we waited for granny to answer the door. But minutes passed by but no one came to open the door. My mom got tensed and after another 15 minutes of waiting, my dad decided to break in. So he called one of our neighbors and with his help, broke the door open. The TV was on, I could smell dinner in the oven, the dining area was well lit but nana was nowhere in sight.I saw my mom running frantically up the stairs and just moments later heard her scream. We rushed to see what happened and found nana lying on the floor-I instantly knew she was dead. Nonetheless, just to comfort my mom, we took her to a hospital where the doctors declared her dead. My nana was gone forever. She broke her promise of making me my wedding veil and left me forever.
It was after a month or so we went back to normal life. I was still scared of the dark but still managed to sleep alone in my room.It was exactly after a month of nana’s death that I was roused by someone from my sleep.I could feel the familiar touch of hand on my hair and back and was startled up from my sleep to find my nana standing near the head of my bed. Strangely, it seemed completely normal to me seeing her standing there at the dead of night. She smiled at me and gestured towards the open door of my room. I don’t know what she was gesturing to and kept looking at her until my eyes brimmed with tears.I closed my eyes. When I looked again, she was not there anymore. In the morning, I opened my nana’s secret closet just outside my door to find an unfinished wedding dress. I don’t know who was it for, but it was beautifully stitched and smelled of my nana’s hands. She was secretly making me a wedding dress years before I was going to get married. She came back to tell me that she kept her promise.
I never told this to anyone. I don’t want people to laugh at me. I know what I saw and I know what I saw was real. I don’t know whether my story qualifies as a ghost story or not. But it is indeed an experience that took away all my fears and made me this strong, brave little girl my nana always wanted me to be.

Hi Tazzy, nobody is going to laugh at you, that was a beautiful and touching story,
it bought tears to my eyes, I’m glad your nana came back to you, not only to let you know about the dress but she also let you know she is well and happy. thank you for sharing
that.
How sweet your grandmother was she loved you. She did come back to tell you what she had done for you. Sometimes our loved ones come back from the spirit world to tell us something important when they die. I know it happened to me also.
A very beautiful story. I couldn’t get over for years after my grandmother passed away. I know how you feel.
Hi Tazzy.beautiful story and I believe you.Sorry for your loss…Jim
Beautiful and touching story, Tazzy.
Very beautiful story hun <3 You had an amazing experience that not everyone gets to have. My father passed away five years ago this coming june. My mom has seen and felt his presence, (She saw him in shadow form sit beside her on the edge of her bed as she was lying down one night. She felt the weight of him on the bed and everything.) I haven't had the pleasure of seeing my dad after his passing . He promised he would always watch over us. He also scared the heck out of my ex who he really disliked since my ex was abusive towards me. My ex and I were sleeping one night and apparently my dad decided to teach him a lesson by holding him down on my bed and choking him. My ex said he tried to wake me up, but I just sat up, looked at him and smiled really big and went right back to sleep..I remembered none of this. He told me everything when I woke up to find him sitting on the couch crying. I knew it had to be my daddy being the protective father that he always was. So like I said sweetie you were so lucky to see your grandma after she passed and get that sort of closure and comfort she knew you needed . God Bless Sweetie & Take Care
